Lake House | Jindi

“I hope you’re freakin’ ready!” Jude called from the other side of the door. It would probably be unlocked, but he didn’t want to force his way in so instead knocked a familiar AC/DC tune on the wood. He was hopped up on three cups of pure caffeine to prep himself for the drive, even though it wasn’t a very far drive, only an hour taking the parkway. He wasn’t even sure if their break in would be successful, but he wouldn’t share all of that with her, of course.

Jude swung into the room, singing the middle bars of O sole mio in a voice that was sure to wake most of her neighbours, or maybe even the entire block. “Good evening, pretty lady,” he said after he shut the door behind him, taking a deep bow that made his hair flop over. He straightened up, what looked like a champagne bottle in his right hand. “One hour and forty-eight minutes, from the butt end of Kingsgate to here. Did pretty good, dontcha think?”

Maybe it was retaliation for that other time or maybe it was just that he was happy to see her, but Jude practically made the bed shift a foot to the left when he jumped on it. “Wake up sleepyhead,” he said as he straddled the bundle underneath him. “Throw on a nice dress because my friend got us tickets to his club and we’re going to the cityyyy.”
