Hey! What is your sons name? P.s. hes a cutie!

Huxley :)

His namesake is from the English biologist/zoologist (comparative anatomist) Thomas Henry Huxley, also nicknamed ‘Darwin’s Bulldog’, as he was an ardent supporter of Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution by natural selection. I wanted to give Huxley a name that would enrich his life with deeper meaning and strength. Thomas Henry Huxley didn’t have a formal education, but he was passionately curious about the natural world, self learning, and inevitably, communicating the wonder of the actual reality of nature to others. He even coined the term ‘Agnosticism’, which I’ve self identified with since I left the Christian faith.

I realize that ‘agnosticism’ has been sneered at by more militant atheists as some form of intellectual dishonesty, but I respectfully disagree. I never thought it wise to be so incredibly overconfident in a belief system to which there is no evidence to support such claims; yet, strikingly, ignorance of the natural world and the laws of the universe are almost wished away by religious fundamentalists as if their holy book contains the actual truth, whereas all this ‘science’ is just a means of trying to grapple with one’s “confusion” due to a struggle to believe? Anyway, I find that exclaiming and proudly identifying as an atheist is similar to that kind of perception; where its defiantly expressed that there is, in fact and certainty, no supernatural force or deity responsible for the creation of the universe, which, of course, is not a statement an honest scientist would make.

In regards to Agnosticism, however, Thomas Henry Huxley asserts:

Agnosticism, in fact, is not a creed, but a method, the essence of which lies in the rigorous [sic] application of a single principle… the fundamental axiom of modern science… In matters of the intellect, follow your reason as far as it will take you, without regard to any other consideration… In matters of the intellect, do not pretend that conclusions are certain which are not demonstrated or demonstrable.”

I identify more so with this logic because although we’ve advanced modern science quite far over the last 500 years, there’s much to learn, and so much we don’t understand. The fact that we have prestigious scientists and research organizations/institutions who cannot distinctly determine whether or not we are living in a simulation is, well, baffling and frightening all the same.

Agnosticism leaves open the possible; it doesn’t give credence or any shred of validity or even probability to human-manifested ideologies which superimpose then-current “knowledge” over the entire universe simply to comfort the individual with a warm illusion in stark contrast to what reality communicates to us through meticulous scientific inquiry.

“I am too much of a skeptic to deny the possibility of anything…”

— Thomas Henry Huxley

A tour through Thomas Henry Huxley’s life will enrich you with insight into how wonderful and complimentary of a man he was to human society, which I feel is a humble honor to gift my son this name in dedication to him; but also, a dedication forward through Huxley’s life whether I’m present for it all or not, because his namesake is a continual reminder to remain curious, skeptical, and intellectually honest himself.

Below is a lovely little short on Thomas Henry Huxley’s importance.

Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–1895) was a biologist and science educationist. Here, Henry McGhie, Head of Collections and Curator of Zoology at Manchester Museum, tells us why Huxley is his University of Manchester heritage hero.

remember when bey jacked indian culture in the vid for her coldplay collab and everyone on this site suddenly went mute re: cultural appropriation just because it was her. and then decided calling her out was anti-black. and then decided an american was incapable of appropriating stuff from a developing country because indians buy skin lightening cream or smth? i think that was the point i realized tumblr discourse re: race was fake as hell lmaooo

i saw posts saying that it was okay bc there are countries/groups in africa that have the same or similar culture or something like that but wasn’t the video centered around an indian color festival? ppl r too much

I'm just so glad I follow you because your headcanons for Frank are so identical to mine. I just saw your sexual/romantic post and it makes me so happy you touched on Frank being a gentle lover. Frank has such an aggressive life and if he is going to be having sex I just KNOW it's going to be passionate but gentle. Gentle Frank is so so important to me and I'm so happy you see that too.

Aaaahhhhhhhh thank you so much!!! Honestly I have like. An essay I want to write about Frank/sex one of these days, because based on what I’ve read in the comics and the way it’s approached in fandom… I have a lot of thoughts and I want to put them to paper someday soon.

As it stands I really feel like Frank, at least before he was the Punisher, didn’t really go crazy re: sex in his life. He’s spent the majority of his adult life in the military, and he’s somewhere in his mid-30s with a twelve year old daughter. He’s been married a long time and he has two pre-teen children. I get the impression that this is a guy who is faithful and loyal to his partner and was probably with Maria for a long long time, potentially even before he joined the Marines, so as far as experience goes, it’s probably relatively limited to married sex with a partner he was immensely comfortable with. Pair that up with my headcanon that he’s somewhere on the ace spectrum- I always have a hard time seeing Frank as someone who is especially kinky or brutal when it comes to sex.

That’s not to say he isn’t happy with rough or excited sex, but I think he’s the sort of person, for sure, where soft, gentle stuff is almost considered a kink for him. His life is so violent and so blood soaked that tenderness probably really rocks his world when that sort of thing happens.

I think he’s kind of a partner pleaser first and foremost, in no small part because as the Punisher he very rarely considers his own enjoyment in.. anything. (Which is a whole other slew of headcanons about self worth that I won’t get into.) So he’ll go with the pace that his partner sets, but if given the opportunity for something soft and slow and easy… whoo boy. Thhhat’s a good night for Frank.

Frank Castle is incredibly important to me too and I feel exactly the same when it comes to him being important to others. <3

“Do not misunderstand us. There is no doubt you have changed everything we have ever known as a species. However, we do not know what this could mean. Not to mention the rather…questionable traits your subjects have.” Aro said.
“I can control them, I can make them conform to rules and regulations. They do as I say. They could reproduce. They could act as a guard within themselves.” “With all due respect sir, these aren’t the questionable traits that we speak of.”

They couldn’t ignore the violent nature each subject possessed. They couldn’t ignore their lack in personality. They were like robots. He said it himself, he designed and mutated the DNA to what he wished. They acted how he desired. He changed them using this mutated venom.
So one question remained.

Why would he create them to be intelligent, tactical and violent by nature?

Sometimes… when I’m sad… I just think about what it would be like to hug one of my faves… and suddenly things seem a little brighter…

I am not a deity, I struggle to take everything in even in small doses. This universe my life created for me is too full and I’m not immortal enough to see all of it. There are moments when I think I could be. Immortal, that is. The temporariness of this state of being comes and goes from my mind like fleeting wishes for winter snow. When it does come, it’s when the world is dark and quiet and my mind is trying to fill in all the blanks: Where was all of this before me? What will happen to it when I finally leave it behind? When it does come, it’s when I’m closest to the quiet nothing that was before I took my very first breath.
