You know what I just realized? I really don’t get allosexuals.
*Example*
I’m hanging out with friends. Two of them are together. One of them looks at the other and says, “I’m thirsty”.
Now I know there are two definitions for thirsty. But I have no idea which definition they’re using.
I mean, they were kind of looking at each other sexually? *Side note: allo body language is strange too.*
So I start looking for something else to do in case they start making out. I mean, I guess I COULD try to carry on the conversation with them, but that seems a little rude.
They notice.
They start going over the top with sexual language, exaggerated voices, blah, blah.

Allos who know I’m ace tend to do this around me. I don’t know why. Is it normal allo behavior? Is it because I look uncomfortable? Is it because my life is actually a sitcom, and it gets a laugh from the audience? These are questions that will continue to be asked, but never answered.

Anyway, they leave. I now assume the orginal statement was sexual, and they left to go to their place to fuck.

They come back 15 minutes later, having gone to Walmart for Cokes. I state my confusion, they point out my mistake, laugh, and call me a prude.

HOW was I supposed to know?!

Is there some kind of secret allo code? Are they telepathic?

So if someone could explain this to me, that would be great.

Also, when I look away from people kissing/making out, I get the same, “Don’t be a prude” reaction.

…?

I can only look at you or away from you? I was trying to be polite by giving you space? Seriously, do allos just watch their friends kiss/make out?

I am so confused.

Creators Misunderstanding Their Fan Base: Undertale

I love Undertale, so do many others. However, I love Undertale because of the fan base. I have met so many kind and determined individuals that I wouldn’t have met otherwise if not for Undertale. Many of these people are artists, and it’s nice to see the same characters drawn in so many different styles. Even better is when there is a story written about Undertale, a what if this happened instead of this? Great examples of this are Dreamtale, by @jokublog (currently not theirs more about that later), Glitchverse, by @camilaart, and Xtale/Underverse, by Jackei/@xtaleunderverse. There are many more alternate stories/universes I would love to share but I really want to focus on these two right now. As you may or may not know, both these creators make animations/comics based off their story lines, and they are incredible. The amount of effort that goes into each and every frame of animation is jaw dropping to say the least. The story is also pretty great compared to most, especially Glitchtale’s constant subversion of every expectation and Underverse’s imaginative plot and character portrayal are no small feat either. It’s immediately clear that a lot of effort goes into their work to make it as great as possible and create their animations fairly quickly. However, I’m not here to simply sing their praises because the title isn’t “Amazing Undertale Universes You Have To See To Believe” no, this is “Creators Misunderstanding Their Fan Base: Undertale” 

 Recently a story came out about Joku threatening to use her fan base against another person who was just giving feedback on a shirt that they made. This led to them deleting their blog and now it’s being held by a nice individual so that Joku can have the name back if she wants. Joku makes sure people know that she is getting lots of hate over this misbehavior of hers. She’s making it seem like her fan base is full of haters that demand comics every week and don’t care about the person behind the project at all. Her “fans” led her to deleting her blog that she had used for a while now, over one small incident. That’s. Not. True. Joku’s fans are passionate, without a doubt, but they have huge amounts of respect for the amount of work that goes into this complex narrative that Joku is almost always working on. Joku, you’re fans are there, making fan art, liking your posts, and sending positive words your way, but you don’t care about that, do you? You just want to show everyone that you can overcome the haters by yourself, but you can’t, nobody can on their own. You say you ignore the haters, but dealing with what I’ve heard people say about you in silence, isn’t a great idea. If you open up more to your audience, show your real fans that you still care about them, I have no doubt that there will be a shift in the types of people who view your content. I along with many others didn’t hate you for what you did, was it a bit uncalled for? Yea, a little bit, but that one incident with someone WHO’S ALREADY FORGIVEN AND APOLOGIZED FOR MAKING IT PUBLIC, shouldn’t have led to you deleting your blog. The blog is being held for you, your choices are to reset back to zero and build your blog all over again, or quit and leave everyone.

 Jackei, the creator of Xtale and Underverse, is passionate about her work. Her amazing narrative and intense animations make it a joy to experience through and through, but she has her flaws as well. One day you’ll get a hilarious shitpost from Jackei about how she got braces, the next a comic about how she is having to stand against her fans barrage of negativity. I’m saying it right now that there is a difference in HATING and CRITICIZING and it’s easy to tell which is which. Hate usually is opinionated, relying on the same feeling from others to help boost their opinion into more of a fact. Fans that criticize a work however often point out actual problems with the product they were presented with. Maybe the animation was a bit low quality in some places, or maybe the dialog didn’t add anything to the situation, but whatever it is its a real problem that they just shed light on for you. Those fans care, unlike the haters you insist are your fans. Many people really love your intense devotion to your work, making comics often along with incredible animations that have breathtaking moments a plenty, but it sucks when someone you hugely respect talks down to you. You make it clear that whenever you get hate you try to deal with it in silence, and for the most part if you are a strong enough person that works out really well for you. Not only does it improve your image as a creator but it makes fans think much much more of you as a person. However, you show us that side of you way too much, and its clear you want to be that person you portray yourself as. You’ve gotten much better about showing us that you can withstand the hate sent your way, and your shitposts/memes are always a joy to behold, but why not show off the better side of your fan base, the people who really care about you and your work. It’d make a difference in how you view your fans. Just remember Jackei, haters shout loud because they want others to hear them, but when a fan comments, they don’t even expect an answer from anyone.

 Camila is an incredible artist as well, creating a 20 minute animation in less than 4 months is unreal. On top of that the animations feature a standard of quality not usually seen in animations made in the same amount of time. However, Camila is known to harp on people for asking when the latest episode is going to come out. Her response is usually a meme or her telling them to chill and just wait. Camila has the opposite issue that Jackei does, she will show all the asks about when the episode is coming out, making it seem like that’s all her fan base cares about. That and her talking down to her fans often, sometimes calling them stupid for not understanding a small detail in the animation. She’s who Jackei strives to be, impervious to all hate sent her way. To be honest, it’s not the best way to act towards your fans, sometimes people honestly just want to know because they are hyped for the next episode. Especially with the amount of information Camila will spoil about the episode, when in reality it’s mostly misdirection to make hers fans come to one conclusion before the episode even starts, just so she can subvert everyone’s expectations in the end. It’s incredible how many times I knew what would happen just because I followed Camila’s tumblr, @camilaart. Camila, I desperately wanted to donate $50 to you on patreon after you lost part of your house because I desired to talk to the biggest inspiration in my life at the time. To be honest I still want to, but I’m only 15 and I have no income for which to donate to either of you, sorry /;-;/. Camila, your awe inspiring, I just wish you would act more mature and be more loyal to people. After what happened to Jackei you threw her under the bus, reblogging what she said just to garner it more exposure. It’s shocking how many people you turn on after someone comes out with something bad about that person, like Jackei and Ultima almighty. You’re getting much better though about pointing out positive things, like animators and artists who have almost no exposure on youtube, is pretty amazing. It’d be amazing though, if you could use the positives to detract haters instead of memes. You’re a role model for some people whether you want to believe it or not, and sometimes people take anything that role models say as undeniable fact. Your on the right path, please don’t reset again. 

(Everything I said are just my thoughts on these two amazing animators, I just really want to get these out their so that maybe they will both see this post and reflect on themselves as creators. I plan to do more of these but I don’t what topics/people to do yet. And guys, don’t hate these artists just for me pointing out a few things wrong with them, that’s the complete opposite of what I’m trying to say. If you don’t like them, then just ignore them, it’s as simple as that. Thanks for reading this, it truly means a lot to me.)

I listened as they called my President a Muslim.

Court no matter who the nominee was.
I listened as they openly said that they will oppose him at every turn.
I watched as they did just that.
I listened.

I paid attention.
Now, I’m being called on to be tolerant.
To move forward.
To denounce protesters.
To “Get over it.”
To accept this…
I will not.
I will do my part to make sure this great American mistake becomes the
embarrassing footnote of our history that it deserves to be.

So apparently there is a “Boruto SD” series in Japan, and the first issue showcases how scary Hinata can be when she is angry.

I don’t know what exactly Boruto and Denki did to piss off Hinata that much but I suspect it has something to do with the fact that Boruto’s pants are down.

Mon-El straight up said that he was an ass and admitted that she was right and he was wrong without any prompting whatsoever. And conceded that her way of handling things was better and more effective. Plus, Rather than being upset or angry that she stepped on his heart and tricked him, he’s impressed. (all while having just been supposedly rejected by her)

One of my favorite things about him is that - even if it takes him a minute sometimes - he’s always cool with accepting his mistakes and faults and admitting when he’s wrong. He knew he had screwed up and that she had every right to be mad at him so he didn’t try to push her to forgive him or anything like that. He was there to apologize and tell her that he saw his mistakes, he saw the position he had put her in and he knew that it wasn’t right for him to do that.

Honestly, I don’t want a perfect character that never makes mistakes. I want a flawed character who can own up to it when they see where they have faltered. A character who listens to the people around them and doesn’t write off what they say for the sake of what they want. Like I said - it may take him a minute but he always gets there.

Also him acknowledging that things were easier when he was an asshat was actually a good thing. Because it’s him pointing out that he doesn’t see things or feel the same way about things as he did before.

honestly I started watching supergirl expecting Mon El to be a stereotypical fratboy type of man who gets better with time, and maybe is still a bit selfish and antagonizes Kara

and then Mon El actually showed up and ?? he was yes, more ‘selfish’, more focused on his survival (like many people are) but also… he wasn’t mean? he wasn’t maliciously insensitive? he wasn’t purposefully antagonist and he didn’t attack Kara at every turn, he was just reasonably sad about his planet and having, you know, lost everything and everyone, and he started learning really fast and chose to try to be a hero after all, after a first few moments of uncertainty on who he wanted to be, and then he took example from Kara, their champion

and he comes from a place with different morals but is learning this new world’s way of acting, and not even fighting it, and when he and Kara argue sometimes it’s because he isn’t being his best self and other times because she’s the one acting too harshly or prejudiced, and in both cases the tvshow points out that one of them is being wrong (they both recognize their mistakes and try to do better) and he’s basically being at her side without following orders mindlessly, and he doesn’t hold against her when she rejects him, not even when she unnecessarily and accidentally insults his personality while he’s at work (Kara wasn’t being malicious either, she was just confused and self-preservation also kicked in, but we all know that a male character would have been crucified for it), he just wants to stay friends, he keeps being loyal, he points out when things are suspicious, and he was being very rational about their father and didn’t attack Kara and Alex afterwards for their attitude because he understood that they were letting their feelings guide them…

he’s just so sweet and supportive, and he’s trying to his best, and he makes mistakes, especially due to his upbringing, but he also works on fixing them, and he and Kara have realistic conversations where they end up giggling while talking ('I want a heavy cape’. On tv usually nobody has conversations with their voices overlapping and people laughing at how they sound, it’s the same as not having people misspell a word, but in this tv show they do and it’s adorable) and he encourages her and believes in her, and he’s basically a puppy, as others pointed out, and we are getting to know all of him, soon enough his backstory as well, so we can see how far he already came, and I’m just so heart-eyes over this character, because I adore Kara, and whether he’s a love-interest or a best friend (though I’m so glad that from the beginning it was a clear love-interest set up) I can’t imagine someone more suited for her, between being a cinnamon roll but also stubborn and someone who can also argue with her and that pushes her to be better and more open while he’s pushed to be better and more heroic

they are both so lovely, but while I knew she’d be a cutie, I had NO IDEA he’d be so wonderful

Hello there! I’ve been meaning to do this post for so long, but decided to wait for the season to end instead.

Since so many people have their doubts on whether Bum has an accurate portrayal of BPD or if he even has that disorder, I’ll try to explain that over here as best as I can, coming from an actual person diagnosed with BPD and a psychology student.

We are gonna go through the DSM V criteria along with other traits that I consider worth mentioning.

Libra moon things: I hate when people disagree with me and do so with bias instead of objectivity. That’s fine to disagree with me, that’s not that point at all before anyone misinterprets; it’s another thing to claim what you’re saying is ultimately right because of your own subjective (and hurt) feelings. Then, when I debate back with objectivity, with facts, I’m being ‘rude’ or unsympathetic, so I just avoid it all together. Not sure how many times I’ve been attacked for sounding arrogant or heartless simply because I’m using proper evidence instead of catering to the emotions of others. On the contrary, I’m a very “feeling” person, extremely empathetic, and I am certainly emotional, but I don’t let that blind me or falter logic and practicality. I make it a point to debate neutrally and with no bias. You can scoff and whine about how I’m rude because I’m not babying your feelings, or choose not listen to me when I’m doing my best to show you logical proof, but the conversation will then end there immediately. People mistake this for “avoiding confrontation,” oh goodness, do they love abusing this phrase to describe Libra moon. No, it is not that I’m avoiding confrontation out of cowardice, it’s more, I’m not going to have a discussion or a debate with someone when there is no equity or mutual respect.

(Y/N) is the new student at Beacon Hills High School and she has a secret. Being born blind, she was never able to see a thing, until she was attacked by a wild animal. To this day she has never told anyone about it. So will she do it now?

“Have a nice day,”  my mom said with a smile. I ignored her and rolled my eyes behind my dark sunglasses.

“We’ll see about that,” I finally spoke out. Before my mother could respond I opened the door of the car and quickly shut once I was outside. My mom didn’t try to go after me. She had already failed enough to know that it wouldn’t help anyone. Instead, she drove away, leaving me in front of the big and old building of Beacon Hills High School.

I rummaged through my bag until I found my white cane. I grabbed it and unfolded it. Once I was sure it was on complete length, I made my way to the entrance. I could feel the eyes on me. But I was already used to it. It only happened for whole my life.

I was born blind. I will always remember when I was four and heard my mom crying the day before my first day of school. “Why couldn’t she be normal,” she cried to my father. It crushed my little heart. Fortunately school itself wasn’t too bad. The bad thing was that when I was 13, my dad had gotten a new job which was a result of a lot of moving around the country. Beacon Hills High would be my… 8 school. But my parents promised me that it will be the last one before college.

So, yeah. I was born blind, but I can see actually now. A few years ago, I was in the woods with my parents when I got attacked by some wild animal. It resulted in me going to the hospital and staying there for three weeks in the intensive care. At least that’s what people told me, because I was unconscious for most of it. The weird thing was, that when I woke up, I could see. I could see the hospital room, the bed I was in, everything. I never told anyone about it. Not even my parents. I knew that it would rise up weird questions and they would probably send me to a secret lab to get me checked out. ´

I walked until my cane hit the stairs. I sighed just when a female voice behind me asked if I needed some help.

“Oh no, I’m fine. But thank you.” I smiled to the girl. I looked at her through my glasses. Fortunately she didn’t see that. How could I explain why I - a blind person - was eyeing her down.

The girl was shorter than me. She had long fiery hair and she was wearing a light sundress. She gave me a kind smile.

“Well, let me at least help you get to your locker.”

“That would be great.” I smiled. We walked together up the stairs and when we got to the door and she held it open for me. I ticked around with my stick and thanked her again.

“I’m Lydia by the way.”

“(Y/N)” I introduced myself. Lydia guided me through the busy hallway and talked about the school and her friends: “I’m sure you’ll love them.” We walked for a few more seconds before Lydia finally realised she was missing some major piece of information.

“228,” I said before she could even ask me.

“How did you know?”

“I assumed you will ask me sooner or later.” I smiled and I saw her let out a small laugh.

“Well, here it is,” we stopped in front of a locker.

“Lydia, could you tell me on which number the lock is positioned?”

“Uhm, it’s a five,”

“Thanks.” I touched around on my locker for the lock and once I got it, I started to twist it to get my combination. It finally unlocked and I started to get my books out. One by one, I felt for the letters and started to think when I was gonna need them. In the meantime, Lydia had to get her own books, so she said goodbye and that she would meet me at lunch. So I was, again, all alone. I had no idea what to do now. I closed my locker and unfolded my schedule paper. I felt the small dots:

I turned around from my locker, on the other side of the hall, right opposite of me, there was a boy. He was trying to stuff in his already packed locker.

I though. He was also my only option, because for some reason, this hallway was completely empty.

I took my cane and started to walk towards him. I waved it around slightly until I lightly hit his ankle. He immediately turned around. He seemed confused at first, but when he saw my cane his expression changed to a softer one.

“Hi.”

“Hey,” I smiled, “I was wondering if you could, maybe, guide me to my lesson.”

“What gives me the honor of this,” he laughed, but I could hear that he meant it in a kind way.

“Because, from what I could hear, we are the only people in this hallway.”

“Right.” his wide smile dropped a bit. “So what class so you have?”

“Uhm, Econ from a certain mr FInstock.” I told him. His smile returned as quickly as it vanished.

“Great, that’s where Iḿ heading off to too.” He offered his hand for me to shake, “My name’s Stiles.”

“(Y/N), nice to meet you.” I held out my hand a bit more to the left than his hand was. Stiles quickly realised his mistake and took my hand from the direction I was pointing it at.

“Nice to meet you too.” he shook it.

I have been here for less than 15 minutes, I have already been pleasantly surprised by a few people. It almost never happened that somebody opened the door for me. Or didn’t correct me when I didn’t hold out my hand in the right direction. Obviously I do it not to look suspicious, but I will always remember when it wasn’t just an act and when I was really blind. I couldn’t see a damn thing in front of me and people always used to talk about it like it was nothing. But here, it was already different. Especially the next thing.

“Here, take my hand. Than you can get rid of that cane.”Stiles offered. He out his hand on mine and I gladly grabbed it. With my other hand, I folded my cane and put it in my bag. For a second I thought if he maybe had a blind relative, but I couldn’t really figure it out. He was a big mystery, just like me…

“Ladies and Gentleman, this will be the last stop, please step out.” he badly mimicked train conductor but I still couldn’t help but laugh. We walked into the classroom, still hand in hand, and he only let me go when I was seated. Stiles took the seat next to me.

Soon after, the bell rang and the rest of the class walked in, followed by a man who looked like he was electrocuted and after that still had drunk a couple of cups of coffee.

“Alright, everybody, get your books out.” he said as he sat on the corner of his desk. I felt around in my bag for the book with the dots that spelled out

and after some time, I finally found it. I put it on the table, together with a small recorder to record the notes. It would be a bit hard to write for me, I figured.

Once I had all my stuff ready, I realised that the teacher had not said on which page we should open our books. He had written it on the board. Clearly, he did not know about me, or he was too stubborn to care about it.

I was about to get a small panic attack, when from beside me, Stiles whispered: “page 63.”

“Thank you.” I replied just as softly as he did.

“Who can summarise last lessons reading. No, not you Greenberg, everybody knows you can.” mr Finstock practically yelled into the classroom. He looked around the classroom, until his eyes spotted me. My heart skipped a few beats. I knew what was coming.

“You, knew girl. What’s your name?” I stuttered out my name and, again, I could feel all eyes on me. Except for Stiles’. He was switching his look from me to the teacher as if he was watching a tennis match.

“Okay, new girl. I assume you didn’t do the reading. So, come upfront and tell us something about yourself.” I stood up, shakingly. Right when I was already standing, I realised that I didn’t have my cane. Then I heard something: “Just walk straight on. There are no bags. You’re safe.” it was Stiles. Very slowly, I made my way to the front of the class. Then I turned around and all those eyes made me sick. Everybody was staring at me.

“And take those glasses off, weŕe inside.” a boy in the back said loudly. Some people started to laugh, but the majority had seen me already in the hallways and knew why I had them. But still, that prick wanted a show, so I would give him one.

I took of my glasses and this was followed by a girl screaming. Apparently no body expected the gruesome scar that was splitting most of my face in half. The boy that seemed so happy with himself just seconds ago, looked as if he was going to puke. What was surprising to me was, that Stiles didn’t look bothered at all with my appearance.

“Well, My name is (Y/F/N), I am 16 years old and as you have figured: I am blind.” it was completely silent. “But the funny thing is,” I laughed a bit, “is that this-” I pointed around on my face, “is not the reason of it. You see, I was born blind and a few years ago I got attacked by a wild animal in the woods and this is how I got it.” the girl that screamed before, was looking paler and paler. I smiled widely, maybe a bit crazy looking with my top half of the face totally messed up. “Hopefully we can all be great friends.” at the end, I turned my head a bit in the direction of the prick that was still looking as if he was gonna be sick in a matter of seconds.

“Alright.” mr Finstock said after a moment of silence, “let’s get you back in your seat. Stilinski, get over here.” Stiles stood up and walked over to me. I had put on my glasses again and he helped me get to my seat.

“That was amazing,” Stiles told me once we were seated.

After that class, I decided to just keep holding my cane the whole time. If the teachers would see that, they would understand why I have my glasses and I wouldn’t have to traumatize more kids… as fun as that was.

“Let’s go get some food,” Stiles said as we walked out of English classroom. We passed a lot of people. Through my glasses, I could see them looking at me and whispering. I decided to play a little game myself, so every time I saw someone whispering I would turn my head towards them and look straight into their eyes. Obviously they didn’t see that I was looking at them. One girl even screamed and ran away.

We turned a few corners and walked through a couple of hallways until, we had reached the cafeteria. It was packed, which made me a bit nervous.

“Alright, so hold my hand and just follow me,” Stiles reassured me, as if he knew how anxious I was. I reached out for his hand which he quickly took and we made our way through the space that was filled with screaming teenagers, until we stopped at a table in the far corner. There were already some people sitting there, including Lydia.

“Okay, (Y/N), let me introduce you to everybody. First we got Scott,” he pointed to a boy that was sitting at the table. Scott was tall and actually quite muscular, but he hid it under  baggy sweatshirt. His hair was short and black. He gave me a kind of a crooked smile.

“Next we have Kira, she’s Scott’s girlfriend.” Stiles explained. Kira was a skinny girl with long dark hair. She waved a bit awkwardly as she was eating her lunch and had taken a huge bite of her sandwich right when Stiles introduced her to me.

“Then we have Lydia.”

“We have already met,” Lydia interrupted my guide.

“Okay, so that leaves Malia,” he introduced the girl that was sitting opposite of Lydia. She looked much taller than any of the other girls (including me) and also a bit wild. She looked at me with a confused expression.

“You smell weird. What are you?” I was taken aback by her question, just like everyone else at the table. Lydia clearly kicked her because Malia let out a small yelp and gave Lydia a look.

“I’m… blind,” I said a bit uncomfortably.

“Well, that was everybody here,” Stiles said after a short moment of awkward silence.

“Hey!” a voice came from behind Malia. It was a boy, that was clearly younger than anyone at the table.

“Oh, right. That’s Liam. He’s kind of an idiot.” Stiles whispered the last part to me as he let me sit down next to Liam.

“And that’s Stiles. He’s a total dick by the way.” Liam said as I sat down next to him, what made me giggle for a bit. From the corner of my eye, I could see that Scott was looking at me a bit weirdly. Just like Malia did before.

The rest of the day went by smoothly. Definitely better than I had expected. Even though I kept on getting strange looks from both Malia and Scott, everybody was very nice to me.

After the last lesson had ended, Kira offered to take me to the exit. I found out that she was actually a really funny girl. A bit awkward, but also very funny. And apparently, she was half Japanese, half Korean.

“Well, I love sushi.” I said.

“Great. The rest don’t really like it.” she said.

“They don’t know what they are missing.” I told her. Kira smiled and then started to tell me a story about her “first date” with Scott. Apparently they had dinner at her place (with her parents) and they ate sushi, when Scott ate a whole mouthful of wasabi, because he thought it was guacamole. We both laughed about it until we had reached the car of my mother.

“I will se- talk to you tomorrow.” she had quickly changed her words. I smiled.

“It’s okay,” I assured her, “It would only be weird if I said it.” we started to laugh again and then I got into the car. Kira waved to my mother and then left.

“I see you made a friend.” she said.

“Yeah.” I said happily and she drove off.

i love how everyone automatically hates Courtney and Bryce like they’re fucken disgusting.

Justin - was a douche at the start but learning more and more about his past, its made me come to realize how much shit he’s been through and how much he truly loves and cares for jessica. I think he deserves a second chance. Yeah he was shit for not telling Jessica, but if you think about it, he had the right intentions, just the wrong actions. He tried to stop Bryce, but he was pushed out and shit. I get his intentions and some of them are pretty cool (if it has to do with the people he cares about)

Jessica - honestly I hated her at the last few episodes because what kind of girl lets her “friend” go into deep shit? Like seriously man, You knew that girl. And you broke your whole friendship over a guy. it’s okay to be mad but not enough to cut someone off, especially when she needed you the most. AND she was shit to Justin. Like why the fuck did you flirt with bryce if you knew that he raped you? Even if you don’t believe it, do you think it was safe to hang out with someone who was even accused of doing so?

Sheri - is okay, she owned up to her mistakes (BUT SHE WAS THE REASON WHY MY BABY IS DEAD)

Courtney - douche douche douche. If i start my rant this will be long af

Zach - His actions were just all out of anger. But he was the nicest out of the jocks. + brownie points because he is such a good brother. I just find it shit that he ignored Justin

Alex - he owned up to his problems and I love him for that. I’m glad he knew what he did wrong and he understood

Bryce - piece of shit that shows the world what people are capable of when they have ignorant minds.

Clay - is a cutie okay, he was just dense and very reckless

Jeff - JEff is my baby who deserves everything good in life, truly the biggest MVP

Tyler - creepy shit though, over steps his boundaries as a photographer

Ryan - is so sassy i love it. So glad that he acknowledges how much of an asshole he is bc of his arrogance and i love him because he calls out courtney “come out, come out little girl”

You know what I just realized? I really don’t get allosexuals. 
*Example*
I’m hanging out with friends. Two of them are together. One of them looks at the other and says, “I’m thirsty”.
Now I know there are two definitions for thirsty. But I have no idea which definition they’re using.
I mean, they were kind of looking at each other sexually? *Side note: allo body language is strange too.*
So I start looking for something else to do in case they start making out. I mean, I guess I COULD try to carry on the conversation with them, but that seems a little rude.
They notice.
They start going over the top with sexual language, exaggerated voices, blah, blah. Allos who know I’m ace tend to do this around me. I don’t know why. Is it normal allo behavior? Is it because I look uncomfortable? Is it because my life is actually a sitcom, and it gets a laugh from the audience? These are questions that will continue to be asked, but never answered. Anyway, they leave. I now assume the orginal statement was sexual, and they left to go to their place to fuck. They come back 15 minutes later, having gone to Walmart for Cokes. I state my confusion, they point out my mistake, laugh, and call me a prude. HOW was I supposed to know?! Is there some kind of secret allo code? Are they telepathic? So if someone could explain this to me, that would be great. Also, when I look away from people kissing/making out, I get the same, “Don’t be a prude” reaction. …? I can only look at you or away from you? I was trying to be polite by giving you space? Seriously, do allos just watch their friends kiss/make out? I am so confused. Send help.

I have a gay relationships in my novel. I want to make it a non-factor, just a relationship as solid and screwed up as any other. It is not the main characters, and I fear that I am fucking up by making a trope of "gay best friend." The novel is not about statements on gay culture and I simply felt it fit and wanted to show I support all forms of love. As a straight male, should I just leave it out. Leave it alone? How do I do this correctly?

Well, man, as a gay dude, I gotta ask one thing. How the hell do you deal with the straight relationships in your story? How do you fit them in without feeling like you’re making statements on straight culture? If you represent one straight relationship bad, does that mean all straight people are like that?

Okay, on a real note, you’re so afraid of something, you’re forgetting to look at your characters as people. Breathe in. Relax. You’re aware that you’ve probably absorbed stereotypes about “gay culture” (in quotations because, given how myriad and ever-changing that could be based on the individual, I honestly don’t know what you could mean), and that’s good. But you’re letting fear paralyze you before you even start, and I’m betting you don’t even know what you’re afraid of!

There are always things you could do. Write it like any other relationship, remember your characters are people, not stereotypes. Seek out media by LGBT people about LGBT people. Watch Moonlight, if you don’t know where to start.

Write knowing you’ll make mistakes, get second opinions. If your instincts are telling you the relationship feels hollow, trust them. Get third opinions. Mistakes are fixable. Everyone screws up characters at one point or another.

Just give it a shot, man. You can’t fix something if you never try in the first place.

So you lost your muse for a specific character? Don’t worry we all do every once in a while. I’ve noticed a couple mistakes I often make when trying to find my muse again though and have pointed them out in hopes to help some people like me out! If anyone else has other bad habits they do feel free to send them into me and I can add it to the list.

Before you moved to live on campus for college, you had never heard of a librarian who had a reputation for yelling. But not only does Min Yoongi yell, he’s also dangerous, and part of something much, much darker. When curiosity gets the better of you, you end up involved in much more than you bargained for.

What choice did you have but to agree? Jinyoung smiled and said you were making the right decision, and you tried not to show the anger you felt on your face. You couldn’t afford for Jinyoung to think you weren’t going to keep up your end of the deal. If he distrusted you for even a second, it could easily result in not only Yoongi’s and the rest of Bangtan’s death, but yours as well.

Jinyoung gave you instructions before he left, telling you where Namjoon’s office was and where to look for the files that you would need. You had asked in a moment of misjudgment why he hadn’t just taken the information himself, why it had to be you, and he had laughed. Apparently, as long as you were the one to turn Bangtan over to the police, it didn’t violate the treaty. Then, any of the lower-level members who weren’t sent to jail could join Jaebum with a clear conscience. It was amazing, you thought, how important this treaty was to them.

“You see? It’s all easy to explain. You got scared, ran to the police, and oops… Their leaders are all in jail and our hands are clean.”

You wanted to point out that you would probably end up dead if you did what they were asking you to do, but kept your mouth shut until Jinyoung was long gone.

You pulled your phone out of your bag, trying to keep the shaking from your hands. You dialed Taehyung as you sat on the floor next to your bed. You didn’t know what to do, but you knew that if you actually sold out Yoongi’s brothers, he would never forgive you. Not to mention, they had been nothing but kind to you (save for Jungkook maybe, but you suspected that he had his reasons). It hardly seemed like the right way to repay their compassion.

“Hey, I don’t think you’ve ever called me, is everything okay?” Taehyungs voice snapped you out of your thoughts, and you took a deep breath. It occurred to you that it was entirely possible that Jinyoung had placed a bug in your room before you even got there, and that you had no way to know if you were being listened to by someone other than Taehyung.

“I think I left my sweater at your house the other day.” You lied, knowing that it wasn’t going to sound even remotely convincing to Taehyung. “I’ll meet you at your house in a few, ok?”

You were greeted at the door by an irritated Jungkook telling you that he had looked everywhere and your sweater wasn’t there.

“I know.” You said, pushing past him and walking into the house. “Where’s Taehyung?”

“You know.” Jungkook repeated flatly. “As in, you knew all along and I just spent all that time looking for something that doesn’t exist?”

“Yep.” Jungkook crossed his arms, somehow looking even more agitated than before.

Why?”

“You’d never know, but he’s not normally like this.” Taehyung said, approaching the two of you. “He just really doesn’t like you.”

You explained quickly what had happened and what Jinyoung had told you. Taehyung lead you into the living room as you spoke, and Jungkook followed.

“He’s gone completely off the handle.” Taehyung said thoughtfully. “Jaebum’s always had it out for Yoongi, and now he’s gotten sloppy.” He grinned at Jungkook. “I think this calls for some fun.”

Jungkooks frown deepened. “This isn’t a good thing, Taehyung. And we need to talk to Namjoon before doing anything—“

“Yeah, yeah.” Taehyung waved a hand dismissively at Jungkook. “Now that I think of it, why haven’t we ever done the same thing to Jaebum? Turn over files to the police I mean.”

“Because it’s cowardly to do something like that, and it’s still a violation of the treaty that we honor, unlike Jaebum apparently.” 

“Oh, yeah.” Taehyung shrugged, the smile returning to his face. “What do you say we give old Jaebum a taste of his own medicine?”

“That is, by far, the dumbest thing you have ever said.”

The plan came together faster than you would have guessed. Taehyung called Namjoon in (who was followed by Jimin and Hoseok) and explained what was going on, then his brilliant plan that Jungkook said was insane. And it probably was, but it was better than any of the other options you could think of.

“Does anyone else think that we should inform Yoongi of what we’re doing?” Hoseok mused, and Jungkook laughed. You had never heard the youngest laugh, it was deep and full, and felt entirely out of place in the otherwise silent room.

“Yeah, let’s tell Min Yoongi that we’re going to use his crush as bait, fantastic idea.” Jungkook continued laughing, and Jimin rolled his eyes.

“She’s not bait, she’s…” He looked over at you, contemplating. “A distraction.” No one had asked you if you wanted to be part of this, but you were pretty sure that at this point, you didn’t have much of a choice. You had come to the realization earlier that as long as Jaebum was around, Yoongi would never be truly left alone to live his life. He might have had a chance before you got involved, but that had been lost the moment Yoongi broke Jaebum’s ribs. You felt somewhat responsible for Yoongi’s re-involvement in the mafia, so it was only fair that you played a part in freeing him from it once again. You just also didn’t want to die.

“No one’s telling Yoongi.” Namjoon said, then looked over to you. “I’m sure you understand why.” You did. Yoongi already insisted that a bodyguard accompany you to your classes, there was no telling what he would do if you told him you were planning to walk into Jaebums base, cause a distraction, possibly get shot and hope to walk away with incriminating files. “Jngkook is right. This is completely insane.” You thought to yourself.

“And we probably shouldn’t mention it to Seokjin either.” Namjoon added, and this part came as a surprise to you.

“Why not?” Taehyung seemed as confused as you were, and Namjoon sighed.

“The last thing he wants is for Yoongi to have one more reason to stay away from us.”

“So when are we going to do this?” Hoseok asked.

“It’s going to take some time to get everything in order.” Jimin pointed out, and you were once again struck by how calm Bangtan was. Were they really never phased by anything?

“Wednesday night.” Namjoon decided, and that was that.

You weren’t sure how you were going to keep this from Yoongi, and you weren’t exactly crazy about the idea of keeping secrets from him again–especially not when things seemed to be going so well between you. 


A/N Ahaha, so many people were worried that Reader was going to make a huge mistake! So I thought I’d update a little early. This is actually getting (kind of) close(ish) to the end! I’m kind of sad tbh, but there will be at least another three parts, maybe more (I honestly don’t know for sure). Thank you for reading! Maybe this has put some peoples minds to rest, haha. <3

People are always questioning whether subtle changes in language actually make a difference. Let me tell you: making a conscious effort to remove ableist language from my vocabulary has done wonders for combating my own internalized ableism.

It feels very natural for me, everytime I make a mistake, to call myself dumb or stupid or an idiot. Initially, I didn’t think avoiding these words would do much to change how I feel about myself. My reason for cutting out ableist language was to avoid hurting other people. Full stop.

Now that it’s become a habit for me to stop myself from using that language as a knee jerk reaction, I find myself having to step back and think about what I really mean to express.
For example, when I make a mistake, I make it a point to say something like, “That was short-sighted of me” rather than “I acted exactly like the stupid idiot I am.”

The long-term result of this has been astounding. Thinking of my mistakes as “shortsighted” or “unwise” instead of an inevitable result of my stupidity has helped to distance them from my self image. For the first time, I’m able to recognize that I can do foolish or even unethical things without being an inherently bad person. Likewise, I can be a good person if I hold myself accountable and make an effort to avoid falling into the same pattern in the future.

Maybe this sounds overdramatic to you, but I would seriously recommend that others try to make these kinds of subtle changes in their everyday use of language. At the very least, those changes can help you avoid insulting someone by mistake and can undermine problematic cultural attitudes over time. On top of that, you might start to notice some pretty amazing perspective shifts over time.

Hearing Privilege

So this week in a Deaf studies course, we got to go over the term “hearing privilege”, and what constitutes that. Needless to say, I was very excited to finally discuss this. However, most of the students (hearing) seemed to dismiss it, not realizing how crucial a role this plays in many people’s lives. 

These are NOT my words. I would like to make that abundantly clear. 

Hearing privilege is…

-conversing with friends in public without being stared at. 

-never being asked to justify or defend your existence as a hearing person.

-making mistakes without being considered a representative of the entire hearing population.

-having opportunities over Deaf people, such as: teaching positions, job promotions, presenting at conferences, and committees. 

-teaching ASL or working in jobs requiring ASL fluency without providing evidence of ASL skills. 

-being able to interpret in certain states without certification.

-being able to jump in and out of “the fight”. You don’t need to live it everyday if you don’t want to. 

-means that many Deaf people will make you feel that you are okay, even if they don’t think you are doing the right thing, because they are not comfortable challenging you as a hearing person. 

-means that you are never pitied for who you are. Hearing privilege is not having someone apologize to you when they discover your hearing status. 

-being able to call businesses and agencies without worrying that they will hang up on you. 

-turning on the television and expecting to access anything that’s showing. Being able to go to any movie theatre, anytime and enjoy a show. It is to know that you can enjoy the arts anywhere, anytime. 

-going through the drive-thru to order your food. 

-going to the emergency room and expecting to get service immediately; all nurses and doctors can communicate in your language. In an emergency, all police, firefighters, and EMT personnel speak your language. 

-taking any classes, anywhere - as well as workshops - and expecting to access the information. You can expect that you will be allowed to take the classes. 

-building a strong resume because you have had access to those opportunities.

-being able to change jobs and stay within the same city or state. 

-beiing allowed to opt out of signing if you so choose.

-being able to choose a religion based on your spiritual beliefs instead of which ones provide services in ASL. 

-having the option to serve your country if you so choose.

-means that you are not subject to repeated and painful medical probing (ears, brain, throat). Hearing privilege is never being pressured to have surgery to “repair” something that is very much a part of your identity. 

-being able to make mistakes in written English without people assuming you are not capable of proper English. 

-sitting in any room and feeling comfortable with how it is set up. Cars, trains, planes are all designed to fit your aural and spatial preferences. 

-knowing that when you go to court, you can expect a jury of your peers. It means knowing that you will not be denied the opportunity to serve jury duty because of your hearing status. 

-being able to struggle with a task without someone stepping in to take over, assuming that you cannot do it due to your hearing status. 

-expecting to access speakers anywhere (airports, ballgames, auditoriums, trains, etc.). 

-expecting to find support groups, sports groups where my language is used, even in small towns. 

-representing yourself. Knowing that your exact choice of words are used. You do not have to wait for an interpreter. You do not have to wonder if the interpreter is skilled or qualified. 

-being able to expect to have direct conversations with teachers, with supervisors, with board members anywhere. 

-showing up at your city council, senator’s office, congressperson’s, governor’s, or president’s office anytime and being able to have a direct conversation in your language. 

-not fearing for your life and safety when you see a police officer. 


Now, I understand that some of these are applicable to hearing people (such as the last one, with all the discrimination out there). However, ignorance is never an excuse for abusing your hearing privilege, regardless of whether you realize you are doing it or not. Again, ignorance is never an excuse. If you realize that you abused it, offended someone, etc., do you know what you do? You apologize, and ask for that person to point out if you mess up so that you can learn from your mistakes.

Hey! I'm a cisgendered straight woman who wants to tell the stories of LGBTQ+ people through my writing (anything from fluffy love stories to serious representations of discrimination). I'm worried that me writing this would be offensive to people in the LGBTQ+ community, and the last thing I would want to do is to overstep my boundaries. You're an author that I really respect and whose writing I really love, so I value your opinion on this: is it ok for someone like myself to write this? <3

Hi! Its interesting, we were just talking about this yesterday! I received some great input from a number of different writers on tumblr :) I’m going to do this in bullet points as a I try to get my thoughts in order.

I think it’s absolutely okay for you to write about LGBT+ characters, but you have to handle them well.

  1. Research, research, research. Read books by LGBTQIA+ authors ( check out @lgbtqreads) and go find people who don’t mind talking about their experiences.
  2. Understand that you’re going to make mistakes. Be okay with that, be open to listening, and be open to accepting criticism. And then use the comments to be better.
  3. Understand that not everyone will agree it’s okay. Not everyone is going to look at you and think it’s okay for you to be writing LGBT characters. There are voices in the community and it’s true that as a cisgendered, straight woman you’re more likely to be heard than they are. You can understand that and still write, but I feel it’s important to acknowledge that you do have privilege here.
  4. Avoid the hell out of tropes. Lesbian couple finally gets together and then one of them dies for Tragedy™. Gay couple somehow miraculously fits into heterosexual gender roles (one has more stereotypical feminine interests while the other has more stereotypical masculine interests.).  I’m not saying that these things don’t happen, but they’re often used to make gayness #acceptable in media.

But you know what? These are just the rules that I have for myself in my own writing. I have a very narrow field of vision because of my own identity. So here’s a bunch of sources you should definitely check out about this issue!
