I love Queen because half of their songs are mind-blowing pieces about life and death and love and humanity’s inability to live together without destroying ourselves, and the other half are like “I love my bike”
I went back to work today because I’m feeling better. The morning was fine, but by 1:30 I was dragging and my nose kept running and I was just done. I left and picked up my library holds on my way home–they gave me that awesome sticker! The pile on the left are all recent acquisitions for the to-read shelf. I know. I have a problem. Oh, and I was super excited that my Book of the Month selection for March was one I was really wanting to read! It was $6 cheaper than Amazon with BOTM! :)
This absolutely spectacular weather gave me a second wind! And, even though I heard my husband in my head telling me, “You take longer to get better because you’re always overdoing it!” I still just HAD to get on my bike when I got home! I only rode (mostly) smooth trails and only stayed out for an hour…I feel justified because I DIDN’T go to boot camp today. I just came home and took Walter for a walk afterward instead. It’s just too beautiful not to be outside! I swear my bike was calling me! Bonus: Look at this pretty flower I saw on my walk! :) I LOVE spring! Fabulous weather just makes me so happy–it’s an instant mood boost!
I always run into this super nice woman when I ride my bike in the afternoons. She’s often out hiking around the same time, and she always comments how refreshing it is when she comes across me because she doesn’t feel scared that I’m going to run her down–I always slow down and give her plenty of time to get out of the way. She’s older…although that doesn’t really matter, I know that when I’m hiking I also hate it when cyclists come flying by and don’t slow down AT ALL and just expect people to dive out of the way. The trails are narrow, and it’s an off-leash park–you’ve gotta give people a second! Today, she actually came across me when I’d stopped to get a drink at the start of a new trail. We had a lovely chat about the bluebonnets that are starting to show up. I have such a thing about “regular” people/places/etc. so I love that she felt comfortable enough to stop for a moment to chat! If only I hadn’t been my typical dingbat self and actually asked her name. Next time. Either way, it brightened my day! :)
