I have so much admiration for her

RIGHT HERE TONIGHT || RYAN & BECCA

Rebecca laughed softly as she glanced at the person across the table, her drink up to her lips and nearly finished. The bar was busy in a nice way and in the background she could hear the less than docile tones of someone attempting to sing. It wasn’t that they were bad but they were definitely trying a little too hard. She had to admire the effort though. She’d definitely never have the balls. “So…” She began, deeply engaged in a less than tipsy conversation with the male who’d approached her and brought her a drink earlier. “I’m a mechanic. I spend most of my time with my own company…” She began, trying not to freak them out too much with her boring as fuck life. In fact she was so determined not to embarrass herself with her self-image that she didn’t hear the person cease singing. And she didn’t hear the person approaching her either. She didn’t even know they were there until a hand clasped around her shoulder and gripped.

“And we have our next fabulous victim for tonight’s karaoke!” The voice chorused through a microphone and suddenly Rebecca felt her hands go clammy. Why the fuck did they even have karaoke here?! Since when?!

“No, no. You’ve definitely got the wrong…okay, no…” But she was already practically being tugged up and egged toward the stage. “I don’t…please don’t…” She couldn’t even get words out as a microphone was forced in to her hand. “Shit.”

Who Was Clare Boothe Luce?

Christina Hoffs Sommer on Clare Boothe Luce & Feminism

Favorite Quotes:

“I refuse the compliment that I think like a man, thought has no sex, one either thinks, or one does not.”

“Courage is the ladder on which all other virtues mount.”

I first learned about Clare Boothe Luce the same time I stumbled upon the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute. Over time I have come to admire and respect this woman who not only became extremely successful in her own right, but became a champion for conservative women out there who reject the ideals of radical, left-wing feminism. She accomplished so much in her life and wasn’t afraid to tell it like it is.

Your opinion on Stephen Universe.

One of my favorite Cartoon Network shows. It’s actually pretty tough to talk about this one since I haven’t reflected on it too much, so I haven’t determined many specific things I like about it. However, I love how Rebecca Sugar decided on having synchronized dancing be the way for gems to fuse, the overarching plot(with Gem Homeworld) is actually really interesting, and I can agree with most people on the internet that Steven is easily one of the best written child characters in recent years.

My favorite Crystal Gem is…probably Garnet(this was hard since I love them all), as I can admire her leadership and seems to be in good control of her emotions minus that one instance in the most recent episodes(though that episode was great).

My favorite antagonist is a tie between Peridot and Lapis. Peridot can be hilarious, and I seriously think that if Lapis gets rescued, she’ll be an ally to the Crystal Gems. It could easily be one of the better “villain/antagonist to hero” transformations if they decide to do it.

My favorite Beach City resident is either Lars, or Ronaldo.

I especially love how a fusion basically results in an entirely new persona(Ex. Sardonyx is basically a completely different character from Garnet and Pearl, and Garnet is very different from Ruby and Sapphire, though Garnet clearly shares the characteristics of both). I also think it has a good theme of identity, especially regarding Steven, and the mentioned fusions.

tevenesunshine.

[Caption: A big shoutout to tevenesunshine ! It’s so uplifting and joyous to see such a mirthful and bright character around, and this OC absolutely lives up to the url! She is a ray of light and friendliness, and I admire that they’ve taken a concept and crafted a character that they care so much about. Don’t ever be afraid of posting your OC rambles, because the passion you have for writing her is absolutely great.]

Minah on Star Gazing

During Girl’s Day’s debut year, Minah did everything she was asked by MCs to keep Girl’s Day from getting cut out of variety shows. She was known and still even is known as an annoying try-hard, putting her pride aside in order to gain interest in Girl’s Day. You don’t have to love her aegyo or her voice, but please respect that Minah has worked incredibly hard for herself and for her members. She is truly a gem in the kpop industry.

Fairytales & Pixie Dust

There’s a young photographer I know though a friend that has been working for the past year or so as an advocate of finding true beauty in others, and by extension, putting an end to bullying.

This is some of her early work.

Her earlier works consisted of pictures of girls who volunteered to paint themselves with words they’d been called–ratchet, fat, emotional, any number of slurs against them–and wearing them in defiance of the abuse, and proving that it doesn’t define them. Pictured above, they’re supporting one another, holding up signs that say, “You are worth more!” and “Never give up!”

The photographer, Shay, had also been a victim bullying, and had a past with personal struggles that seem to have given her a sense of empathy and strength in overcoming adversity that is truly admirable. Even more so, she’s sharing this with each of her photo shoots as she continues as a young photographer, going by the name Fairytales & Pixie Dust. She affectionately calls the many ladies who she photographs “princesses.” c:

I find Shay’s work truly inspiring, and I really hope she continues with this. Find her Facebook page here.

Really, she’s such a delight, and I hope you guys enjoy her work as much as I do. <3

MARY J...I AM DEAD

OMG. Are you kidding me? MARY J FREAKING BLIGE?!?!?! No, you didn’t, Taylor Alison Swift!!!! NO, YOU DIDNT. BUT YOU DID!! Do you know how much I love Mary J? She’s da bomb. Not only have I always been crazy for her music, I am just as crazy proud of her, the person. This lady has picked herself up from the worst trials of life time and time again and triumphed. Hers is a true started from the bottom now we’re here life story. I’ve always admired her so much. Well done, Swift. 😉 She was a beautiful pick for a special guest. I am in awe. 👏🏼👏🏼

Girlfriend Comparisons...

prayerstoyeezus asked:

“So my girlfriend is awesome, but I keep comparing myself to her in every way. She’s funnier than me, she’s more outgoing than me, she has so much drive, and I feel like a blob in comparison. How do I cut out this way of thinking?”

Dannielle Says:

I think this is dope because you have the chance to be inspired by someone who you love so deeply. You have a person that you admire right in front of you all the time. Learn from her, ask for her help, tell her how impressed you are, and be so grateful that you have someone who can help you become the best version of yourself.

I feel pretty strongly that we should all constantly be working on becoming the best person we can possibly be, it’s like… Who knows why the fuck we’re here, I certainly don’t, but I do know if we all work to leave the world a little better than how we found it, this would such a cool place to live.

I don’t think a relationship can be all that great if you aren’t inspired by the person you’re dating. If you don’t admire that person, if that person doesn’t challenge you to be better, if that person isn’t one of the coolest, most amazing people you’ve ever met, then what are you even doing?

This is all to say you are lucky and yea it’s hard, but totally possible. The things you told us are just v intense compliments. It’s so easy to be like, “YOU ARE SO MOTIVATED, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, YOUR DRIVE IS SO HOT AND I WANT TO KISS YOU” and then later to be like, “also, how do you do it? can you help me try to organize some shit, I want to have that kind of drive.” The person who loves you loves to see you succeed and wants to help you succeed and wants for you to feel so good about everything you’re doing.

It’s also cool to be like, “hey, you’ve been working yourself so hard, we should take a chill night,” or “you’ve been making everyone at this party laugh for 3 hours, and I thought it was so hot the whole time and now let’s take you home and give you some well-deserved intercourse.” Sometimes that balance is so unbelievably necessary and it can be so fun and wonderful. It’s all about perspective, balance, honesty, and everyone feeling cool as fuck.

2 weeks ago I was telling Hannah “if Taylor sings Fifteen for you at your show…you HAVE to record your reaction it would be priceless” and it happened and I’m so so so happy for her. Hannah my love, you’re the most admirable person I’ve ever met and you deserved this so much. I love you girl. You deserve all of the happiness in your life. redheadswift

Woah, woah, woah. So, when I logged onto Tumblr I had 30+ messages all talking about the “Do Not Sing’ List post, and I’m very sorry that I gave no recognition to Christine i-remember-there-was-mist. If I’m being completely honest, I could’ve sworn I tagged her in the post, but when I went and looked back at it, it was another post (the “what shows should an MT lover know” ask) that I tagged her in. I didn’t mean to copy her work - I added my own songs on there as well, if you actually went and looked through it. It was meant to be seen as admiration, as I look up to Christine very much and regularly look at her blog - I even have links on my blog to her blog, so why would I copy this post and not the others? I’m truly sorry that it was seen as copying her work, as I would NEVER mean to do that to somebody that worked so hard on something. I’m going to go back and edit it right now so that Christine’s name is at the top of the post. I feel awful about this whole thing, and the only reason I don’t want to delete the post is because I feel like it’s helping other people. I should have just linked Christine’s post in the first place and I know that now. I’m truly, truly sorry to everybody this has affected, especially Christine. If people really think that I should delete the post, that’s fine, but most of my messages are telling me to simply recognize that what I did was wrong, and that’s exactly what I’m doing. So thank you for reading this post, and again, I’m truly sorry to Christine and to others who this had affected.

Ok but Camila Cabello has been staning for Taylor since day 1. Camila loves Taylor so much. I know to Taylor, learning the choreography to Worth It was whatever like it wasn’t that big of a thing for her but to Camila and the other girls too I’m sure, it probably meant the world. To have someone you’ve looked up to and admired for so long go as far as wearing a matching outfit and learning the choreography to your song was probably a big deal to little Karla.

Arya is so much braver than I thought on my first read... If I was a tiny 10 year old girl, who was really skinny, underfed, and short for my age, and I was somehow captured by an almost 7ft tall man who had killed my friend? I would have been terrified, but Arya is somehow able to stand her ground against him. She is so brave and good that she actually earns his respect! That little child is braver than most grown knights

There is such a lot to admire about Arya. She is brave. She has courage in horrific circumstances. Her bravery hit me from the first but the other thing I admire about her character is how adaptable she is. It is something I see get missed a lot when people discuss Arya. There is a lot of focus on the “wolf blood” and it is certainly there, she is bold and has her wild side but she learns to repress that. She learns to hold her tongue.

It saddens me that she went through that abuse which forced her to grow up so fast. I am reading AGOT Arya right now with her strong sense of justice and how the journey to Kings Landing and the death of Mycah began shattering her world view. This bit in particular:

…that was Winterfell, a world away, and now everything was changed. This was the first time they had supped with the men since arriving in King’s Landing. Arya hated it. She hated the sounds of their voices now, the way they laughed, the stories they told. They’d been her friends, she’d felt safe around them, but now she knew that was a lie. They’d let the queen kill Lady, that was horrible enough, but then the Hound found Mycah. Jeyne Poole had told Arya that he’d cut him up in so many pieces that they’d given him back to the butcher in a bag, and at first the poor man had thought it was a pig they’d slaughtered. And no one had raised a voice or drawn a blade or anything, not Harwin who always talked so bold, or Alyn who was going to be a knight, or Jory who was captain of the guard. Not even her father.

Ugh. It breaks my heart. It is the beginning of her realising that justice is not always done. Arya is good and she is brave and yes, far better than most knights not just in terms of bravery when we consider what ASOIAF reveals about what knights are believed to be and what they actually are.

thekingoflosthope

That was an admirable attempt at hanging Vinculus, though next time I would suggest you wait around before prancin’ off to make sure it did the proper job of it, as I would have liked to meet the daft beastie that’s been causing so much trouble.

Lady Pole sends her regards, and by that I mean she wishes to remind you that you are still an “uncivilised, unsightly bore”. I suspect that “naff tosser” would have been just as well.

your opinion on elise bauman

Oh god, where do I even start tbh. I think that she is literally sunshine in human form. While, of course, I don’t know her personally and have never met her, I love the way she presents herself and I have so much respect for her and the decisions she makes as an actor. I completely commend her choice not to share certain things with the public and I find that the way she stays true to who she is is something to be admired and respected. Her personality is contagious, her laugh is infectious and I’m so glad she’s such a huge part of Carmilla and is on the rise of her journey as an actor. She’s ridiculously talented and as a fan, I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things she’s going to accomplish in the future. Simply put, she’s amazing and I can’t believe she actually exists.

[The Flavour Of Our Feelings]

Series: Fairy Tail.
Pairing: Laxana.
Spoilers: CH. 448.

This is for lightningcards, whose love of Laxana makes me smile. You put up with a lot of shit from spiteful people and never let it stop you doing what you love. I have much admiration for you.

“So,” Cana turned to face Laxus, who sat beside her at the bar, “You entertained during our year apart?”

Laxus scowled at the collection of bottles on the back shelf, recalling memories Cana could only hope to learn more about. Mira, with the help of Freed and Bickslow, had taken to organising their newly purchased glasses in the store room, leaving Cana to fend off Laxus’ chiding. Bottles of liquor stood at the end of the bar, whispering sweet nothings to an already drunken Cana. Laxus could complain until daybreak, that wouldn’t stop her from indulging. They had so much to celebrate, after all.

“How about we don’t talk about that?” he huffed.

Come on,” she smacked a hand on the bar, “You have to serve me a drink. Just one. Please.”

Laxus didn’t appear ready for an argument. Rather, his face remained totally placid. Climbing off his stool, Laxus circled the bar and pulled a collection of bottles from the back shelf. Tossing them back and forth, he poured a mixture into a tall, narrow glass. Cana watched as the colours mingled together. When he slid the glass towards her, she noticed the colour of the mixture had lightened significantly. It was a vibrant shade of red, the kind of red that burned with a passion and raged with a purpose.

“So this is the flavour of your feelings,” she commented. “I wonder what they’ll taste like.”

Cana tipped her head back and indulged in the swirl of flavours. Each came together in a sweet, bubbly texture. The concoction seemed to warm her insides. It tingled on her taste-buds, like jolts of electricity. When she’d emptied the glass, Cana dropped it back onto the bar. Laxus leaned his elbows on the surface and fixed his eyes on hers. Cana hiccuped.

“How was it?” he asked.

“Wonderful,” she breathed. “Intoxicating. What is that?”

“A mixture of sodas,” he smirked.

“Laxus!” Cana threw her arms up in distress. “You tricked me!”

“You asked me to make you a drink,” he corrected, “And I did.”

Grabbing a fistful of his shirt, Cana pressed her forehead to his. His eyes seemed to press down on her soul. She pulled back with a sigh and flicked one leg over the other. Glancing away, Cana watched over her guild mates with a fond smile.

“I missed you, Laxus,” she said, without looking in his general direction. “It’s good to be home.”

She felt his fingers pull at a strand of her hair. “It’s good to be back.”

can’t visit san francisco without saying hi to @pacolli, who is one of my favorite artists and insanely talented.

her work is fun and weird and you can see her brazilian street art party life background and also so much heart. she’s been ripped off many times in the ten years she’s been actively making work, but there’s something special about her lines and the way she approaches things, hand drawing tiny stickers for shop orders and truly living in the world she’s made.

if you don’t follow her, follow her. buy her one of kind ceramics and get her small batch zines. she is fucking brilliant and I have admired her for so many and it blows my mind that I’ve been able to become her friend.

okay, for some reason, I’m thinking a lot about gs!Soo-won so have some fun headcanons

  • Yona definitely has a crush on her, because gs!Soo-won is so pretty!! and kind!! and strong!! lbr we would all have a crush on that. It starts off pretty innocently for Yona, for when she was a child, she just REALLY admired Soo-won and wanted to be just like her, but fastforward a few years to when Hak’s making fun of Yona for how much she looks up to Soo-won & says “why don’t you marry her?” and Yona’s IMMEDIATE response is “I would marry her in a heartbeat” and that’s Hak’s kind introduction to the concept of bisexuality.
  • Lady Soo-won is honestly so dazzling. A lot of people compare her to her mother as a result (which makes her a lil sad because she misses her mom). BUT THEN they see her fight and they’re like “wait shit she’s definitely more like her dad” because she’s kinda ruthless on the battlefield - which is moreso a result of her sex, since she can’t rely on her upper body strength to deflect blades, so she swordfights more like it’s a tactical dance, pretending she’s not very good at fighting back in order to make her opponent underestimate her just before she goes in for the kill.
  • Geun-tae loves to joke that the entire reason Joo-doh is still single is because he’s secretly pining for Queen Soo-won, which causes Joo-doh to go on a screaming, blushing rampage (his most common phrase being “I’VE KNOWN HER SINCE SHE WAS A CHILD!!!!!!”). Soo-won’s no help ofc, because every time Geun-tae makes the joke, she’ll tell Joo-doh that she has no interest in men who yell at her, which makes Joo-doh actually yell at her, and she gets all cute and pouty and that usually shuts Joo-doh up.
  • Her father was very intent on having her marry Hak when they were both of age, because Hak was to be the Wind Tribe general AND had close ties to the royal family, so having Soo-won marry Hak would have political benefits as well as keep her with her friends. But Soo-won and Hak were VERY intent on riding into the platonic friendship sunset together, regardless of how many arranged marriage meetings Soo-won’s father & Mun-deok tried to put them through.
