To all of you idiots who think what’s happening in Baltimore is a good thing, would you really say that if you were living there?
Would you say that if it was your car/house on fire? Would you believe that if you were attacked on the street? Would you honestly think this is right if you weren’t sitting in the safety of your home, in front of your computer, miles and miles away from what’s happening?
Because the deceased’s family never wanted this. They wanted peaceful protests, not looting and attacking and arson. I don’t care what the damn reason is, beatings, arson, and thefts are terrible no matter who’s doing it. If you really think this is something you can fucking justify, especially since you’re nowhere near it, then I’m ashamed of you.
You can say the media is lying all you want, but I’ve seen accounts from people who live there and I can tell you that the riots are real, and people are in danger. Protests are fine, but riots and attacks aren’t.
We do not know our own souls, let alone the souls of others. Human beings do not go hand in hand the whole stretch of the way. There is a virgin forest in each; a snowfield where even the print of birds’ feet is unknown. Here we go alone, and like it better so. Always to have sympathy, always to be accompanied, always to be understood would be unbearable.
