For SNS summer week: post 699 canon divergence

I don’t know, I just really like the idea of the boys in the anbu (under the hokage). So before Sasuke feels comfortable back in Konoha, whenever he finds himself alone and cornered, Naruto always swoops in! (He just knows, man, he just knows!) And every time, Sasuke berates him for it (as does Tsunade, hehe).

Then I like to imagine Sasuke misses Naruto too much and takes long visits in Konoha (after Naruto reforms it a bit). He usually doesn’t wear the anbu garb but he will sometimes. Basically, Sasuke is the Hokage’s main security like when they go to Kage gatherings and every Kage has two body guards, but Naruto only needs one (Sasuke wouldn’t trust a second anyways :P). And he likes to act super possessive of Naruto *u*.

Naruto: Erm… why is everyone being so awkward…?

Sasuke: …

Naruto: Sasuke… have you been scaring our allies? And our potential friends?!

Sasuke: What?… I’m not doing anything.

On Altea we wear this colour to honour our fallen warriors.

As much as I want Hiveswap to be released ASAP, i also don’t want the development team to feel pressured and then rushing things out. All i can do is wishing them all my best wishes.

The graphics are great!! They’re working really hard for this. So Hiveswap, whenever you’re ready, I’m here…

OMG i’m sorry that it’s not as nice as the last one i did anon, my tablet gave me the middle finger last night and decided it wasn’t going to work anymore so i had to do this the old fashioned way!

I'm trying to get into a mode of constant practice with art to hopefully improve my artistic skill eventually. Do you have any tips on how to do continuous practice like Idk drawing the same thing over and over again? What works in your opinion?

The best way for me personally, to practice and improve on something is through doing studies, which I think is different to just ‘practicing for the sake of practicing.’ What you need to do in studies is to actually try to understand why, how, what etc, and to apply it in drawing, rather than just drawing repeatedly.

Sure, you can draw hundreds and thousands of hands over and over, and I’m sure that you’ll definitely improve eventually. But if you actually take the time to understand and learn the anatomy behind it, about the proportions, about the shapes, about the way it can move and the angles it can produce etc, you can learn much faster and also have a better understanding of it.

The same applies for colour theory, lighting, paint mixing, whatever it is! You can draw the same reference over and over again, but you won’t actually learn much if you don’t take the time to understand WHY different lighting changes the mood of things or HOW to mix a certain colour.

Take the time to try to understand it, even read up on it and learn the theory. If you do this and actually study whatever it is you’re trying to learn, coupled with drawing and practicing continuously to apply your knowledge, you’ll be well on your way to improving!

Imagine getting together with Chris.

A/N: Part 5 is here and I think I just died. OH MY GOD! As the writer, and as a reader- AHHHHHHHH! I’m sorry, I’m so calm right now. (No I am not, my heart) You can read the previous parts here: (Unexpected Reader - Part 1/Part 2/Part 3A/3B/Part 4A/4B) Please enjoy! X

Chris laid sprawled on his couch with furrowed brows, tapping his TV remote against his bare chest. It was 1:48AM and he had an early morning meeting tomorrow, but he was still wide awake. He couldn’t sleep because he had too much on his mind, like the fact that you were yet to read the letter he’d left- admitting his love for you- at your apartment. Since he left said letter at said apartment, with each hour that ticked by- he’d been texting your best friend asking if you’d read it. Each time, he’d get a text back from Ava telling him the same thing: “she’s not home yet.” It finally got to the ninth hour at 11:00PM that he stopped texting Ava and texted you instead, not to ask about the letter but to see if you were okay. Which brought forth the other thing that was keeping him up.

Chris had texted you to ask if you were okay, and you’d sent back a simple “perfect.” Now what was that suppose to mean? Were you perfect because your date with Sam went well? Were you perfect because you’d read his letter and was thinking about your answer? No, you couldn’t have read the letter already. You wouldn’t have just texted if you’d read it. He knew you and he knew you would’ve called if you’d read it, unless- you didn’t feel the same way, or had changed your mind about him since hearing about Scarlett and going on that date with Sam. He should’ve addressed that rumor the second it came out, talked to you about it instead of calling Scarlett and laughing about it. If he lost you because of it, it was his fault and his fault alone.

“What am I going to do, bud?” Chris asked Dodger, his best friend who was half asleep by his feet. “What am I going to do if I lose her?” Dodger looked up when Chris sat up and reached down to smooth his hand over his pup’s head. “She’s the one and I was too afraid to tell her that when I had the chance, and now-” He cut himself off with a huff, scratching Dodger’s head ever so gently. “I’m a real fucking idiot, aren’t I?”

“I’d say.”

Chris was so distracted that he didn’t even hear you come in from the back door; you’d a set of keys because he trusted you and occasionally needed you to come take care of Dodger for him. He jumped to his feet, feeling his heart in his throat. You were crying, but it was out of pure and utter joy as well as love for the man standing in front of you. His lips parted and he tried to speak, but no sound came forth. He’d play a thousand different scenarios in his head and ways to respond, but now that it was actually happening- he’d no clue what to say. He stepped over Dodger and started towards you, stopping when you took a step back. You held up the letter that you’d read four times in the cab ride over with the help of your iPhone’s torch. Each time you’d read it- you fell even harder for Chris; words you wanted to use to form a response danced in your mind. But now, as you stood in front of him, you couldn’t speak either. God, the two of you were made for each other.

“Y/N, I’m not dating Scarlett,” Chris finally spoke. Upon hearing those words leave his mouth, he wanted to slap himself. As important as that piece of information was, he wished his first words to you were “I love you.” Which was what he said next, drawing more happy tears from your eyes. “Please don’t cry,” he pleaded as he started towards you again, stopping when you held up a hand.

“I’m sorry, I just- I need a moment,” you told him and he nodded understandingly. “I um- This was-” you held up the letter, smiling. “It was a very Fan fic Chris thing to do,” you said and you both managed a light laugh. “How did you learn to write like that? Those first two paragraphs-”

“Y/N,” he cut you off, chuckling. “I don’t think we need to talk about my writing capabilities right this very second, do you?” He quizzed and you shook your head, swallowing. “You came here to tell me something,” he began as he slowly inched closer to you; step by step. “You came here to answer a question, to confess your true feelings.” You nodded slowly, feeling your heart on the verge of exploding. “So how about,” he grabbed you by the waist and pulled you towards him, “we get to that?”

“You’re not wearing a shirt,” you blurted out and grimaced at how awkward you were. Chris laughed, because how awkward you were was one of the things he loved about you. “I um…” You couldn’t believe how difficult it was to talk around a shirtless Chris; how his female co-stars managed was beyond you. His hands rubbing small, gentle circles into your sides weren’t helping your ability to speak coherently either. “Can you-” you put a hand on his chest to push him back; his heat radiated through your palm. “I just need some space so I can think.”

“I think we’ve done enough thinking, don’t you?” He returned to his original position, but this time a little closer and his grip a little tighter. “I’m done thinking and so are you,” he whispered as he dipped his head. With his lips inches from yours, his minty breath warm against your cheeks. “Do you love me?” He asked gently and you felt yourself nod as you got lost in his eyes; he smiled so wide, his pearly whites blinded you. “Do you want to kiss me?” He asked and got another breathless nod from you. “Good, because I love you and I want to kiss you too.”

The second his lips touched yours, everything fell into place. You realized that saying was a cliché you’d used many times before, in a quite a few of your stories, but not once had you truly understood or felt what you wrote. Not until now, not until you had Chris’ soft and supple lips pressed against yours. It was insane how good and how right it felt, and how many more clichés played through your mind. “He kissed you like your lips were the air that he needed to breathe”, and “he kissed you like there was no tomorrow”, and “his lips touched yours and sparks flew.” In that very moment, as his hands gently caressed your face while his lips worked against yours tenderly, attentively, and passionately- you lived through every romantic, breathtaking kiss scene you’d ever written. It felt like pure and utter magic- and yes, you realized that was yet another cliché but God, you didn’t care. You were happy because you were kissing the one you could, and had pictured forever with.

“Fuck,” Chris breathed when he broke the kiss, resting his forehead against yours. “Sorry,” he chuckled breathlessly and you shook your head, smiling. You could feel how flaming hot your cheeks were, as well as how wide your smile was; it was wider than it’d ever been. “I don’t mean to swear in your face, I just- that was fucking amazing. I mean- Fuck,” he cussed again, laughing. “You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to do that.”

“Why don’t you do it again?” Your arms wrapped around his neck as you inched closer to his lips.

You didn’t have to ask him twice; he chuckled and kissed you again, moaning ever so softly when your hands found their way into his un-gelled hair. Now you weren’t a girl he wanted to rush things with because he respected you, but he was so swept up- in the passion, and the romance, and the very obvious lust in the air- that he couldn’t help himself. His hands reached under your thighs and he swiftly lifted you up, wrapping your legs around his waist. You knew what was happening and what would happen if you let it, and though you always promised your mom you wouldn’t rush into things- this was Chris and she’d always wished you’d end up with him after reading your series. Now that the opportunity had arise, surely she wouldn’t blame you for taking things a little faster than usual. It wasn’t like he was going to run out on you, the letter made it pretty damn clear he was here to stay.

He broke the kiss and smiled, carrying you as he started towards the stairs. He didn’t know who to thank for you, just every thread in the universe that brought the two of you together. You did the same thing, brushing his bearded cheek with your thumb.

“Does Ava know you’re not going to be there when she wakes up?” That question was his subtle was of asking for consent; he wouldn’t and couldn’t do anything you were uncomfortable with. He knew the hold he had on you, but he’d never use it to his advantage. Similarly, you knew the hold you had on him and you’d never use that to your advantage either.

“I think Ava will figure it out.”

“Yeah,” Chris bit back his growing smile, “I think she will too.”

“What are you doing?” Astrid asked as she walked into the room, tossing her axe easily onto the table as she made her way over to Hiccup’s desk.

He coughed and shuffled his different papers and parchments together, trying to hide his work. “Nothin’ much… uh, designing Inferno and-”

Astrid rolled her eyes and snatched the papers from his hands, ignoring his yelps and protests. She quickly shuffled through them, pausing when she came across some finely detailed sketches of Toothless and Stormfly.

“Oh, these are beautiful, Hiccup…” She murmured, reaching a hand out to push him back into his seat when he tried to make a move to steal the papers back. She flipped another paper, gasping at the sight of Stormfly in flight, wings spread and mouth slightly parted. There was even some color to this one, watered down blue splatted along with some yellows. It was absolutely gorgeous.

“You did these?” She said in awe, looking up at the boy’s face. Hiccup bit his lip and nodded hesitantly, reaching out again for the papers. “They’re wonderful, babe.”

“Heh, thanks.” He replied quietly, tilting his head to one side. “Th-they’re nothing… truly. Just… stuff I do when I’m- uh, thinking.”

He laughed awkwardly before getting to his feet, hand rubbing the back of his neck in embarrassment, “Er, yeah. You’re… sorta on my mind a lot and I figured drawing- Stormfly- was… a good way to…” He gestured wildly, mouth opening yet no words came out as he tried to find the words.

She flipped another page, doing a double take at the sight of her own self, standing with her axe resting on her shoulder, a confident smile on her lips and eyebrows quirked. Astrid frowned playfully and looked up at the now-blushing Hiccup, the poor guy flustered beyond words.

“What’s this?”

“Er… what’s what?”

She dangled the picture in his face, smiling behind it in her attempts to not laugh, “This, you dork. You draw me too?”

He laughed again, blush spreading to the tips of his ears as he grabbed the paper, gathering the rest from her arms and scuttling over to a chest in which he deposited them. “A-ah… not… erm… normally no- not that- gods I’m making this way harder…” He facepalmed and fell silent, before peeping out between his fingers. “Yes, Astrid, I draw you.” he shifted awkwardly, “a lot…” He added in a mumble

She laughed and stepped forward, giving him a side hug and ruffling his already messy hair. “I think it’s sweet.” She reassured him, hoping to ease his embarrassment. He smiled and tilted his head- almost dragon-like- before pecking his lips against hers.

“You… um, you want to draw with me?” He invited, gesturing towards his desk of scattered papers.

She laughed and shook her head, crossing her arms firmly. “You know very well I can’t draw.”

Hiccup snorted and grabbed her hand, pulling her to his desk before giving her a little push onto the stool. She grunted, but couldn’t help the grin that spread across her lips.

“Here.” he tossed her a pencil, turning to pull up another chair from the table. He sat down across beside her, shifting the papers about until he found some blanks.

“I can’t even do a circle.” She laughed quietly, demonstrating what she meant. Hiccup chuckled lowly, his arms circling her from behind as he rested his hand over hers, directing the pencil slowly over the parchment.

“Here- to do a circle, hold the pencil straight down… yeah, like that. Now touching you hand to the paper and use that as the center of your circle. Now turn the paper… like so…” He slowly spun the paper around, until a complete and perfect circle remained. She blinked in awe, having never known there to be such a trick for drawing.

“Wow…” She murmured, trying the same technique on a slightly smaller oval. “That’s so cool…” She repeated the movement, until her entire page was covered in millions of multi-sized circles.

Hiccup laughed and picked up his own pencil again, sliding back into his chair. He quickly drew a circle, then began filling it in around the edges on one side, his pressure getting lighter until you could hardly see the pencil marks at all. “That’s line shading, no blending or anything, just letting your pencil lift higher and higher off the page so it blends out on it’s own, leaving a sketchy look.”

Astrid watched him closely, nodding once she thought she had a good hang of the concept. She turned and did the same thing to one of her own circles, and while it wasn’t nearly as good or clean slated as Hiccup’s, it was definitely an improvement from her own shading skills.

“Where did you learn all of this?” She asked in bewilderment and awe. She’d never seen such ways of art… although she wasn’t exactly one that got into that type of stuff. She’d always supposed you needed raw raw talent in order to complete anything. That didn’t seem to be the case- or with a circle at least.

“I picked it up- mostly on my own. You try new things the more you do it.” Hiccup twerked an eyebrow, giving her a half smile. “You want to learn how to draw Stormfly?”

She nodded eagerly, allowing him to take up his position again from behind, his warm arms trapping her in a hug as his chin rested on top of her head. She laughed quietly, jabbing his rib with her elbow in teasing.

He grunted, but she could feel his jaw move in a smile on atop her head. His hands moved hers, and before long he was showing her the general shapes of her lovely blue dragon. A large circle for the head, another two circles for the body and legs. Join the head to the body, create the talents using sharp strokes…

She payed as deep attention as possible, yet it was difficult with Hiccup’s chest pressed against her back. She was constantly flipping her eyes back away from his hand to the drawing before her, concentration wavering.

The drawing was sketchy, but somehow perfect. She had no doubt her’s would look nowhere near as… accurate, but she was determined to give it a try. So once Hiccup stepped away for the second time, she plucked up a new piece of paper and got to work.

“Too big-” Hiccup interupted when she began to lightly sketch Stormfly’s head. “Just a bit… smaller… there, that should work.”

She nodded and bit her lip, continuing the sketches outline while taking a few glances towards Hiccup’s for reference.

She let her hand slip down the legs, trying to get the muscle tones right but failing utterly. After five minutes of continued frustration, she tossed her pencil at the wall and glared at the paper, picking it up and crumpling it into her fist.

“Astrid-!” Hiccup exclaimed, eyes following the paper ball as it flew across the room. “What was that? It was looking great-!”

“Don’t lie.” She herumphed. “The legs were too thin and weren’t placed right.” She leaned back in her chair, arms crossed as she tried to figure out a solution for this dilemma. “Drawing’s hard.” She muttered darrkly.

“It takes practice…” Hiccup reminded her gently, twisting in his chair to face her. His green eyes were bright with amusement, and his lips twitched, hinting a hidden smile. She sighed and looked down, her own smile creeping back.

“How about we do something else?”

She looked back at him, “No, Hiccup, I think I’ve had enough with that pencil for today.”

“Nah… come on.” he poked a finger at her side, teasingly. “We’ll find something easier to you. How about an axe?”

She huffed, “Very funny.”

“Not helping, Hiccup.” She snorted on her laughter, not being able to contain her mirth. “How about you draw the dragon, and I’ll try and color it.”

So! I’m back again with another piece.

I was in an art block, and I was scrolling around in @noinaedamiiz’s blog when I finally got the urge and ability to draw! This time it’s of Underswap!Frisk and Underswap!Chara. I really liked drawing this, and I think I’m getting the hang of US!Frisk’s hair. It was also my first attempt at drawing US!Chara seriously. Hope I did her justice.

Us!Frisk needs to learn how to convey his feelings more!

Are you alright? Lately it's seems like you're under a lot of pressure and stress, and I just hope there's some good in your life and that you're okay and taking care of yourself

It’s been pretty rough, that’s true. Right now I am leading a really unhealthy, stressful life. I don’t sleep enough, I don’t eat enough (I don’t even have real comfort food anymore. And that’s super shitty) and I don’t relax enough. But I think it’s getting better now. I try to take some time just for myself and do stuff I really enjoy. Without pressure and stress. It’s hard, because for some reason I end up stressing about everything, but then I remind myself that I don’t have to be stressed when I’m playing video games and that it’s okay if some things don’t work out for the first few times.

I need to learn how to enjoy things like drawing again. I see myself only drawing for the sake of others lately and it frustrates me. I just hope after this semester it gets better. After that I can choose my major and then I go to illustration and I can finally do what I want. Bye bye product design!

m and t family for the first feeding training please?

I’m not sure if the babies from the Mukami will be humans or vampires because the Mukami were once humans, but I guess genetics are like whatever in this case.

“Don’t be frightened, you need to learn how to feed. It’s for the best.”

Ruki would be a great teacher for his daughter and tell her everything that he knows about drawing blood. He encourages her when she’s feeling reluctant, and his patience for her runs for miles. He would pull up his sleeve and allow her to practice biting on his arm and even if she made tons of mistakes, he would pat her head and tell her to try again. He knows how important this is for her.

“Aww, my little kitten is such a big girl now! Don’t hurt Daddy though, okay?”

This idol is super excited to teach his precious daughter how to feed, but he’s hesitant in giving her his arm to practice on because idols should not be marked with wounds. He may ask his spouse for help, but his spouse wouldn’t be of any use, so Kou will have to take care of it himself. He’d wince when his daughter bites down on his wrist harshly, but nevertheless proud when she succeeds.

“Hurry up and take a bite. Don’t ya worry about me, you should worry about yerself!”

Yuma is rather blunt and to the point when he teaches his daughter how to suck blood, but he will allow her to partake from his neck. He thinks that it’s better that way because that’s where most vampires bite from anyway. When his daughter cheekily comments that his blood is sweet like tomatoes, Yuma would get flustered and tell her that she’ll find other flavors that she’ll enjoy more in the future.

“It’s not…scary…just use your…fangs and…bite me…”

Azusa treats his little fledgling with delicacy and makes her feel comfortable with his lessons. His spouse would have to monitor their sessions in case Azusa got carried away, but other than that, his daughter would gain the basic knowledge and be successful with her practice rounds. Nothing else would make Azusa happier than seeing the genuine smile on his daughter’s face.

“You will be the First Blood Queen one day. You must take this seriously.”

Carla’s rebellious daughter doesn’t want to practice using her fangs! She just likes drinking from prepared sippy cups. Carla would become very stern with her though and inform her that she cannot be like this forever. With extra persuasion and some compromises made, Carla would have his daughter practice from his wrist where his blood veins show. It was certainly a memorable victory for him.

Believing that she was going to be a grown up now, Shin’s daughter was stoked when Shin announced that she would be learning how to draw blood from her prey. She is more than eager to practice on Shin’s arm, but when she takes her first bite without even calculating how hard she actually has to bite her father, Shin cries out in pain! He decides to postpone her training for another day…

I've had moments where I was really passionate about drawing cartoon. But I somehow always seemed to mess up the body... it just always looked so unnatural in comparison to their head. So very blocky and odd looking. I was wondering if you might have any advice for me to maybe pick up the cartooning again. By the way I love your blog, your whole vibe is so very positive and your doodles are amazingly cute❤ xx L.M

That is a very real and common struggle for artists that are just getting into figure drawing. I myself grew up drawing portraits, so when it came time to learn how to draw a full body, there was a huge gap between my head drawing skills and body drawing skills.

My advice is that you need to stop thinking of your drawing as separate parts, and work on the entire thing as a whole. I hope that makes sense? The temptation is to draw a really great head, then attach a body to it, but that just makes the drawing look funky. You have to take each stage of your drawing as one piece. Look at the shape of the entire body, with the head, and as you add more detail, do so all around the drawing not just at the parts you’re most comfortable with.

First, figure out the overall action and gesture of the body.

Then, block in the big shapes and try to make the proportions of the head and body parts look right.

Keep adding detail.

Whenever you ask an artist how to git gud at art their response always seems to be something along the lines of "practice a lot". What do you practice on, though? I feel like just doodling aimlessly is not wery rewarding, at least for me.

Well of course.  You’re not supposed to doodle aimlessly, you’re supposed to doodle with the intent of getting better.  Draw the things you don’t know how to draw, draw them again, and draw them a million more times after that.  The things I practice on are gonna be different from the things you practice on.

You don’t “git gud” at soccer by learning a few tips and tricks, you “git gud” at soccer by kicking the ball over and over, running around, kicking it more, and discovering in the process of doing so what techniques you need to work on to make yourself better.  A coach helps, but a coach isn’t gonna be able to tell you “the secret plan” to make you good at soccer.”

Not to mention, the “doodling aimlessly” thing… I get the feeling you’re categorizing notebook drawings and sketches that don’t get finished as “aimless.”  Dude… what do you think I was doing my entire career in school?  What do you think I still do these days?  What do you think ANY artist ever did?  Those “aimless” doodles ARE practice.  It’s a matter of mindset.  If you think they’re pointless, then yeah, they’re gonna be pointless, because you’re going at it with a defeatist attitude.  That’s gonna get you nowhere.

Guys, guess who’s done with their exams and plans to spend their whole summer drawing Kieran?

Sorry this picture is shit and just a quick sketch-after such a long break I feel like I need to learn how to use my hand to draw again /( ̄ロ ̄;)\

But there’s a lot of time to make some progress!
