No better way to end a night at SXSW then with a big ol’ dance party. Tuesday night tons of DJs including Hudson Mohawke and The Blessings delivered just that. On Snapchat? Be sure to follow all the action live this week, you can find us with username: vans_66
The Glasgow-born producer Hudson Mohawke keeps on surprising us with frankly quite a bit of ups and downs. “Ryderz” is a particular upper period of the hype towards the release of his upcoming album “Lantern” out in mid-June. Mohawke’s special touch on the soul classic by DJ Rogers “Watch Out For The Riders” is entirely adapted to the thumping 808′s and the producer’s typical horns.
NPR Music: Miguel, Antony and Jhené Aiko will appear on your new album, Lantern, out in June. How did you choose the vocalists?
HudMo: Well, I wanted less rapping. More songs on this record and the collaborations came around organically from sessions as people stopped by London. We all follow each other and speak on Twitter and I really wanted to work in the room with people as oppose to sending stems about the Internet for remote writing.
I FINALLY GOT IT. This is the track that Kanye bought from TNGHT (Lunice & Hudson Mohawke) for “Blood on The Leaves”. This is the original. This is the first track that they made together for their EP. Since Kanye swooped it, it didn’t make the finally release.
