This is my friend's story. I found it pretty impossible to believe, at first, but after checking in with his dad, the main focus of this story, my doubt faded.
Before my friend was born, Sean, his father, was working on his parents’ house on Block Island, where everyone knows everyone else. While working, he saw a little girl with a small dog inside the house that he did not recognize. This little girl wore a raggity, old dress, with light hair and a bonnet. The dog was a tiny, shaggy little thing, though I can’t remember what breed it was exactly.
Sean asked, “Are you lost, little girl?“
Without responding, she and her dog casually left the house, through the door. Sean didn’t bother going after them.
The very next day, Sean walked into the house, ready to get to work again, only to come upon the same little girl, still with her dog, only she was now accompanied by a little boy. The little boy wore checkered knickers, a sweater over a long-sleeve dress-shirt, and a paperboy hat. The boy seemed to be related to the girl.
Again, Sean asked, "Are you lost, children?"
Once again, the children and the dog walked out of the building, but this time through the wall! Sean, stunned, didn’t really know how to react, so he simply didn’t.
The next day, Sean, and his girlfriend, Kari, went back to the house. By now, Sean had given up on construction on the house, and merely wanted to find out what was going on. Kari had brought her camera, and they were ready to do some snoopin’.
As usual, the girl, the boy, and the dog were all there, waiting, but this time, a large, burly man in a top hat accompanied them. He was much more aggressive than his counterparts, and actually acknowledged Sean and Kari.
Sean demanded to know what the mysterious strangers were doing in his parents house. Kari was, sadly, too stunned to take any pictures of these figures, terrified by the hostile man.
"Leave this house NOW, or there WILL be consequences,” the man threatened Sean and Kari. Scared for their safety, reasonably, Sean and Kari booked it out of there.
Soon after, Sean’s parents decided to move out of the house altogether. I don’t exactly know if there were any other incidents that prompted this decision. Shockingly, not long after this, the house burned down to the ground for reasons unknown. Sean, who lived right across the street from this house, and still does, claims he saw the shadow of the burly man in the window of the house as it burned.

This isn’t one story, as such, but two incidents that both me and my friend have experienced. We live on the same street, and the weird thing is, anytime we have anything spooky happen to us, it happens to the other person to, without us telling the other person.
One moment that I’ll never forget happening was in the middle of the night, when I was trying to sleep. I turned over, looked across my room and saw a black/grey cat. I owned two cats at the time, so I can’t really explain why I felt instantly terrified. I couldn’t move, and everything seemed to move in slow motion. It was looking right at me, and stepped backwards, into mid-air. Then it just melted away. I was sleeping in a loft bed at the time, so it can’t have been my cat.
Me and my friend are quite interested in the paranormal, so I asked her a few days later if she’d ever had any weird experiences. She told me she often saw shadow cats, shadow dogs and shadow figures that would come into her bedroom and then just fade away. I was shocked.
About a week ago, I was in my house alone. I was reading a book, when I began to hear noises of footsteps upstairs. I instantly freaked out, because nobody was in my house, and there was nobody next door either, they’d moved out a few weeks ago. I stayed frozen in that position, as the footsteps kept sounding upstairs. I don’t know how long I stayed like that, but it finally ended.
The next day I was at school with my friend. She seemed a little freaked out, and I asked her about it. She told me she’d been hearing footsteps upstairs, but her and her little brother were the only ones in the house and were watching tv.
There’s been other incidents, but those two are the most recent.
