Tour de France stage 11 - Besancon to Oyonnax 187.5km
The long and lonely ride.
It takes a large heart and guts to be a Tour de France racer, American Andrew Talansky, Garmin Sharp, proved it today. Dealing with major back pain and injuries from multiple crashes Talansky stopped on the road side in front of the broom wagon. After a short talk with team manager Robby Hunter, Talansky got back on his bike. Talansky was the last racer on course and crossed the finished line before being eliminated by time deficit.
Tony Gallopin, Lotto-Belisol, won the stage.
Vincenzo Nibali, Astana, remains in yellow.
UPDATE:Talansky abandon Tour de France before the start of stage 12.
