If his in-laws knew what he was up to, they’d throw him in prison for endangering the heir apparent to the throne of Corona, but Eugene didn’t care. They didn’t always get to tell him how to raise his daughter. He lifted her onto the palace railing, the view of the lake and the mainland beyond stunning.
“Don’t worry, Sunbeam. Daddy’s got you. Just take it slow, one step at a time.”
She grinned over at him briefly, but mostly kept her eyes on her feet. He did the exact same thing, watching her feet like a hawk for any possible misstep, his grip on her wrists firm, but not painfully tight.
“Look, Daddy! I’m doing it!”
“That you are! And someday soon, you’ll be running on the rooftops with me!”
Tonight, I got some serious daddy!Eugene feels, and I just had to do something about it. (Before anyone asks, no, her name is not supposed to be Sunbeam. That’s just a typical Eugene-style nickname.) Her dress was designed by David Gilson for little Rapunzel, but I thought it was appropriate to reuse it on her.
And a special thanks to @thatsthat24 for giving me permission to use one of his family photos as a model.
