I think these two guys would’ve made swell friends. Two supposed “yankees” who have bad reputations they don’t want, trying to make a fresh start for themselves at a new school.

Anyway, I started reading Yamada and the Seven Witches and got hooked, then marathoned this series (plus the live action drama) because all of Miki Yoshikawa’s stuff is great, basically. Her characters are really, really interesting. They play along with stereotypes in some ways but twist them around in others, in ways that don’t feel forced, or cliched. Chiba is my favourite. (Seiya Chiba, though? Really? ‘Cause that brings up some really interesting mental images.)
