M20 - The Trifid Nebula. Okay, this is a summer deep-sky object, but the skies have been so cloudy here lately I’ve resorted to digging deep into the archives! My small scope provides a large feild of view on this area.
Messier 20 resides in the constellation of Sagittarius. It is a combination of an open star cluster, an emission nebula, reflection nebula and a dark nebula.
I remember the first time I saw this nebula in one of my astronomy books and said, some day I will photograph this! That day came to fruition in April 2013.
