Executive Producer

‘Insecure’ season two is television for us, by us — and it’s even better than before

  • Issa Rae is hella casual about being one of television’s rising stars. The Golden Globe-nominated actress and executive producer of HBO’s Insecure demurs in interviews when media personalities mention she’s made it “to the top.”
  • Perhaps that’s why the show’s recent Emmy snub doesn’t faze Rae. To her, she’s still working her way up there. “It would have been amazing to get an Emmy nomination … but that just motivates me more,” Rae told Vanity Fair. “We’re gonna get on the radar.”
  • But to her core audience of young black viewers, Rae’s already buzzing at high frequency. The series — which pulled in 3.2 million viewers per episode in its first season — was renewed by the network before its debut season ended.
  • Social media users erupted over the season one finale after Issa’s estranged boyfriend Lawrence (Jay Ellis) enacts revenge and gets it all the way poppin’ with friendly bank teller Tasha (Dominque Perry). Whether fans were #TeamIssa or #TeamLawrence, they knew one thing — they were ready for more, pronto. Read more. (7/22/17, 11:30PM)
Both [physical and emotional], and what that does to him, what that does to the team or does to his family will be very interesting… John Diggle, sergeant major, four tours in Afghanistan, married, divorced, married again, has a child, vigilante, father, husband, is probably the most evolved character on the show, arguably. I was talking to [executive producers] Marc [Guggenheim] and Wendy [Mericle], and we all seem to agree. I think you’re going to see Diggle in a way, unlike his brother coming back from the dead and killing his brother and leading to the death of Canary and going to jail and getting out, unlike all those things where we see things that Diggle can recover from. I think in Season 6 you’re gonna see Diggle be broken in a way he’s never been broken. And it starts in 601. It starts in the first episode. So I think you’re gonna see a dramatic change in what Diggle really has to deal with on an emotional and physical level in a way we haven’t seen.

'Once Upon a Time': Emilie de Ravin Books Return in Season 7

The actress, who first joined the ABC fairy tale drama in season 1 as Belle of Beauty and the Beast fame, exited OUAT as a series regular alongside five other actors at the close of season 6. However, when EW sat down with executive producers Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis, and David H. Goodman to conduct the first edition of The Hot Seat for season 7, the trio confirmed that de Ravin would return in episode 4 to provide an update on Belle.

the dream daddy secret ending is not cut content, there’s an achievement pertaining to it, executive producer arin hanson confirmed it on his twitter, it was VOICE ACTED, FULLY ILLUSTRATED, AND THERE IS MUSIC FROM IT LOCATED IN THE CODE.

and that is FINE. quit pinholing queer content into some tiny box just because you think the gays need positive representation only. this is the only fucking gay dating game i’ve ever played without gay panic, a canon trans character, trans character customization options, etc. this is a gay game made by gays for gays and it’s gay and evil twists don’t make it any less incredible and gay. chill tf out.

Westworld - Season 2 Comic-Con Trailer

From Executive Producers, J.J. Abrams, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Westworld returns in 2018.

Once Upon a Time' Drops First Two Scenes From Season 7 Premiere at Comic-Con

Once Upon a Time faced its latest test at Comic-Con panel on Saturday, when it presented its “rebooted” season seven for the fans in San Diego – the first without several of its departed original series regulars.

But things got off to a rocky start when a vocal fan yelled out at the top of the panel, “Why?!,” likely referencing the cast shakeup, which saw the exits of Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas and Emilie de Ravin. Moderator Yvette Nicole Brown shut down the fan, warning the passionate audience that negativity was going to be condoned.

After the hiccup, executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz echoed their remarks at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, last Saturday, reassuring fans that this new season – which introduces several new actors to the fold – isn’t a redo but “a new adventure” and promising that the last six seasons will “not be erased.”

“It almost feels like we’re starting the show afresh because it’s a new version of the show, so it’s almost like we’re starting over,” said star Colin O’Donoghue, who plays Captain Hook.

Attendees in Ballroom 20 were treated to an exclusive screening of the first two scenes from the season seven premiere, which opens with young Henry (Jared Gilmore) saying goodbye to Regina (Lana Parrilla) as he leaves home – on a new motorcycle (“August taught me how [to ride],” he says to a worried Regina) – in search of new adventures.

In the next scene, it’s “years later” in “another realm,” and we see adult Henry (Andrew J. West) riding through the woods on the same motorcycle, nearly crashing into Cinderella’s (Dania Ramirez) carriage, whom he will later marry and have a daughter with. Oops! Adult Henry takes a look at her glass slippers and it all starts to click: “Cinderella?”

After the screening, O’Donoghue had a gripe about the second scene shown, asking this fair plot question: “Where did Henry get the gas for the motorcycle from?” Kitsis hilariously feigned annoyance, joking that there’s an Exxon in between realms and that it’ll be written into “episode five, thanks to Colin!” “I’ve just got myself fired,” O’Donoghue adorably quipped.

Fans also met three of the new stars, West, Ramirez and Gabrielle Anwar, who plays Lady Tremaine. Though West had a previous relationship with Kitsis and Horowitz through their Freeform show, Dead of Summer, Ramirez and Anwar auditioned.

Kitsis provided more details on how the returning regulars, O’Donoghue, Parrilla and Robert Carlyle, join the fold. “The three people that you see on this stage come to [Henry’s] rescue. It’s really these three and Henry on this epic adventure and that’s Once Upon a Time,” he shared.

Additionally, it was revealed that Mekia Cox will play Princess Tiana; Adelaide Kane will play Drizella, one of Cinderella’s evil stepsisters; Rose Reynolds will play a new version of Alice in Wonderland “since no one watched the spinoff [Once Upon a Time in Wonderland].”

As for plans for a “prominent” LGBTQ storyline, Kitsis promised that it will come sooner, rather than later. “We are planning to do it this year,” he said.

Bughead (Today's Panel) S2

After watching the panel, I’m feeling better about Bughead’s future…Roberto, the main creator, seemed quite enthusiastic about them. Each time they were mentioned, he would say “Wohoo!”…And he would use their ship name to talk about them. Let’s also remember he called them epic recently.

Also Sarah, the executive producer, talked about how casting is crucial…and then made a sarcastic joke “I mean…no one cares about Bughead.”

I think they will have major obstacles in S2. But at least the writers and production team are fully aware of their huge popularity. Recall that the cast was also joking about how no one cares about Bughead in another interview.

Their popularity has truly blossomed. And everyone is aware. ;) I’m feeling blessed.

Only a rough situation and some of the happenings on stage (eg. a phone will ring, someone will arrive) are predetermined.
  •   “AD-LIVE” is becoming more and more popular every year and last year, a total of 70,000 people (including the Live Viewing)  attended the stage, up from 10,000 people from the previous year.

‘Black Lightning’ Casts James Remar & Damon Gupton As Series Regulars

Former Dexter star James Remar and Criminal Minds alum Damon Gupton have signed on as series regulars opposite Cress Williams in the CW’s DC drama Black Lightning, from producer Greg Berlanti.

The show’s executive producers Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil announced the castings during the show’s session this afternoon at San Diego Comic-Con.

Based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce (Williams. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter, Jennifer, hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning. Along with Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams also star.

Remar will play Peter Gambi, the oldest friend of Jefferson Pierce (Williams) and Jefferson’s father figure, mentor and “tailor”. His history with Jefferson goes back farther and deeper than anyone knows, and Gambi’s role in Jefferson’s life will become a painful window into the past that will affect the future of their relationship forever.

Gupton is Inspector Henderson, a veteran officer of the law who is now the highest-ranking detective on the force. His role in the community puts him at odds with Black Lightning (Williams), but they soon become unlikely allies.

Black Lightning hails from Berlanti Productions and Akil Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil & Mara Brock Akil and Sarah Schechter.

‘Riverdale’ Season 2 Spoilers: Fred’s Shooter To Be Named In Premiere

“Riverdale” Season 2 will finally solve the mystery surrounding Fred Andrews (Luke Perry) in the premiere episode.

While at the 2017 San Diego Comic-Con, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that the identity of the person who shot Fred will be unveiled in episode 1. And due to Fred’s recent shooting, his son, Archie (KJ Apa), will be forever changed. In fact, a much darker Archie will be featured in the upcoming 22 episodes of the hit The CW series.

Cast member Cole Sprouse also opened up about his character, Jughead, who is now a member of the Southside Serpents. “[Jughead] is placed in the middle of two worlds that are starting to collide and erupt. It’s going to start forcing him to pick a side, which is a dangerous place for him to be in because he’s a very morally grey character,” he said (via TV Line).

Sprouse added that he won’t have as much screentime with the characters as he did in Season 1. But Jughead will still be spending a lot of time with his girlfriend, Betty (Lili Reinhart). According to Reinhart, Jughead and Betty’s relationship will be put to the test. “She doesn’t want to lose her man and also doesn’t want him to get into any danger,” she said.

Meanwhile, the official teaser for Season 2 was was unveiled during Saturday’s panel. The one-minute clip opens with a panicked Archie bringing his dad to the hospital to receive treatment. In the next scene, Archie tells his friends that his dad was shot at Pop Tate and while telling them the story, he suddenly stops sharing further information.

Jughead realizes that Archie may know something about his dad’s shooter, but the latter decides to withhold information from them. Elsewhere in the clip, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) visits her mom at the hospital. It is confirmed that the Blossom matriarch burned her body following the house fire that Cheryl herself started in the Season 1 finale.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct 11 at 9 p.m. EST.

Arrow's Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, Willa Holland and more discussed Season 5's deadly cliffhanger and the direction of Season 6.

Arrow has set its sights on Comic-Con International in San Diego. Stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Echo Kellum, Rick Gonzales, Juliana Harkavy and executive producers Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim were on hand to discuss the show’s deadly Season 5 cliffhanger, as well as what’s in store for Season 6.

“As you can imagine, they were all very excited to hear we’re blowing everybody up,” Mericle laughed. “We really wanted to wrap up Oliver’s story, which was going back to where Oliver started.”

“We’re not rebooting the show. In fact, we’re going to double down on a lot of things that really resonated with people in Season 5,” Guggenheim added. “We’re going to see a different Oliver Queen… we’re looking forward to telling some very different stories.”

“He’s not the best dad,” Amell said of his character Oliver Queen. “My first day on Season 6, and you see a little bit in the footage… it was all with Jack, the kid who plays William… I was really, legitimately nervous… not only was he equal to the task, he exceeded my expectations… to start on episode 116, and to be able to do fun new stuff as Oliver has been a real joy so far this season. But yeah, he’s a shit dad.”

“Obviously, so excited to be back. It feels like I never left,” Cassidy shared. “It’s been home, and we’re family. It’s definitely been pretty easy just getting back int he swing of things. I will say it’s interesting, the dynamic between Black Siren and other characters… the different points of view…. it’s good.”

Starring Stephen Amell as the Emerald Archer, Arrow returns Thursday, October 12 at 9pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Emily Bett Rickards, David Ramsey, Willa Holland and more.

Reading the synopsis for "Richard Says Goodbye" I get the feeling that this is gonna be an EPIC film! Is the studio that's running it the one that johnny owns?

Right!? If it’s done well it could be amazing. And Johnny’s company is partnering with the other production company, yes! So he’s executive producer, though TBH I doubt he even knows what that means
