Eugeni Forcano was born in Canet de Mar (Barcelona) in 1926. He was self-taught and soon began to show a fascination for the power of images and the way of capturing this power. He set up his first laboratory in the city of his birth, where he recorded scenes of local life. From 1959, he began to take part in international competitions and photography exhibitions, where he won various major prizes.
Between 1960 and 1974 he worked for the weekly “Destino”, creating its front covers and reports. In 1963 he began to work with the press agencies France Press and Dalmas. He also took part in projects in the world of advertising, fashion and book illustration. His interest in experimentation and research led him to venture into creative photography, somewhere between surrealism and symbolism, which was reported in the international press. Throughout his career he has received numerous distinctions, including the National Photography Award in 2012. (+)
