y'all before I forget I had the most fucked up dream about TJLC
I dreamed I was thinking about things – general life things and I think physics? – and I had some HUGE epiphany. So huge I didn’t have time to process it in words. Like some Theory of Everything kind of epiphany where I solved the whole universe, or something. There was nothing left to figure out, EVER.
And a split second after I had it, I like… got untethered from my body and I woke up in some sort of weird looking computer lab, and I was an alien! I was an alien who had been playing some sort of highly immersive game where you erase all your memories and pretend to be a human. The goal of the game was to see how fast you could figure out the universe with the handicap of a human mind. When you figured it out, the game booted you out and you woke up immediately.
I felt groggy but it only took me a second to remember where I was. It felt entirely real. I blinked and looked around and there were tons of aliens slumped over these gunmetal gray desks around me. I realized I had won that round: I knew I beat the other ones because I woke up first. I felt pretty happy about it. I wondered how long it was going to take them to wake up because I wanted to go again.
But then I still was in the headspace of remembering the character I had played, and I thought, *Whoa, no! She never actually got to see Johnlock happen!* And I was about to feel bad about it, but I couldn’t? I just couldn’t care about it like I had moments before, when I didn’t know I was an alien. None of it had been real so there was no point. Like, it was a thing that sometimes we would share funny stories about the whacked out stuff that had happened in our games, and I was like, yeah, wow, the other guys are gonna love this one. Everyone would think it was hilarious.
What was especially fucked up was how real it all felt. It was one of those dreams where you feel like you’ve found some reality that’s more true, which was the worst way to have this specific dream.
So I stood my alien ass up to go somewhere and then I WOKE UP FEELING UTTER TERROR AND RELIEF.
AND THEN I LAUGHED LIKE A MANIAC BECAUSE THAT’S SUCH AN OVER-THE-TOP WAY TO WAKE UP FEELING TERRIFIED, like “oh no oh no oh NO I HAVE TO SEE JOHNLOCK HAPPEN, I CAN’T BE THIS ALIEN RIGHT NOW, THIS IS WRONG”
