Twelve Days of Twelve, Day 12: Peter Capaldi Appreciation

Maybe (probably) it was because I was there, but this has always been one of my favorite stories about Doctor Who that Peter’s told during interviews. The World Tour was just full stop amazing and honestly (looking at it now) only hinted at what a big Whovian Peter was before ever getting this job. His love for the show has been so clear in everything he’s done- both in acting and in being an amazing, kind, lovely ambassador for the show. I’m so happy that he got to fulfill his childhood dream and play Doctor Who.

If your taking requests, will you draw your favorite regeneration of the Doctor and companion (regardless of whether that version of the Doctor traveled with the companion) because I love Doctor Who so much!

I am bad at picking favorites (and mismatching Doctors and companions is fun) soooOOOOOoOo…

here is Eight and Martha Jones

favorite tv shows moodboard: Doctor Who (2005 – present)

So… So… Come on, then. Take mine. Take my memories. But I hope you’ve got a big appetite because I’ve lived a long life and I’ve seen a few things. I walked away from the Last Great Time War. I marked the passing of the Time Lords. I saw the birth of the universe and I watched as time ran out, moment by moment, until nothing remained. No time. No space. Just me. I walked in universes where the laws of physics were devised by the mind of a madman. I’ve watched universes freeze and creations burn. I have seen things you wouldn’t believe. I have lost things you will never understand. And I know things, secrets that must never be told and knowledge that must never be spoken. Knowledge that will make parasite gods blaze. So come on then! Take it! Take it all, baby!

Lesley Sharp:
“When Sky is copying people’s speech patterns, we both had to learn the square root of pi to two or three dozen decimal places, but it was almost impossible to keep up with David.  His speech pattern, the rate at which he speaks, is phenomenally fast.  Really, really quick.  He learns pages and pages and pages.  And the rate at which he speaks is the rate at which he thinks.  Russell explained to me that David’s Doctor has a lot to say, because that’s David.  He’s so bright.  Isn’t that brilliant though?  The things that Russell thinks about and then re-interprets - I think they’re both amazing.”
        – from DWM #397

From the Midnight DVD Commentary (with David Tennant, Russell T. Davies, and director Alice Troughton):
David Tennant: We did rehearse the pi-number quite a lot…
Russell T. Davies: I remember you learning that the day after you got the script!
DT: Yeah, I just thought, “Oh, I see…”
RTD:  You walked into the Sontaran read-though and just rattled off the square root of pi!
DT:  I got the script the night before, and thought, “He’s given me the square root of pi to 30 decimal places…  I’m gonna show him.”
RTD & Alice Troughton:  [big laugh]
DT: …and I got up early, and learnt it over breakfast
RTD: And it was brilliant!

who else is part of Team “I just become obsessed with shows to avoid my real life stress and anxiety”? As a social work grad student I can say that the amount of time I invest in my favorite shows is becoming problematic, but fuck it because they make me happy.

Stolen Glances - I have watched the series 8 episode TIME HEIST many times before. It’s one of my favorite Whoufaldi stories. However, this time I noticed something unusual.  When Twelve says the line “picture the thing you want most in the universe”, he quickly glances at Clara.  Nothing new there. What I failed to notice was that Clara returns his glance.  She looks at him, too. I don’t know how I missed that.

Both Jenna and Peter have said on numerous occasions that much of the Twelve/Clara relationship was based on what was left unsaid. Their stolen glances and looks play as important a part in their dynamic as words from a Moffat script.

I wish other TV shows could incorporate the subtlety and nuance that series 7, 8 and 9 did for Doctor Who. Even on repeated viewing, you can still gain insight into your favorite characters. That’s my kind of TV.

Doctor Who AU // OT3 : Doctor!Newt / compagnions!Credence/Percival

Newt, aka The Doctor, found this two boys lost in their lives, he decided to show them the Universe. They will fight together, and fall in love together.

(My two favorite things since some months…I needed to mix this two fandoms! :D (sorry if I made some mistakes in english x) )

Sherlock AU

Supernatural AU

Finn the Stormtrooper and Doctor Who teaming up to fight monsters.

Seriously, see Attack the Block if you can, one of my favorite monster/80s style “kid heroes on bikes” pictures. It’s basically “Goonies in the ghetto.” I liked this movie, but I am astounded it’s now become the Freaks & Geeks or Ben Stiller Show of geek culture, where it was a smaller project that produced a higher than normal rate of big stars.

Happy 10th year anniversary to one of my all time favorite Doctor Who episodes! Thought I’d bring this back to honor this pure genius of an episode that taught me not to “Blink” in front of weeping statues. I really miss these types of episodes—great cast chemistry, cleverly woven storylines that are not overly complicated but enough to make you think, and relatable characters. This, and “Vincent and the Doctor” are the total game changer episodes that made me fall in love with show. How I wish we get to see this side of Doctor Who again.
