Defense-Department

People fear what they do not understand
And the inner workings of this shell of astral projection
is not free from protection from the pentagon
or the department of defense
But rather, is biding it’s time
Until the man-made apocalypse
From ignorant and greedy men with fingers on black triggers
And friends in high places

Persian Gulf. May 17, 1987. A view of the guided missile frigate USS Stark listing to port after being hit by two Iraqi Exocet missiles within 30 seconds. 37 sailors were killed. Though exact details remain unclear, the Iraqi government at the time stated that the attack was in error, that the Iraqi pilot had thought the Stark was an Iranian tanker, and officially apologised to the United States. The incident took place two miles outside an exclusion zone enforced during the Iran-Iraq war.

The Pentagon reportedly buried a report showing it wasted $125 billion of taxpayer money

  • The Department of Defense buried a report saying it could have prevented wasting $125 billion of taxpayers’ money.
  • The Pentagon buried the report in order to protect its massive budget.
  • The defense report (released in January 2015) outlined a series of solutions for the Pentagon to save $125 billion over five years without firing any civilian or military personnel.
  • It was killed by high-ranking defense officials who believed exposing administrative waste could cause Congress to allocate it less money in the future. Read more

Timothy McVeigh’s response to the Department of Defense after they demanded he pay $1,058 in restitution for overpaid wages from his time in the military.

I have received your notice informing me of my debt owed to you, as well as your threat of referring me to the Justice Department (Big Brother). In all honesty, I cannot even dream of repaying you the $1,000 which you say I owe. In fact, I can barely afford my monthly rent. Assets? The only thing I own of any value is my car, a 1987 Chevrolet/Geo Spectrum. If you really want the car, go ahead and seize it.

My car is my only way to get to work to support myself. But I guess that’s all irrelevant to you. Go ahead, take everything I own; take my dignity. Feel good as you grow fat and rich at my expense; sucking my tax dollars and property, tax dollars which justify your existence and pay your federal salary. Do you get it? By doing your evil job, you put me out of work.

The US Department of Defence (DOD) has put forward a plan to develop biodegradable training ammunition loaded with specialised seeds, meaning that when a bullet degrades, a plant will grow in its place.

The US Army currently manufactures and consumes hundreds of thousands of bullets per day in training exercises. The ground, over which these projectiles are fired, often becomes littered with cartridge cases and sabot petals, on the surface or even several feet underground. These components take hundreds of years to degrade, and there is no clear way of finding and eliminating all used projectiles from battle or training grounds.

The DOD says that these biodegradable bullets can be manufactured from water bottles, plastic containers and any other composite or plastic product available on the market. The US Army Corps of Engineers’ Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory has demonstrated that the bioengineered seeds that can be embedded in the resulting composites, and will not germinate until they have been in the ground for several months.

The seeds are said to grow into environmentally friendly plants, removing contaminates from the soil and consuming the biodegradable components of the bullets. They are also harmless to animals, allowing them to be consumed with no ill effects.

Since I didn’t make it to the USWNT’s 5th game of the 2015 World Cup (the only one I missed), I’d like to share this defensive sequence from the 4th game: Ali Krieger (and Tobin Heath) vs. Lady Andrade.

Could I get a rundown of the political side of the military in the States? Like, ok, the president is Commander in Chief but doesn't have to actually know Military Things but I'd assume the Secretary of Defense does and would have to be a high-ranking officer. Are there other ways officers are involved in the political side of things? What's the lowest rank you can be and still be involved in that?

Your assumptions are incorrect, actually! The military’s involvement pretty much ends at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which is basically like a council of military folks who discuss strategy and such with the rest of the government. The Inspector General of the Department of Defense and the Secretary of Defense are both supposed to be civilians. As a matter of fact, it’s a congressional law that the SoD has to have been a civilian for at least seven years (used to be ten years) because the federal government doesn’t actually want a service member running the military. The further you are removed from the military, the better.

A prime example of this occurred only just recently. The present SoD actually had to get a waiver because he’d only just retired two years prior, and of course the fact that the waiver passed has caused great controversy.

Snippet from the NY Times:
“Congress made an exception to this law under extraordinary circumstances when President Truman asked Congress to allow George Marshall, a five-star general and a hero of World War II, to lead the Defense Department during the Korean War. Despite widespread popularity and admiration for Marshall, a heated debate and hearings ensued. In the end, Congress agreed to make a one-time exemption, but not without adding an addendum in the law making clear that, “after General Marshall leaves the office of Secretary of Defense, no additional appointments of military men to that office shall be approved.”

The only people who are typically going to be even glancing at politics will be flag officers, and given that that cuts things down to a few hundred people, I’d say the overwhelming majority of active duty soldiers will never have any hand in politics whatsoever.

I am a big fan of numbers and raw data.  So when I got curious I went online to look at what the United States federal government actually spends all its money on.  This is a breakdown of federal spending for 2016.

I was a little surprised that the department of defense wasn’t #1 on the list, to be honest.  Considering that America’s military is bigger than the next 5 biggest militaries put together, I would have expected it to be higher up.  However, at $516 billion, it’s still pretty high up there.  From what I can see, it’s only getting beaten by the Department of Health and Human Services.  I’d imagine that department is eating a lot of the rising costs of healthcare, so that’s no big surprise.  That department also includes the NIH, which is one of the biggest providers of biomedical research in the world, and that can get pretty expensive.

The above list is a bit hard to read, so to recap:

Health and human services: $994.5 billion

Dept of defense: $516 billion (not including the $46 billion for Homeland Security, which is considered separate)

Dept of Treasury:  $484 billion

Dept of Agriculture: $138 billion

Veterans affairs: $159 billion

Dept of Education:  $70 billion

State department: $27 billion

EPA: $7.5 billion

NASA: $17 billion

I feel like looking at the numbers this way puts President Trump’s proposed $54 billion increase in defense spending into perspective.  That’s literally enough to fund the EPA seven times over.  That’s more than the state department and NASA combined.  And he is proposing the government gets this money by making cuts in other departments.  You could completely eliminate the department of labor and still not have enough to fund just the increase in the defense budget.  Mr. trump, you are moving money the wrong way, I’m sorry.

All right so that’s what it is.  Then i looked at where this money is coming from:

are you fucking with me??  Corporate tax is 9% of the federal income??  I expected it to be much more.

The CDC and Department of Defense have just announced that all citizens should form a series of code words in their party as a mandatory safety precaution. The beings are evolving at an alarming rate, and have developed advanced mimicry abilities; able to impersonate any person who they encounter within a 10 mile radius.

So, if you see someone you know, and they don’t know the code word…run as fast as you can and don’t answer them, even if their pleas for help sound genuine. Don’t let them inside. Don’t reason with or bargain with them. They're not your friend. Do NOT trust them. They’re, for your safety and well-being, a threat not only to you, but the fate of humanity.

Be careful, everyone. We’re going to beat them…I hope.

In response to the Pentagon’s deployment of about 400 American ground troops to Syria, U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) is introducing a bill Friday that would block the Defense Department from putting any more “boots on the ground” in the ongoing conflict. “The bill I am introducing today prohibits the Department of Defense from funding any attempt by the administration to expand our presence in Syria by putting U.S. combat boots on the ground,” Lee told The Hill in a statement.

Rep. Barbara Lee earlier has voted against American intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unfortunately, the Congress mostly consists of bloody hawks serving the military complex. That’s why American soldiers continue to ruin the Middle East countries and loose their lives in these pointless acts of military aggression. We need more politicians like brave Barbara Lee to put an end to the bloodshed.
