Some of you out there who gave me their emphatic advice to NOT purloin the neck from my excellent homemade black DeeBeeCaster™ (right in the photos above) to build my new surf green DeeBeeCaster™ thinline (left), will be happy to hear that in the end the neck was not a great fit…so I stole a different neck off another, older, less amazing DeeBeeCaster™!

As I said - some of you will be happy to hear this…and of course some of you out there quite literally won’t give a flying f*ck to hear this.  :D

Anyhoo: here is my newly built surf green Telecaster Thinline replica.  Body by Maverick Guitar Parts of Toronto, maple neck by Stewmac, repro Fender Broadcaster decal by some guy on the internet who is no longer in business, pickups by the Fender Custom Shop, Gotoh vintage locking tuners, genuine Fender Tele bridge with black saddles

Now that you mention it, yes, I do feel kind of bad for pillaging the hand wound #pickups and #harness from this 2009 #FSR #American #Standard #Telecaster in #fiesta #red for my black #Custom #DeeBeeCaster®. But in my defense, the pickups and a good portion of the wiring weren’t original anyway AND I was out at my friend Peter’s #guitar #shop (#Mojo #Music of #Oakville, near #Toronto, http://www.mojomusic.ca) today and picked up a set of #Lollar pickups and I plan to build a new harness with #CTS #pots and all cloth wiring…this #Fender is actually going to be BETTER than it was before…or ever for that matter! :D

The new #DeeBeeCaster® is back online. I will spare you the gruesome details of how I had to wire it from scratch THREE TIMES, but I finally deduced that one or more of my components was faulty, but I have no way to test pots or caps or switches, so instead I ended up using all new components. And (thank Jebus!) It works again. In fact it’s pretty awesome!

My greens: ‘97 #Rickenbacker #360 in #Turquoise, 2007 #Nash #S63 #Stratocaster #replica in #Seafoam, and home made @maverick_guitar #DeeBeeCaster™ Custom #Thinline #Telecaster replica in #SurfGreen.

I know they are not #Gibson #guitars, but they are green. AND green was how I felt today because spring has arrived in the Greater #Toronto Area. The temperature hit 20° C today (that’s just under 70° F…OK…2 degrees under 70°!) which is definitely warmer than it should be for this time if year. Also, Green starts with “g” and so does “Gibson”…so it’s ALMOST a #GibSunday post! Right? :\

My homemade DeeBeeCaster!  This was the first one I built, and I made ALL the mistakes on this one…from drilling holes in the wrong places, or off center, to sanding through the lacquer on the #headstock and damaging the decal, to misaligning the #pickguard and tuners and plugging holes and redrilling, to putting the #neck on crooked so the high E string was no longer above the #fretboard after about fret 15!
