Smoooooth R&B track from my favorite OFWGKTA member. This is a little less progressive then what we usually see from him, and has a much more mainstream feel - But it beautifully shows off his signature vocals. Ocean pours out his love in these lyrics, and I’ve probably played it 6 times this morning already.
“Dreams feel realer than right now, but whatever you do don’t let go. My only nightmare is waking up alone in a world where you’re not mine.”
Love, Lust and Sexual Conquest - are you ready for Bed Scenes/Sins ?
Love, lust and sexual conquest - these are the themes presented in “BedScenes/Sins,” a twin-bill of two-one-act gay themed plays, “Dapo” at “Carmi Martin,” written by award-winning playwright J. Dennis Teodosio, under the direction of Bong Cabrera (URIAN Best Actor nominee) and Paul Santiago.
The play “Dapo” is about the blossoming of new-found man-to-man love. The first play in the trilogy “Tatlong Bulaklak” (UP National Writers Workshop, 2007), presented originally at Barangay ni Jose, in Putol, San Pablo City
Here we see Rupert and James inside a motel room. Before the sun rises, they recollect where the meet, seeks to find the meaning of their tryst, and if what happened to them give them enough reasons to be together. Will this end happily ever after?
Playing the young couple are Jay Enriquez, the college student and Joe Andrei Vegas, the married man.
“Carmi Martin,” meanwhile, has nothing to do with the actress Ms. Carmi Martin. In gay lingo, it means ‘karma’. It is about Gabriel, a straight-acting, curious professor who picked up in the mall, Adonis, a sex trader pretending as a high school student.
In the process of trying to get to know each other, their mental and personal foreplay, allows the two to discuss about sex, the economy, subtext and love. Things get complicated between the characters and in the end a plan gets implemented with a little help from a glass of juice and comfortable bed.
“Carmi Martin” was first performed during the Virgin Lab Fest 6. It got three nominations during the 34thAliw Awards for Entertainment: Best Play (Non-Musical), Best Director (Paul Santiago), Best Actor (Paul Jake Paule). In this version, Paule portrays Gabriel, and Kyle Thomas David is the call boy.
“Bed Scenes/Sins” is produced by JNP Alternative Theater.
Performances are slated on July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5 and August 12, 7p.m, at The Library, Orosa St., Malate, Manila.
