“A woman was standing calmly, her long dress the only thing moving in the breeze, as two police officers in full riot gear confronted her in the middle of a roadway to arrest her. She had no facial expression at all. She just stood there.” ~ Jonathan Bachman, photographer
No Justice, No Peace (7.8.16): Some powerful shit just went down in Atlanta. Thousands came out to protest the lives stolen by police and vigilante violence, both locally and across the country. They shut down parts of both I-85 and I-75, A BIG FUCKING DEAL if you know the city (these are all 6+ lane interstates). So proud of all of my Atlanta fam tonight! Y’all have been working towards this for months, and I know you’re just getting started. #farfromover
Please keep Shetamia Taylor in your prayers today. She is the only reported civilian to be shot at the Dallas protest. She was shot while trying to protect her sons from sniper fire. Her condition appears to be stable at the moment!
Deray was arrested in Baton Rouge tonight after being tackled to the ground by two officers. Prior to the physical arrest, one of the officers made some random comment about Deray’s “loud sneakers”, and warned him to not walk in the street. Meanwhile, Deray was recording the entire protest via Periscope and walking alongside 8 of his associates/friends. They all took photographs and recorded video footage to document that there was NO SIDEWALK for protesters to travel on between point A and point B.
I am honestly still up at 2:34am simply waiting for news that Deray and the other 33 protestors have been released unharmed and safe. I just wished Deray a Happy Birthday less than 24 hours ago. It’s a crying shame to witness the state of our world. Its a mess!
It is very clear, and is even being reported by mainstream media, that it was snipers who were responsible for the deaths of five police officers last night in Dallas, NOT protesters.
Many headlines are still being written in a misleading (racist) way, saying things like “Dallas police officers killed at Black Lives Matter protest.” What the hell is someone reading at headline supposed to think? We all know what the assumption is.It is highly irresponsible to report this story in that way, but this example shows us the racism that is built into our mainstream, establishment media.
