Sherlock Holmes x Reader|| Outsmarting

“Anderson, don’t talk out loud. You lower the IQ of the whole street when you talk.” A deep voice said as I walked into the crime scene in an abandoned building.

“Excuse me, but could you shut up. We don’t need sarcasm when we’re trying to solve a murder.” I sassed, walking into the room with my heels clicking against the wood floors; crouching down next to what seemed like a murder of Professor Umbridge.

“It’s not that hard really, all you have to do is observe and then you have a case solved.” The curly haired, high cheek boned, deep voiced man said to me, looking over at me from the other side of the dead woman.

“Pink everything, cheating, in the rain, fresh makeup, late 20’s, plenty of money, takes ring off often, and no signs of murder. No signs of heavy mud or dirt and her luggage is missing. The cabbie did it and case solved."I said, knowing I just deduced this woman and narrowed everything down in 7 seconds flat.

They all looked at me dumbfounded as I had a shit eating grin on my face, "What? Have I got something on my face?”

“You just solved this case in 7 seconds when Sherlock does it in 10.” A short, grey haired man said, still looking as if I just killed someone.

“9.5 seconds, and how did you do that?” The curly haired man, Sherlock, said as he still looked at me shockedly.

I shrugged and stood up, brushing off my skirt as I nodded to the 4 men in the room before walking out.

“Oh and Sherlock, I expect a call from you.” I said, winking at him.

“Miss! Wait!” I heard the voice of the shorter man call after me. I stopped, twirling on my heel as I looked at him with a sweet smile.

“What can I do for you…?” I asked.

“John, and would you mind staying for a while? Lestrade would like you to stick around.” John said, smiling at the end.

“Are you sure it isn’t for Sherlock? Because I think he was taking a fancy to me. He did have dilated pupils, increased pulse, and he was getting flustered. So please, inform me, is it for Sherlock?” I said, smirking at the end before walking back up the stairs and back to where Sherlock was still sitting speechless.

“I still haven’t gotten your name!” John yelled up the stairs as I heard his footsteps.

“Y/L/N, Y/N Y/L/N.” I said, squatting next to Sherlock as I looked at him with a slight smirk still plastered on my face. He still was sitting flabbergasted so I did what I thought would surely get his attention, I kissed him. He was still frozen for the first 2 seconds then he started kissing back. Before it could escalate too far John had coughed, signaling for us to save it for later.

“Well I don’t know about you, but I believe Mrs. Y/N has solved the case and you have a cabbie to find.” Sherlock said, grabbing my hand and marching out of the door with me in tow. Once we got to 221B and upstairs lets just say John would have been better off staying somewhere else.

on the new Iron Fist series

So after binge watching a ton of Marvel’s new Iron Fist series, I went onto tumblr, wondering what the fandom was up to now, what with all these new gifs and stuff to make. ‘Maybe I would find some fan art or something’ I thought innocently to myself,

instead, I was greeted with SO MUCH DISCOURSE on how Iron Fist ‘needs a chinese-american actor’ or ‘has terrible dialogue and is slow’.

the best part is when I found out that some of y’all are trying to get this show boycotted like ‘????’

Now as a Chinese-speaking Asian female, living in Asia, with an Asian background and a good know-how of Chinese history, as well as a decent knowledge of comic books, (although I confess I got into the animated series first) I’m here to end the discussion before y’all get your full rage on and start fighting fans of the show like it’s Lord of the Flies up in here

So keep reading if you want to be educated or if you just want to fight me before you know what you’re even talking about

Uhhhh…no? I’ve seen a few episodes and I mean so far there isn’t really anything that screams ‘insult’ or even offensive in the slightest. Besides maybe the fact that they take the beliefs and twist them a little bit but honestly even that ain’t that bad as to what I’ve seen elsewhere.

I’ve read the boycott post and let me say that yea, they dressed him with an eye for Asian elements, but maybe that’s because it’s supposed to be resembling Asian clothing? I mean how is that offensive? Is it the part that it looks Asian? Or that you simply feel that white people that direct these shows should not be using Asian stuff for entertainment? Because I hate to break it to you but it’s still not offensive. Even the dragon tattoo is totally fine because it’s supposed to resemble Asian elements yea but also have y’all read the comics? Because he punched through a dragon and basically took it’s heart. So I mean a dragon tattoo kinda matches the theme.

I mean in the first episode they speak almost flawless Chinese for Pete’s sake! Hell, I was surprised that they even had it in them to have a non-Google translated line. Sure the accent was a little overdoing it cuz not even I have that thick a Chinese accent but I’ll excuse it since he was apparently learning and speaking 15 years. (I speak it maybe a few times a day for like the last 14 years or so only)

So no, the show doesn’t really insult Chinese culture, sure they might be ignorant, but you must understand that after generations of stereotypes and misconceptions that that can’t just go away with one show

“Danny Rand should be played by an Asian guy/be a Chinese-American”

I can’t even begin to tell you my frustration about this.

Y’all do know this show is based on the comics right?

You know, the one with the white guy.

I know Marvel is infamous for not including enough representation in their shows but seriously? This is like the Harry Potter thing all over again with Hermione being black, it’s not that we don’t want representation or anything, but it’s the fact that this hero that us comic fans have come to already love has been replaced. Or at least it feels like it. Like when a movie is made from a book and people go crazy because character XYZ suddenly has different traits or isn’t quite what was described as compared to the book.

Frankly, it sucks.

So even though yes, Marvel should have more Asians in their shows, don’t expect them to completely give the main character a makeover, even if the makeover was supposed to provide representation. And honestly? I don’t want them to change him because I really freaking love Iron Fist, just as he is.

“This show just villainizes Asians”

So you tell me that my race is being made villains because Marvel decided that most of their Asians on their shows are evil ninjas (aka the Hand) and at most there are like 3 sorta good Asians. Oh and I’m sorry, you want more Asian men that are good guys? You want a balance of Asian heroes?

Well I guess that would be kind of hard to fit into the story since, oh, I don’t know, everything happens in the USA?

If you want more Asian characters well then look no further because you do have them. Daisy Johnson from Agents of Shield? What about her extremely brave mom? Or maybe Colleen in Iron Fist? Everyone seems to be blatantly ignoring her badassery and only seeing the part where she’s a sorta love interest.

Facts are, there are Asian characters, you’re really just looking hard enough. I agree wholeheartedly when you say that more Asian men need to be in the Marvel universe that aren’t part of the bad guy team but you gotta say that they are still awesome.

Does anyone even remember the Japanese ninja yakuza guy from Daredevil? Dude got set on fire and STILL came back to kick ass. That’s a plus in my book because even though he’s considered bad, he’s been proven to be cunning, smart, and overall awesome.

“The show has terrible stunts/acting/dialogue/fight scenes”

From here on out it’s mostly just me trying to explain why the directors and writers of the show made decisions in the show to make it what it is, so let’s dive right into it.

Actually the stunts weren’t half-bad. If you’ve seen other shows or movies that are heavily reliant on stunts and action, and compare it to this show, they really aren’t that much different. Sure it might seem a little unbelievable sometimes like they’re breaking physics or something, but he already has a glowing fist. I think we’ve crossed the line of believable long ago.

I have nothing to say about this except that go and take some acting or drama classes before coming and criticizing these awesome men and women who did indeed try their best

Now I get the dialogue might be a little weird at times and what not, but you must understand that this show was partially written with the Defenders series in mind. So almost everything that was said in the show is meant to lead to something more. Thus, you must take it as a bigger picture. Sorta like how everyone said that Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them wasn’t as good as they thought it would be, that movie was also meant to lead on to a bigger story so you might want to excuse the weird speech and cryptic lines at times.

Okay seriously people, please read the comics. Danny Rand is supposed to be an accidental hero, one that doesn’t want to fight unless he really has zero choice in the matter. So yea, the fight scenes won’t be that interesting, but only because the character in question is more interested in ending the fight than anything.

So there you have it, my whole slightly angry info-dump on Iron Fist and Marvel’s representation problem in general. If you want to correct me or scold me even then by all means message me or shoot me an ask. But just keep in mind that Marvel can’t make all your problems go away in one show, and please for the love of all that is good read the comics before coming to rant okay?

A list of good tips:

1. Go vegan! I don’t mean plant-based, I mean full on vegan!! Take time to replace everything you have and use to vegan and cruelty-free because we are animals too! We are NOT better than any other sentient being on this beautiful Earth and do not deserve more freedom and quality of life than they do.

2. Get away from processed junk! Try to eat as fully raw as possible. Whole foods are your best friend and were made to give us exactly all we need. The protein and other crap that society pushes us to think we need from animals is second-hand. The only reason meat has protein is because the animals eat it straight from the source: PLANTS! Processed foods strip away all the good things and replace them with chemicals, fillers, preservatives and poisons.

3. Holistic remedies are your best friend and cheaper than going to a doctor and paying for insurance, co-pays, medications etc. Do you know how many benefits apple cider vinegar has? Do your research.

4. Only drink water and organic juices. Do not drink artificial drinks like soda, gatorade, powdered teas etc. Our bodies are not meant to take all the chemicals in these drinks either. They WILL KILL YOU.

5. Switch your laundry detergent, make up, deodorant, soap, shampoo, lotions, perfumes/colognes, etc. to vegan, cruelty-free, and natural products. Get away from all the garbage being fed to you to keep you sick and slaving. GET AWAY FROM FLOURIDE!!!

6. Meditate. Take time for yourself and clear your head of negativity. Just like you take care of your body by eating clean and being active, you need to take care of your mind and soul.

7. Work your body. Get your muscles moving and keep them happy.

8. Get rest. Sleep is important for energy and to help the body rid you of toxins.

9. Forgive, understand and love. You need to be strong to not let your anger and hate get the best of you. It is negative and hurts the soul and spiritual growth.

10. Learn to cook. Cook most if not all the food going in your mouth. Be in control of what fuels your body.

11. OILS ARE BAD. Olive oil, coconut oil,  sunflower oil, sesame oil, etc. are processed foods. They are fruits, seeds and veggies that have had all the nutritional value taken out and as a result you are left with pure fat. It does nothing but boost your cholesterol. Oil-free cooking is possible and delicious. There are plenty of recipes online you could try.

12. Never take the information you see in the media or from the government at face value. Question everyone and everything. Question me too! I encourage you to fact check the things I say and fact check everything everyone says. Make sure you know the world around you because it is YOUR responsibility to take your safety and life in your own hands. Don’t be sheep!

Why the Term "Sociopath" Shouldn't be Used

Why do I use it?

First, I’d like to address why I still use the term “sociopath.” When making a blog or anything that is bound to attract attention, you want to use words and phrases that the public is already aware of. Furthermore, you want to use terms that are controversial or mysterious, well, at least to the public. That’s the only reason I use the term “sociopath” in my blog’s name. I use it as a buzz word because I know it’s something that attracts more traffic than say, ASPD. Not many members of the general public study personality disorders or even know what they are, and when you come to a blogging site you have to be aware that your margin of the public narrows. So, in other words, if I were to use something too specific, this blog would probably just another name in a million. It all boils down to advertising, and that’s the sole reason I used it.

Now, this isn’t going to be some long winded explanation as to why you shouldn’t use the term. I know that most users on this site have the attention span of a fly and, so, I’ll try to keep this as brief as possible while highlighting the important points.

Why shouldn’t the average person, or anyone for that matter, use the widely known term sociopath?

For starters, the term isn’t recognized in any sort of academic, medical, or psychological literature, and it hasn’t been since the mid to late 1900’s. The term was coined in the 1930’s by a psychiatrist Karl Birnbaum and educational psychologist George E. Partridge. It was originally a alternative to the term psychopath. It only required, if you were to be labeled one, that you showed a persistent violation of social norms, that’s it; in other words, it was psychopathy-lite. Though the term later started to be used, and can still be found to be used, as a synonym for the term psychopathy. Though, again, that’s only by the general public and those who don’t want all the potential confusion/stigma that comes with the term psychopath.

What’s the difference?

Well, even in today’s use, by a small number of academic researchers, it’s still used as psychopathy-lite. The world’s leading expert on psychopathy, Dr. Robert Hare,  uses the term sociopath to refer to those who have a differing sense of right and wrong than the general public, but nothing more. Whereas, when he uses the term psychopath, he’s referring to those who don’t have a sense of empathy/morality. Though it’s important to keep in mind that this is how Dr. Hare uses sociopath. It’s not a universally, or even partly universally defined or used. Think about it, if you ask 10 people to tell you what a sociopath is they’ll all most likely give you a vague answer; and, if you prod them further, they’ll all most likely have similar, but differing definitions. The same could be said for psychopath, sure, but there is a key difference here. The term psychopath is still used in academic literature, well defined, thoroughly studied, classified, and able to be assessed. For example, Dr. Hare invented the psychopathy checklist, or PCL-R, to clinically assess and categorize psychopaths in the criminal justice system; but, this checklist didn’t appear out of thin air. After decades of studying psychopathy, publishing peer-reviewed studies, and establishing the term, the assessment was devised. The most important difference between the two terms here is simple!

Psychopathy is well defined, still used in academic literature and the criminal justice system, frequently assessed (using the PCL-R), under constant development, and has a mountain of evidence to support its use. Sociopath, on the other hand, has none of the above.

TL;DR for the lazy creatures:

Sociopath isn’t an established term, its not used in any academic literature or criminal justice field (unless used as a synonym), and didn’t even originally mean the same thing. There’s no way to assess it, categorize it, diagnose it, treat it, or recognize it. Any and all serious use of the term is dated and long since inaccurate due to new research conducted every day.

Hoe when you're not a hoe

So, there’s a lot y'all don’t know about me. Some things you’re just never gonna no. But let me let you in on this: I am shy as hell, awkward, and this is a post on how to hoe when you’re not a hoe.

Maybe you wanna experiment? Maybe you wanna be a hoe? Maybe you’re ready to hoe but too shy? Maybe you wanna look like a bad bitch? Or maybe you’re a hoe but you’re not but you are but you’re not- either way. I gotchu.

Confidence is key

Of course, the first one I add is on confidence you think. No, but seriously, confidence.

  •  If you don’t have conidence, fake it till you make it. If you pretend like you’re a bad bitch, you will eventually be a bad bitch.
  • Change your walk. yes, your walk. There’s a walk that will not only make you look like a bad bitch, but will make you feel like a bad bitch. Shoulders back, head high (? straight basically) and let your boobs lead the way. You want your arms swinging by your side casually and your hips doing it too, make it look casual. So don’t overdo it.
  • Tell yourself how much you love you every day.
  • Wear clothes that make you feel sexy. For me it’s a variety of things, but put me in skinny jeans, a tank top, adidas and let me put on some highlighter && I’ll be ready for anything.
  • Work  on yourself. Improve constantly. Instead of just being upset about your flaws, write them down and figure outhow to solve them.

Ways to hoe

This all depends and such, but here you go. You may wanna be a sneaky hoe, a cute hoe, a obvious hoe. It doesn’t matter, these should help in some way.  So you can get that ish.

  • Learn the art of seduction. Seducing is a skill. If you want to seduce someone you should learn it. You can find tons of things online, everywhere. There’s sites with ways to seduce, give blow jobs, eat girls out…etc. Learn. Practice your expressions with random people (not forcing them into anything sexually, yall, just lots of eye contact…etc)  but do it in a way that you seem innocent. Gauge their reactions.
  • Sexting. Alright, this is for those that want to feel good sexually. This is for the one’s that are too shy to do anything up close and personal, but want to hoe. Or anyone, tbh. Sexting is a very common thing. If you want to sext, do your research. Don’t show your face…etc. You can always fake your confidence with sexting.
  • Hoeing that isn’t exactly hoeing. Maybe you like the aesthetic but don’t want dick. Maybe you want to wear racy things and flirt, but not fuck. I gotchu. Your goal is to wear something sexy. I mean sexy. Buy lingerie and wear it every chance you get. Mini skirts are your best friend. Flrit with body language, not just words.
  • Be your best. Be confident. If you want to wear makeup, do it. Girl ya highlighter is poppin.
  • Clubs & parties. Do I need to explain this one? Fuck who you want, boo!
  • The other options, are different. I won’t “recommend” them but I also won’t tell you not to do them. I’m not recommending them because of the struggle…etc. I’ve seen off of just this site alone. You could be an escort, a sugar baby, a stripper, a cam girl…etc But if you even consider this shit. Do your fucking research. Be of a legal age. Know what you’re doing before you go into it. And if you do go into it, have fun, baby.

I mean that. Don’t let ANYONE put you down for what you wear, do, or want to do. You do you. You wear what you want, do what you want, and take what you want. If they try to pull some bullshit, show them that you are a queen.

To look like a bad bitch:

Wear what makes you confident. But here’s some things I’ve just noticed as I see a lot of them or something.  In general:

  • Get your eyebrows done
  • Make sure your eyeliner & shadow is matching
  • Highliiigghhhttt, highlight, highlight more highlight yes
  • Matte lips are common
  • So are glossy lips though
  • Chic/baddie/badass clothes
  • Coconut oil ur hair
  • Look at all the clear skin posts yall
  • Shave your legs
  • Smell good
  • Thigh high boot/heels are p common
  • Bbodycon happens a bit
  • But tbh wear what you wanna weat && love yourself

Please remember to be safe doing any of the things. Watch out for allergies when you read hoe tip posts, don’t follow everything you see, carry a self defense weapon, learn some self defense. Get it, boo.

  • Souvent me souviens❞ - Beaufort Family Motto

Late birthday present to one of my favorite Lancastrian women, my Lady the King’s Mother, Lady Margaret Beaufort. She has recently been villainized yet again by TWP and honestly, she gets such terrible representation. She became a mother aged 13 and had to care for her son and his claim in the world of men. Margaret was a victim of the troubling times of the Wars of the Roses. The survival of her son and his title were her main priority and her ambitions for the throne were only grown once Richard III ascended.

Doing Your Own Research

Or, more appropriately titled: Doing Your Own Research, Without Just Looking Up Someone Else’s Correspondence Lists. Because while those lists are very handy to get started or have a shorthand reference, it gives us memorization, stopping just short of real understanding. What’s more, most correspondence lists won’t have your local (overlooked) plant life, or whatever niche plant, rock, animal you need. Sometimes, you have to get your hands dirty and figure it out from scratch.

Anyway so here’s some stuff you can do to aid in that.

 The Science
Look into what it physically is. What family does it belong to? If that weird plant growing in your backyard is closely related to say, basil, it will likely have similar properties. Was that crystal formed under heat and pressure, or is it a sedimentary rock? What does this animal do? How does it live and survive? A lot of correspondences come from this level, and it’s the easiest level to research. Physical traits and fun science facts are all welcome here and fair game to use in magic.

The Folklore
Okay, so we know what the Thing is made of, but let’s look into its relationship with humans. There’s nothing demanding that roses be the Official Love Flower, but rather it’s a collective cultural thing. That has worked itself into magic as well. Are there any stories involving your object of choice? Local superstitions? Home remedies? What does this item get used for in wider culture? For some things, there may not be much here. But for those that do have lore, it’s a valuable resource.

The Vibes
The actual, spiritual sensations you get from holding or touching the Thing. (This is going to apply more to rocks and plants… please don’t go out and touch wild animals.) This will give you some better understanding beyond just what it does, but how it does it. Does the energy seem aggressive? Is it fast or slow moving? Does it give you the impression of being related to a certain element? Which brings us into the next…

The Voice
If you communicate with stuff or spirits at all, this is for you. Just ask the Thing for yourself! “Hello. I am ____. Tell me, what sort of things would you be able to help me with?” Prepare an interview, maybe. This will likely be more specific than “love” or “cleansing,” because they’re giving you a pitch and will know themselves very well. It may be “I help someone realize romantic feelings they already have but don’t know about,” or “I help other cleansing items so that cleansed spaces stay cleaner for longer, but I don’t work by myself.” If you get an answer, record it!

Use the Thing! If you have a general idea of what it does, throw it into the mix for your next relevant spell and see how it changes the result. You can read a lot about something, but the research doesn’t stop when you start using it! As you discover things through repeated use, make note of that as well!

Happy researching!

Some pointers my Prof gave me before I began grad school

Yesterday I visited my university (undergrad) after two years in order to collect documents since I’m moving to grad school. I contacted one of my profs there and asked for advice, as I was nervous about joining research after such a long gap. Here is the advice he gave me:

General tips:

1. Be truthful to your research. Do not copy down somebody else’s work, even if you know you won’t be found out. Trust me on this, being accused of plagiarism is the worst thing to happen to a researcher and if you are exposed later on in career, your entire reputation will go down the drain.

2. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. He screwed up an instrument and waited 6 months before asking one of his subordinate who fixed it in 5 minutes. Imagine the amount of work he could have accomplished in those six months.

3. Manage your time well. Grad school is extremely demanding and some days you may not have time for sleep. Do not put off important work if you have time else you’ll end up doing it all in a hurry and without quality.

4. Every professor/guide/supervisor has her own unique method of teaching. Respect that and try to adapt. Even if you don’t understand most of what they teach, just listen. You might get a fresh perspective on things.

5. Be in touch with your teachers from undergrad etc. and ask them if you get stuck. They might help you out or at least guide you to someone who can.

6. Choose your topic wisely. Study the trends and know what are thrust areas in your field. However, the choice of guide is a major one. Make sure you understand the ways of your supervisor. Ask around, google his papers etc. and make sure he is not someone you’d hate for the entire extent of your school.

Tips related to Science research:

1. Know that there are more than one ways to solve a problem. However you cannot try them all due to time/energy/resources restrictions (or simply because your guide advises you against it). You need to know your limits and try methods that are optimized to your situation.

2. Be like Feynman. He knew his theory but he was a good experimentalist too. Have a balanced approach and know your strengths. If you are experimentalist, interact with theoreticians in order to get an idea of their approach and vice-a-versa. Your goal is to get the result and understand how you got it.

3. You are in research not only to understand a theory/idea but also to apply it. It is not enough to know your books, you need to be able to solve the problem you are tackling. You won’t find a complete solution because nobody has solved it (thats why YOU are working on it, aren’t you?). You need to create/discover the solution.

4. Every problem in science completes a picture/theory. However not all of them receive the limelight. Find a topic you are interested in and know something about rather than chasing a “popular” one that everyone is talking about.

5. The biggest one: Do not feel inadequate for not knowing everything.

Nobody knows everything. You are in grad school to learn too. When you get stuck, get help/ask around; do not let the fear of being inferior get in the way of learning. You have got brains enough to understand things and you can.

6. Do not rely only on teachers/guides. Often your guide/supervisor will not know anything about the problem you are struggling with and will not be able to help you. In those times, find an expert (if there is) or consult books/papers. You should be able to study on your own, without somebody pushing you or deadlines.

Well, this is all I can remember. I hope it is helpful to those of you who are in a similar situation.

i swear to fuck if i see (1) more post in the dream daddy tag about the game grumps being “generally shitty people” because they’re “transmisogynistic” and “racist” i’m gonna pitch myself off the nearest cliff and take my computer with me to make sure that if by some chance i end up not dying from the fall, my access to tumblr will.

i am so sick of this website and its bullshit. this just in everyone, people aren’t allowed to make mistakes and it’s impossible for people to ever change or grow!!

yes, it’s true they’ve both said their fair share of ignorant things in the past. some have hurt and offended people. but i can guarantee you that it was never their intention to do so and in the years since they’ve started the show they’ve both grown a hell of a lot.

the game grumps are so clearly some of the most genuine and sweet people in existence and it’s fucking laughable to say otherwise. if any of y’all actually took the time to do your research and use your critical thinking skills you would see that. any time people let them know that something they’ve said was ignorant, offensive, or hurtful, they acknowledge what they’ve done wrong, and/or ask to learn more on the subject so that they don’t make the same mistake again, and/or apologize.

on the subject of their “transmisogyny”:

and THIS was after an episode came out where they made rape jokes:

as for “racism” i really have no fucking idea where any of you could be coming from with that bs. i acknowledge they’ve said some iffy stuff in the past, but to say they’re racists? come on.

i won’t deny that the game grumps have said some ignorant things over the years. but all that has SIGNIFICANTLY decreased and they really have grown and learned a lot. to say that they’re horrible people for some of the things they’ve said in the past that for the most part have been owned up to and apologized for is awful and wrong. you don’t have to like them or watch their show or anything, but if you’re gonna call someone out for being terrible people then you should at least be sure of what you’re talking about.

anyways substance abuse and addiction is not a cute trope, can’t be cured by the right romantic partner, and is a terrible punchline

real people who deal with addiction deserve to see stories that treat them respectfully and kindly, and don’t trivialize their struggles, their triumphs, or their relationships with the people in their lives

I was asked a very ignorant question today and I wanted to take a moment to say to those certain “feminists” and people who bash my religion and my choices that when you talk to me, please remember:

  • The first University was created by a Muslim Woman named Fatima Al-Fihri
  • One of the main things believers are told to do is gain knowledge
  • Men were first told to lower their gaze before women were advised to cover up
  • When women are with women they have to cover the same areas as when men are with men: the area from your belly button to your knees meaning Islam never actually recognized breasts as sexual organs
  • Women ran businesses, the Prophet’s first wife was a business woman and was fully independent, on the night that the Prophet got the message of Prophet-hood from Allah, the first thing he did was run and ask his wife for council because he valued her advice
  • Islam never condone slavery, the Prophet set many slaves free and advised companions to do the same (when we pray, we all line up no matter the social class or political standing because God doesn’t care if we’re peasants or royalty, what defines us are our actions)
  • same with Hajj, everyone no matter what background wears simple clothes (men wear two white rags) to show how we are all the same (you can’t enter paradise if you have even a grain of arrogance, the more you’re given, the harder you’re tested)
  • Men aren’t pushed away for being feminine (all the Muslim brothers hug each other and the older men usually kiss each other’s cheeks) , tears aren’t considered unmanly, they’re considered humble (many times during prayer, the person leading will start to cry when they make Dua’a (idk how to explain it), it’s not a negative, empathy is positive)
  • Hygiene is so important, we invented toothbrushes and we take basically mini showers before prayers (you CAN’T pray/read Quran if you’re dirty and are advised not to eat smelly things like onions beforehand because that may disrupt your neighbor during prayer)
  • one of the five pillars of Islam is Zakat (defined below), and if you’re ever sick or in need, you normally give Sadaqa or charity to sort of repent and ask God for forgiveness and aid (also, Baqar-Eid, where we sacrifice a Cow or Lamb, etc, we’re only allowed to keep 1/7th of it, the rest goes to people you know and the poor)
  • Ramadan is to help us empathize with poor people and humble ourselves. We give Zakat during Ramadan, which is giving a percentage of our wealth to someone poor, also this seems relevant:  “A believer is not the one who eats his fill when his neighbor is hungry.”
  • Men are the ones responsible for providing food, not the women! If a woman goes out and earns money, it’s hers to do with as she pleases
  • Respect for mothers is so important this is what is said: “Do good to and serve your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then the near relatives and then those who come after them.” (mothers get 3x’s the importance because childbearing/rearing ain’t easy! Also they say your mother holds the key to heaven’s doors. Also that those who raise a good daughter will be given a higher place in Jannah (paradise) and the Prophet was soooooo close to his daughter Fatima)
  • and everyone needs to remember this: ”Those who are kind and considerate to Allah’s creatures, Allah bestows His kindness and affection on them. Show kindness to the creatures on the earth so that Allah may be kind to you.” It doesn’t say be kind to the BELIEVERS, it says be kind to everyone regardless of race, religion, social standing, etc.
  • The main point of covering up your beauty is so that it’s not what defines you, your knowledge and character are. Islam made progression in treating women like actual human beings wayy before the West, the problem isn’t our beliefs, it’s that people don’t act on them choosing instead warped versions that emerged during European occupation during the Victorian Era (where they would cover table legs because they were too hot to handle)

So tell me more about how “oppressed” I am and how horrible and unfair my religion is, because you’re probably wrong and please, PLEASE, do your research because chances are I’m not oppressed and you just seemed like a massive douchecanoe

"You! Can't you see that -- in stooping to your enemy's level -- you're being made over in his image -- that you're becoming the very thing you loathe? " - Captain America #275, Steve Rogers defends neo-Nazi spokesman from being attacked by protestors while making a speech.

Yeah the issue written by dudes who weren’t even born until long after the end of WW2 totally overrides the pretty damn clear stance of Captain America’s co-creator.

I mean, in case we’re skipping over the above link, here’s a helpful quote:

“When the German spy is killed at the end of the origin chapter, Cap nonchalantly remarked, “A fate he well deserved”– no remorse, no questioning.”

How about another?

In the Red Skull’s first appearance, after he is unmasked and defeated, the Skull makes one last desperate attempt at escape and Bucky tries to stop him. While Cap stood motionless, the Skull rolls over on a hypodermic filled with poison and dies. Bucky gets up and looks at Cap incredulously and asks, “But you saw it all–why didn’t you stop him from killing himself?” To which Cap casually replied, “I’m not talking Bucky”

I mean, Jack Kirby really, really hated Nazis. Don’t believe me? How about Stan Sakai?

But sure, Cap would get squeamish at punching Nazis. A+ cherrypicking, have an Iron Cross.
