And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.—Ephesians 6:17
Ephesians 6:17 refers to God’s Word as “the sword of the Spirit.” It is the only piece of offensive weaponry listed with the armor of God. The Word of God is the only weapon that defeats satan. Jesus used it three times against the devil. The devil didn’t stand a chance, and he fled.
Speak the Word daily in any and every situation, especially when the enemy brings fear and doubt in your mind. Don’t believe his lies.
The Word of God in your mouth inflicts damage and annihilates the enemies that rise up against you.
So, sharpen your Sword. Study the Word. Learn to use it and see the victory it brings in your life.

I am in love with somebody who isn't Christian. We are not officially a couple. I see all my old ways in her, but I do remember I was brought to the Lord in the same way with my previous gf. When I feel like walking away, I feel like the Lord is saying don't give up on her. I pray that he does a work in her so we may be equally yoked. Will you help me pray?

Hi there,

Will absolutely pray that she comes to know the Lord and I think it is really cool that you hold such a special place in your heart for her and particularly her potential salvation.

I have been in this situation twice over the years so I totally know where you’re coming from. It is a huge struggle when the person you like doesn’t share the same faith as you especially when your faith is the biggest part of your life and you so desperately want to share it with them and include them in it.

I am currently in the middle of a Relationship Series by Louie Giglio called ‘Boy Meets Girl’ and in one of the sessions he preaches on the topic of dating a non-christian and he specifically talks about dating someone who is ‘so close’ to making the decision. The only hang up with this is that you really need to be careful that she isn’t just in the process of making this decision so she can go out with you (I really don’t know enough about your situation to assume that this is happening, but i will mention it anyway). Everyones salvation should be genuine and authentic because of their love for God and His love for them over anyone else or any potential relationship that may follow. If I was to give you (or anyone else who is in this situation reading this) any advice I would suggest that you take a step back from the ‘not quite but almost’ dating and give her time on her own to make the decision with God and without a great potential relationship being a big factor. Ultimately, anyone in this situation needs to choose God first and not choose him because of a human relationship.

I really think its great that you are so passionate about her salvation though and really admire you for wanting to bring others to our amazing God.

I will be praying for both of you.

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God; but as of sincerity, but as from God, we speak in the sight of God in Christ.

Devotional (1 Corinthians 9:19)

(1 Corinthians 9:19) Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible

Paul basically says here that he is not bound to give any help to anyone. He is free. But he becomes a slave for everyone. He does everything as the slave does, He is not paid for it, but he submits to the work and does it without receiving anything. He does this all to bring people to Christ. We have to be like that, we need to stop thinking about ourselves and start thinking about others. We need to become slaves to Christ and to others so that we can show Christ’s love. What people need to understand is that life is not about them. Life is NOT about me, Life is Not about you, Life is about God. Once we actually understand that life is about God then we wouldn’t care about stupid stuff anymore. We wouldn’t care about spending 10$ more to buy some homeless guy some food, we wouldn’t care about staying up 10 minutes more to talk to someone going through a rough time. We wouldn’t care if someone cut us off in traffic. It’s not about you, you need to get over yourself. I know it’s a hard thing to hear and most people won’t like it but it’s true, we are so self-centered. I pray that we all realize that life is about God, I believe this one thing is destroying people. I talk to so many people that think it’s all about them it’s not at all. Get over yourself and become a slave to Christ and to others.

  • What is one thing you can do to become a salve for someone.
  • Are you living as if life is about you?

Why do you believe in God?

I can’t believe that a human being is a mere product of sticking some atoms together in the correct scientific way. We are way more wonderful and complicated than cold hard science, with our personalities, hopes, fears etc. We each have a soul that carries the essence of who we are.
Once I’d decided that there must be more to life than just we are born, we live, we die, the end, believing in a God who created us and loves us was a natural step for me.

What you say goes, God, and stays, as permanent as the heavens. Your truth never goes out of fashion; it’s as up-to-date as the earth when the sun comes up. Your Word and truth are dependable as ever; that’s what you ordered—you set the earth going. If your revelation hadn’t delighted me so, I would have given up when the hard times came. But I’ll never forget the advice you gave me; you saved my life with those wise words. Save me! I’m all yours. I look high and low for your words of wisdom. The wicked lie in ambush to destroy me, but I’m only concerned with your plans for me. I see the limits to everything human, but the horizons can’t contain your commands!-Psalm 119:93 MSG
