a small yawn left your lips as your head rested on your boyfriends chest, the curtains were drawn closed leaving you in a dimly lit room, the only noise surrounding you was your breathing and the sound of his steady heartbeat by your ear. you and chris had been dating for two months but having time together or even alone was a rarity considering his line of work, not that you minded, you loved spending time with sebastian and anthony as well as visiting his parents. his mothers cooking was to die for and you couldn’t stop yourself from melting whenever you saw how they interacted, it was no secret that he was an absolute mammy’s boy.

Imagine Chris and the Avengers cast talking about you on Jimmy Kimmel.

You settled in your hotel room bed and turned on the television just in time to catch your husband, Chris Evans, and fellow cast members; Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner live on Jimmy Kimmel. You were meant to be at the interview with them but your commitment with your new movie sent you to London instead, and so there you were watching them answer the questions you were suppose to as well about the movie you all had acted in six months ago.

The interview started and the cast took their seats. You smiled at how handsome Chris looked in the outfit you had told him to take with him; everyone else looked great too. Seeing them made you miss their company and you wished you had been able to join them on the couch.

“It is so great to have you guys here tonight,” Jimmy addressed them with a wide grin. “The movie isn’t even out yet and everyone’s already excited to see part two.” The audience cheered their agreements. “Thank you all for coming out. I know all of you are very busy which is why we’re missing a few cast members tonight.”

The cast nodded in acknowledgement of your absence as well as a few others.

“Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, as well as your wife, Y/N,” Jimmy said to Chris and Chris nodded again, this time with a cute pout. “I heard she’s currently in London filming her next movie.”

“Yeah,” Chris chuckled. “She actually left for London like- a week after we wrapped up Infinity War. I headed home to relax and she went on to her next job, it definitely says a lot about our level of demand in the industry.” He joked and you chuckled softly. “No, I’m extremely proud of her. She’s up for an Oscar, did you guys know that?”

“How can we not? You talk about it all day every day,” Robert rolled his eyes as he pretended to be annoyed with Chris. “Even Y/N doesn’t talk about it as much as you do.” The room laughed. “No, seriously though- he talks about it all the time. Doesn’t he, guys?” He asked the cast for confirmation.

“All the time,” Scarlett and Jeremy nodded.

“Even Y/N tells him to shut up about it,” Mark chuckled.

“You’d think he was the one getting nominated,” Chris H added.

“He’s a proud husband,” Jimmy defended Chris.

“Yeah,” Chris laughed, “just leave me be.”

“He’s a lovesick puppy, that’s what he is.” Robert teased, glancing back at Chris. “Ever since the second he laid eyes on Y/N, he’s been head over heels for her.” The cast nodded and Chris blushed deeply, dropping his head. “You should have seen him the first time she walked on to the set, his eyes popped out of his skull and he became a huge blubbering mess.”

You giggled to yourself, remembering the day Robert was talking about. You’d been friends with Robert for quite a while now, having met on the set of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in 2009. He was the one who took you around on your first day at the Marvel Studios and introduced you to everyone, including your husband. Chris was a huge mess the first time he met you, mainly because he was already a fan of your work and you were drop dead gorgeous in a black lace dress; he was a bit of a sucker when it came to lace.

“Yeah, okay,” Chris chuckled, “I’ll admit I was a bit of a mess when I met Y/N.”

“A bit?” Chris H scoffed then chuckled. “We were all embarrassed for you, dude. You’re lucky she’s ridiculously nice and ignored your rambling otherwise you wouldn’t be here with that ring on your finger. You lucked out with her, my man.”

“Oh trust me, I know.” Chris chuckled. “She reminds me everyday.”

He was joking- while you did remind him occasionally, mostly as a joke, sometimes when you were fighting- he didn’t need a reminder when it came to you. He knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you even before the first date.

The two of you clicked pretty much immediately and every day on set became like a scene out of a romantic comedy. It got to a point where Joss had to keep you two apart because you and Chris couldn’t be in the same room without flirting and/or ending up in a fit of giggles.

Your relationship with him progressed with MCU film franchise. You met and started dating on the set of ‘The Avengers’, by 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, you’d moved in with him, he’d proposed during 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron’, and by the time 'Captain America: Civil War’ came around you’d been happily married for almost a year. The end of 'Infinity War: Part 1’ called for your first pregnancy- which the two of you were planning on keeping a secret until the three month mark. And by the end of 'Infinity War: Part 2’, your little miracle would have been born and introduced to the world.

“I know we’re here to talk about the movie but can we just discuss your personal life for a moment?” Jimmy asked Chris. “You and Y/N have been married for a while now, do you think we’re going to see little Captain Americas and little Agent 25s running around anytime soon?”

You pressed your lips together when you saw Chris’ reaction. He looked like he was definitely dying to tell someone but the two of you made a promise and neither of your families knew yet so he kept his mouth shut and let Jeremy made the first comment.

“He’s enough of a child for the both of them,” Jeremy joked. “You should see them out and about, they paint the town red till the break of dawn. It’s no wonder they work together 'cause I don’t think anyone else can keep up with them.”

You laughed, suddenly glad you weren’t there to be teased.

“You two like to party?” Jimmy asked, chuckling.

“Why do you think they don’t have kids yet?” Mark chuckled.

“So they’re the ones you guys call to have fun, Chris and Y/N?”

“Definitely.” Robert nodded. “Those two are absolutely hectic.”

“Mm hm,” the entire cast nodded with all their thumbs pointed at Chris.

“Nooooo, we’re not going to do that!” Chris held his hands up in surrender. “We’re on TV, guys! Our parents are watching this. C'mon, if Y/N sees this she’s going to lose her mind. We promised her no embarrassing stories, so c'mon!”

“If she doesn’t want any embarrassing stories about her then she should settle down,” Robert said. “Hear that, kid?” He addressed you through the camera. “Become a mom and everything embarrassing you’ve ever done is wiped clean off the slate.”

You chuckled and picked up your phone, texting Chris the following words.

Just break the news, babe. We’ll call our families after the interview. I know we said we’d wait but it’s happening so we might as well tell people. I know you’ve been dying to tell them anyway so go ahead, you’ve got my full support. ❤️️

After sending the text, you turned your attention back onto the TV screen. Chris flinched and you knew it was from the buzzing in his pocket. He subtly pulled his attention away from Jimmy and the rest and took his phone out of his pocket to read the text. You saw his smile and you couldn’t help but smile back. He looked up at the screen and winked, knowing you were watching.

“Hey guys, um-” Chris cleared his throat and drew the attention onto himself. “I’ve got something to announce. Y/N and I have been keeping this a secret for a while now and um- she actually just decided it was time we break the news. She just texted me telling me to announce it right here on Jimmy Kimmel.”

“No my God,” Scarlett gasped and turned to Chris a knowing smile. “Is she-”

The rest of the cast turned to Chris with widened eyes and excited smiles, waiting for confirmation.

“Yup,” Chris nodded, smiling. “We’re expecting our first child.” He said and the whole room gasped.

“Wow!” Jimmy clapped. “That is- congratulations, you guys. Y/N,” he looked into the camera. “We wish you could be here with us. Congratulations, you two are going to make wonderful parents.” He said and you smiled.

“No way!” Robert’s jaw dropped, his excited grin visible as he turned from Chris to the camera. “I knew it,” he pointed to the camera and you chuckled. “I’m so proud of you, kid. I can’t wait to meet your little one.”

“Congratulations, man!” Jeremy slapped Chris on the back excitedly.

“Yeah, welcome to the dad clan. You’re one of us now,” Chris H shook his hand, grinning.

“I’m so happy for you guys,” Mark told him, smiling. “You’re both going to make amazing parents.”

“Thanks guys,” Chris grinned. “I’m very excited as well.” He turned his attention back onto the camera, speaking directly to you. “I couldn’t have asked for a better person to experience parenthood with and- I’m ready as long as I’ve got you by my side, sweetheart. I love you and I can’t wait to see you.”

You smiled, feeling your eyes water as you picked up your phone and texted him your response.

I love you and I can’t wait to see you too.

Dear Phillipa Rice,

Thank you for writing and drawing the most personal but the most relatable cartoons in the world. My boyfriend keeps giggling and pointing and saying, “look at this one!! It’s us!!”
He loves it. I love him and he loves me.

Bring the Hammer| Annabelle and Chris H

Annabelle was in her apartment, making sure everything looked sort of neat. The boxes that were still half unpacked were pushed into the spare bedroom so they could at least sit comfortable in the living room. She was wearing little shorts and a spaghetti strap top so she was comfortable at least. As soon as she heard the door go, she wandered over and answered it with a smile. “Hey you, come in,” she greeted.

Warnings: two innuendos, but it’s just an adorable moment with Chris.
Author’s Note: This little story is dedicated to @always-an-evans-addict. I do hope you will like it because I’ve had so much fun writing it, xo. Also, thank you so much to @punkrockhippiefromthefourties for being my beta and for giving me all these tips and suggestions. You saved my life. If this fic is good, it’s thanks of her.

The sun peeked in the bedroom window, illuminating your hair like a fiery halo, and so slowly, you lifted your head from the pillow. Despite your grogginess, you looked out at the beach off in the distance as the sun’s vibrant rays sent a glossy, gold sheen all around the room and the sound of the rhythmic waves of the ocean brought a peaceful hymn to your ears.

Your eyelids closed again, and you rested back against your pillow, feeling Chris’ chest inches away from your body. You enjoyed the restful moment and hummed lightly as you remembered how much you lived for those quiet mornings with your husband by your side.

“Hi, sweetie,” Chris’ sleepy voice spoke behind you. He put a hand on your arm and you lazily turned around. “You look so beautiful in the morning.”

“You aren’t so bad yourself, Dorito,” you complimented, pecking his nose.

“I was actually talking to the sun,” he joked with a jovial smile of his, and you laughed heartily, tipping your head back.

Chris beamed at you, enjoying the melody of your laugh and he took the opportunity to climb on top of you. Yet, as he leaned into the kiss he chased every morning, you turned your head to the side and looked at the beach with this obvious smirk.

“Y/N, I didn’t ask to wake up to nothing.”

“Shut up,” you retorted and restrained your giggle.

“What?” He furrowed his brows, feigning anger, but he couldn’t hold the character.

“Shut up and kiss me.” You turned back to him, cupping his bearded cheek. You closed your eyes, melting when his lips captured yours and claimed them as his proudly.

    “Now, you don’t have ‘nothing’.”

“If I keep talking, can I have another?” Chris asked, raising an eyebrow and smiling.

“Depends on what you tell me,” you giggled as he moved to your ear and whispered a sweet nothing. “I need a shower, first and then breakfast in bed?”

“I’m going to work out quickly and take a shower after you.” He placed a loving peck on your forehead and swung his legs over the edge of the bed.

“It’s Sunday, Chris. You can’t lift weights.” You grabbed his arm and pulled him back with you.

“Of course I can do some push-ups,” he chuckled and you shot up in bed.

“It’s a lazy day. We don’t do anything, but laugh, chill and make out in our case.”

“It’s been a while since our last lazy Sunday. I completely forgot.”

“Oh, man… Poor you,” you faked a sob, wrapping your arms around his chest. “We need to fix this.”

“Uh, can I say hello to Dodger at least?”

That afternoon, you sat on the couch, book in hand with Chris’ head on your lap and he scratched on his sketchbook silently, almost too focused on his art. Your free fingers played with the locks of his light brown hair as he used this quiet time to come back to something he had missed doing.

After a few minutes using his pencil on the page filled with a beautiful depiction of nature, your husband put the sketchbook on the ground. He stretched his body over your lap, brushing your hip with his hand and he poked you lightly, earning your sweet giggle.

“I’ve always thought you were ‘only surprised’.” A mischievous smirk grew on his face as he sat up and turned his head to you. “You’ve always been ticklish, haven’t you?”

“I’m not,” you lied, trying to keep your concentration on the book.

“Oh, really?” He moved closer to you, pressing his body against you. “Because it doesn’t seem like that.”

“No, Chris.” You closed your book and finally met his playful gaze. “I know what you are thinking about, don’t do it.”

“Am I that obvious?” Chris inquired, inching towards you with a new mischievous grin.

“Christopher, we are not children. We are very serious grown people,” you countered, slowly standing from the couch and he scoffed.

“Doesn’t mean I can’t do that.” He enveloped his large hand around your wrist and yanked down. He pounced at you and immediately tickled your sides, reaching certain spots of your body that secretly made you laugh each time he had poked or caressed them with his hands.

You squirmed around before laughing uncontrollably as his fingers dug into your waist, making you laugh even harder. Tears of mirth threatened to spill as well as incomprehensible pleads flew out of your mouth underneath him as he kept torturing you so sweetly.

“CHR- CHRIS NO!” You gasped for air, shrieking. “PLEASE! I- I- CHRIS… CHRIS!”

He laughed as you kept on giggling like a maniac under the work of his fingers and he eventually gave you a break. Like nothing had happened, Chris smirked lightly and let you take this moment to catch your breath, sighing in relief.

You looked up at him with this glare and he leaned his head to the side, lovingly staring at you with this beautiful smile that had you melting instantly.

“This isn’t fair.” You rested on your elbows. “You are too strong.”

“They say that. You seem to like it usually.” He winked and you threw your head back, placing your hands on your forehead as you giggled again.

After leaving you in peace for a brief minute, Chris stared once more at your body with his famous smirk and he leaned in. He placed his hands on your neck and you dissolved into a pile of giggles as he tickled your skin down to your sides without a break.

“PLEASE CHRIS! I- I CAN’T H- HOLD IT” You tried to fight back, failing miserably because of your lack of strength.

“You say you aren’t ticklish, huh, sweetheart?”

Chris accompanied your joyful laugh, trying to hold your squirming figure and you turned your head to the side, seeing the opportunity to free yourself. You managed to grab the cushion next to you, smacking his head with it and he backed away, pretending to be shocked.

“This means war,” he warned with this light chuckle in the background.

    “Pillow fight, Evans!”

You rolled off the couch and ran upstairs to your bedroom with your husband running after you. He slammed the door shut behind him and grabbed his feathery pillow, mimicking your swift movement.

    “Y/N-”

You jumped on the bed, smacking the pillow across his face and you laughed, daring him. Another hit and he didn’t even flinch as he joined you on the mattress. Your pillows used as hammers and shields at the same time, you hit each other and the feathers flying around you blinded your vision whilst you could only hear Chris’ constant giggles as he hit your belly with a new full pillow that spewed its content everywhere.

You threw another pillow at him, but he smashed his fist into it and dropped it down, having your jaw dropping as you looked at the feathers on the bed and everything around covered by a white shin of softness.

Taking advantage, Chris sneaked behind you, folding his strong arms around your waist and he lifted you up, spinning you around. Your head fell backward on his shoulder as you laughed and he kissed your neck, nuzzling his face in the crook.

“Chris! Put me down… I’m- I’m going to throw up if you-”

“All right,” he laughed, the same sound you found so adorable.

Chris eventually let you down after more pleads and you let yourself fall on the mattress, lying down. He joined almost too enthusiastically as the bed collapsed under both your weight and you squealed. You looked at him with wide eyes until you burst out into laughter again, putting a hand on your chest and he mimicked famously.

“That bed was too old anyways,” you gasped, wiping away the tears.

“Yeah, it’s only the third in four months.”

    “We’re filthy.”

“I can’t get enough of your laugh,” he whispered, calming down and he caressed your cheek. “I love you.” His eyes darted from your lips to your eyes, then your mouth again.

“I love you too, honey.” You rolled over to climb on top him and attached your lips sweetly together

“I’ve missed chilling with you.” Chris passed his fingers through your hair and you put your chin on his chest, looking at him.

    “Me, too.”

Chris paced his hotel room from window pane to window pane, gnawing nervously on his thumbnail. His gaze darted to the keycard tightly clenched in his right hand; it unlocked the room three doors down where you laid restlessly on your identical king size bed. It had been a tediously long day for the two of you; the maid of honor and the best man of a wedding with four hundred guests. One might’ve thought the tedious part was the wedding duties you’d been bestowed, but it was actually having to do them with the one you’d recently ended a six year relationship with. It was exactly as you’d expected having to complete ridiculously romantic tasks with someone you’d thought you’d spend the rest of your life with; doleful and utterly gut wrenching.

That was the idea you and Chris had, you’d planned to grow old together in a beautiful house somewhere in Boston where you were both born and raised. It was meant to be easy, he’d promised you easy, and it was easy. Since the beginning, things with him had been effortless. There was no need to try or change because neither felt like the other was short of perfection. The whole relationship had been perfect, then he dawned the role of Captain America and everything changed. In a matter of days, you lost him to his perpetually demanding job. You were proud of him and you did everything to make it work, but it just became too much. His fans, the paparazzi, his constant absence- it overwhelmed you. You would’ve sold your soul to the devil himself if it meant sparing Chris’ life, but that kind of love didn’t change your inability to handle the fame that came with his abundant success.

The breakup was a tragedy the two of you were still trying to heal from. It’d only been six months and it wasn’t like you could take time out to purge the relationship from your systems due to the wedding. Your best friend was getting to married to his best friend, it was hard not to associate with him when he was the best man. Every decision you made with the bride, you had to check in with him and the groom. It helped that his job kept him in South Africa for as long as it did; you managed to get through four months of planning without having to see him face-to-face. It didn’t make things easier, but it helped.

The day of the wedding filled both you and Chris with indescribable amounts of dread. Your heart would start pounding against your chest whenever you heard his name, and his stomach would flip every time he heard yours. There was a common understanding between the two of you that you’d eventually run into each other, but as long as you could avoid it- you tried. You even had it down to a math, counting the seconds so you’d just miss each other. But you couldn’t do that when it came time to walk down the aisle. Your best friend was kind enough to make sure the groomsmen waited by the alter with the groom rather than walk down the aisle with their appointed bridesmaid. There was no way you would’ve made it down the aisle without your heart combusting if you had to walk down holding Chris’ arm.

Chris ran his hand over his beard and groaned loudly in frustration as he kicked the edge of his bed with his barefoot. “Fuck!” He cussed, hobbling around in a circle. The pain that accompanied a toe stub was sometimes blinding, but nothing compared to the pain of seeing the love of your life and knowing you didn’t have a future with them. Chris’ eyes filled with tears as he sat on the edge of his bed. A chuckle escaped him and he managed a wistful smile when he thought about how beautiful you looked in your blush pink gown. He wished he’d spoken to you instead of actively avoiding you. He thought it would’ve been easier on both of you, but he realized after he arrived back in his room that he’d made another huge mistake; the first being letting you go. He had to see you, even if he couldn’t be with you- he had to see you. He rose to his feet and left his room, quietly padding down the corridor to yours.

Outside your door, he paced again with great apprehension. The lights seeping out from under your door told him you were still awake, but he was worried you wouldn’t open up after seeing it was him through the peephole. The last time you’d exchanged actual words unrelated to the wedding was your breakup. You’d told him you loved him before you left with your bags, leaving literally nothing for him to remember you by. You’d wanted a clean breakup because you were familiar with how the two of you worked. You needed to take everything including your shadow because if you’d looked back, you would’ve never left.

You propped yourself up on your elbows when you heard a soft knock on your door. You didn’t need the peephole to know it was Chris on the other side, your heart could tell. The closer you got to the door, the harder your heart started to pound. It was like it never stopped from when you saw him at the wedding, just slowed momentarily. You placed a hand on your chest and closed your eyes, taking a slow, deep breath. You knew it was a bad idea. You wished you had to ability to turn around and climb into bed, but not when the guy was Chris; he left you weak-kneed and nonsensical. “Get it together,” you whispered to yourself then opened your door.

“Uh- h-hey,” Chris stuttered, shocked you’d opened the door. “Sorry, were you-” He didn’t even need to finish his sentence because you knew what he was going to say and had shaken your head as an answer. “I was just- um- I- uh-” He swallowed, wishing he’d practiced what he was going to say to you before he came over. “Do you want to grab a drink?”

If your brain was operative, you would have declined and told him to go to bed. But it wasn’t because it’d been six months and you still missed him dearly. Every morning you’d wake up alone in your bed in your deafeningly quiet apartment; no Chris, no Dodger, and you hated it. You’d cry in the shower and wished for the capacity to endure what his lifestyle meant for yours so you could be with him again. No, it wasn’t a good idea for you to grab a drink with him. You were vulnerable enough without the influence of alcohol, you needed to close the door and go to sleep. You knew all that, yet you responded with “I’d love to.”

At 3:23AM, even the twenty-four hour hotel bar was empty. The environment consisted of four people: you, Chris, the tired bartender, and a dedicated musician. Soft nameless melodies floated from the grand piano to the bar where the two of you sat in silence, staring uncomfortably at your untouched glasses. Chris ordered you a moscato because your favorite drink had been seared into his mind, and for himself he kept it simple with a scotch. His lips curled into a small smile when he heard you quietly humming along to the pianist rendition of Pachelbel’s Canon. Your appreciation for all kind of music from country to classic was something he admired.

    “How are you?”

You were slightly taken aback when he started a conversation, you were sure the night was going to be spent in silence. “I’m okay,” you nodded then took a sip of your wine. He nodded as a response, taking a sip of his scotch. “How are you?” You turned to him and asked, darting your gaze away when he met it.

    “I’m okay,” he responded similarly.

Another silent minute that felt more like a hour ticked by before one of you spoke again. This time it was you who initiated the conversation, though confrontation seemed more appropriate. “Chris,” you worked up the courage to meet and keep his gaze. Your heart wrenched at his wistful smile and you asked, “what are we doing?”

“I don’t know,” he whispered with a shake of his head. “I just know the past six months have been hell without you.” It was instantaneous; both your eyes filled with tears. “I miss you, baby.” He disclosed with a broken voice. “I don’t know how to do this, Y/N. I had a plan- you were my plan. I thought- I shouldn’t have let you go, it was-” He shook his head vigorously as he cried, reaching a hand forward to cup your face. “I am so sorry, I told you it’d be easy.”

“And I told you I’d stand by you,” you sniffled. “I am sorry I walked away, I thought I could handle it but- it was so hard, Chris,” you admitted, starting to sob. He rose to his feet and wrapped you in his arms; you buried your face in his chest. “I miss you so much, I miss Dodger, I miss our home and- I just don’t want to be without you anymore.” Chris’ arms tightened around you and he pressed a kiss on the top of your head. “I don’t want easy, I want you.” The smile he had on his face was genuine for the first time in six months. “I just want you.”

Chris drew back, smiling at you as he took your face in his hands. “I want you too,” he whispered as he dipped his head. His lips touched yours, healing the cracks on your heart that appeared six months ago. Your hands slipped into his soft hair as you kissed him back, moaning softly into his mouth. “I love you,” he repeatedly whispered in-between his tender kisses.

You smiled when you broke the kiss, running the pad of your thumb along his swollen lips. One of your hand that had remained on the back of his neck drew him forward. Your lips brushed his earlobe, making him shudder when you whispered, “so take me back to my room and show me how much.”

Wait For Me? - Chris Evans Imagine

summary: You need a break from it all, but what if when you’re ready to come back, Chris hasn’t waited for you? What if he moved on while waiting for a sign?

    words - 1500+

    warnings: angst (barely) / fluffF

a/n: I felt like this story in my drafts deserved to see the day of light, it may be crap but oh well you win some you lose some.

“I’m not ready yet, Chris. I can’t be with you because I couldn’t fully commit to you, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

Tears ran down my face, as I began to walk away from one of the best men in the world. He was everything I wanted forever in a man, but I couldn’t… I had to find me before I could find us. As I walked away, my hands slipping from his own warm and protective hands. I could feel sobs rise in my throat as I walked away, trying to swallow the sobs until I could scream for hours in my car.

“I’m going to wait,” Chris shouted. Or maybe I had imagined that?

Turning around, I wiped my eyes, sniffled and wrapping my arms around myself for warmth since Chris’s no longer held me tightly. “I’m going to wait,” He repeated, walking towards me and cupped my face in his huge hand that somehow held my head perfectly.

“YN, I will wait. Until you are ready. Whether that’s two weeks or two years. I want you, no one else.” I shook my head, pushing his hands away. I was angry at myself and him for ending up in this mess of heartache.

“No! That’s… not fair to you! I can’t ask you to wait for someone you don’t even know is worth it.” My voice broke and I was backing up, trying to not let Chris touch me. Because if he did, I wouldn’t be able to push away this time. But he came towards me, taking safe steps, with his arms out pleading.

“You may not be done, but I am. And I know what I want, and no one can deter me from it. You are… everything to me, baby. I want to wait for you, and I will. I’m one phone call away, and you know that. You can’t make me give up my love, YN. This is what I want, baby.”

I smiled, shaking my head in the words I heard from his beautiful lips.

“I’m going to New York, I bought a loft,” I whispered, looking up at him innocently. I saw his face perk up from my suddenly uncynical words, “Would you answer my calls even if it was just to talk?”

Chris moved closer to me, taking a hold of my left hand, where a tattoo of a lightning bolt was placed just days ago on the right inside of my middle finger.

“I would answer you, just to hear your voice.” His gentle voice replied, putting his fingers in between mine, intertwining them. Little and big fingers that somehow felt so right together.

“I-I.. um…” I swallowed the lump in my throat, knowing these were our last words.

For now. “You should know one thing before I leave, Chris .” Our eyes pulled up together, coming closer, as I put my right arm around the neck, letting it linger slightly.

“That phone call will come. I promise. I don’t know when, I don’t even know what I’m fucking look for criteria of being able to start another relationship but all I know is that you, are my first call, Chris. I promise Blue Eyes. I swear…” I let the tears slip as I saw his eyes gloss over, spilling tears of his own that I hate to admit I was causing.

“I swear, baby. Pinky swear.” I held out one pinky, my left hand. His left pinky swung and locked with mine. He kissed them and then my forehead.

“Goodnight, lovely. I hear from yo-u soon.”

Chris tried to speak with his most dapper voice but I knew he was dying. The tears still there, residing on his perfectly cold pink-pinched cheeks.

    “Ce est pas la fin.”

We were in August, yet the air was bitter in Boston.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………….

And that was it. Chris and I parted ways, until December the following year.

When the call I was terrified to make finally happened, I was expecting to hear he had moved on. I owed him at least this call, though, regardless of whether he’d given up. This call was never for me, it was always his.

    “Hello?”

“H-Hi, Chris .” My accent was pushing out stronger from my nerves, his name sounded silky smooth even though his name had been turned into a Parisian Keer-is.

“YN? What’s up it’s nine here, aren’t you in London? I saw you on E net..-nothing. I saw you… on twitter, yeah twitter.” I smiled to myself from his nervous chattering in my ear.

He had seen me and cared. It didn’t matter whether it was on a celebrity entertainment show. Chris felt that I was enough to remember.

“Anyway, um, isn’t it like three a.m. over there… are you okay?”

“No, actually. I mean yes, I’m perfectly fine but, it’s not three a.m. over here. Although the weather sure feels like Paris.” Chris chuckled softly, I knew he was rubbing the back of his neck now, stressing out on what to say next.

    “Well, where are you then?”

I knocked on the door, “Hold on, YN. There’s someone at my door. How have you been? Ya know… soul seeking, find yourself. All that good stuff?”

I heard him walk down his stairs, but not through the phone.

“I’ve been great. I got to do some shooting on this new 1940’s movie, I loved it so much! That was really extraordinary. We filmed in Rome, Florence, and Naples, and I swear. Anywhere you stood, the sight was just indescribable…” I had to pause when I heard him get closer to the front door.

My nerves were causing my heart to pulsate faster, and I felt the warmth rise in my cheeks,

    “a-and I think you would’ve loved it, C.”

His shadow showed up at the door and my heart jumped into my throat.

“Are you sure?” Opening the door, he was smiling ear to ear, and I couldn’t help but let out the most girlish giggle and squeak I have ever been able to conjure up. I showed toothy grin that only occurred when my heart can’t take the amount love or happiness I’m feeling.

He still had his phone to his ear and I had my to mine. “Because I really love the view I’m getting right now.”

I let my phone fall without a care and ran to him, even though he only within ten feet of me. We embraced and held each other close. Never wanting to let go of the other for fear that we’d slip away from each other, again.

We were precious to one another, we always had been. Having Chris in my arms was like finally holding the one thing that I’d been missing for sixteen, painfully slow, dull, Chris-less months.

“I missed you so much Chris,” I mumbled, almost letting out a sob from the ache that had finally been lifted from my chest.

“I know, I know. I missed you too, Jellybean.” I kissed his shoulder when I heard the nickname Chris glued to me. One he only ever called me when no one was around. That way it was just between the two of us, forever only our intimate secret.

“Did you give up on me?” Chris shook his head no, smiling into my hair.

“I don’t give up when I’m in love, babe. Ever.”
