People saying Chibs was an asshole to Juice for no reason.
Uh, no no. Club comes first, and Chibs was doing his job.
Juice betrayed the club. Killed a brother. Stole from them. Jax gave him a pardon, and Chibs gave the boy what he deserved. He beat the shit out of him. Then he had to do a bullshit job for Jax, betraying Nero, and Juice tattled on himself. He’s not a precious cinnamon roll. If he had come to Chibs in the beginning back in season 4, he might have had a chance.
Chibs is not all holy innocent either, as in season 2, he nearly got himself in trouble after making almost making a deal with the ATF. He never did, so in Clay’s eyes, no harm was done. But Clay has also made it a point to Juice that everyone has done something to betray the Reaper. But Chibs explained what happened! He didn’t keep any secrets.
I think at one point in time Chibs felt sorry for Juice, and thought he may straighten up, but he didn’t. He lost their trust. I mean, if Jax can’t trust him to keep a club secret, then how could Chibs? This was a kid he once had a lot of love for, and even trusted his girls with. I think Chibs didn’t just feel betrayed in a club sense, but personally, as well.
I think by the time Juice finally got to Chibs, he had had it. Tricked into going, knowing talking to him could get his ass in trouble. He was pissed, and though his words were harsh, he got his point across. You fucked up, betrayed the club, and I can’t trust you or help you anymore. I have my own shit to deal with. You should have ran when you had the chance. Juice didn’t have anywhere to go, and if he did switch MCs, they would find out what he had done. That’s the tragedy of the character. That’s how Juice is supposed to be.
Then Juice does the worst, and tries to give up SAMCRO to the Mayans. Álvarez knows he’s a rat and that the club wants him dead. Doesn’t trust him worth a shit, and gives him back to the Sons so they can take care of him. In order for the story to work, Juice had to stay alive the entire time in order for Jax to discover the truth about Tara, but I see no reason Chibs would ever have had to apologize for being cruel to Juice. Juice ratted. Several times. Betrayed his and the club’s trust. Pulled a lot of stupid moves. I know how hard it is to hate Juice, as he is such a sensitive character with a very calm and nearly nonviolent disposition, but Chibs’ aggression was called for.
“I just think the scene between Charlie and Tommy [Flanagan] over the blood is really indicative of how brutal they took it. And then you got DL, David Labrava, literally sobbing in the back of the van. [Laughs] I don’t think any of that was acting, really.” - ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Mark Boone Junior talks Bobby’s big moment [X]
They didn’t see the video before we actually filmed the scene. We don’t do that because they’re super method actors, but just because we wanted to be filming when they actually saw it for the first time, so they could actually live in their first response to seeing Bobby having his eye gouged out. Tommy Flanagan just broke down, and some of it is in the episode. Sometimes you can’t recreate the authentic reaction that these actors who’ve bonded so closely together, not just as actors but as friends, have. Sometimes you just need to be rolling the cameras. I think what you’re seeing is a large part of the first take, and then we did a reverse where we show Jax walking away, which was done later. So Tommy’s reaction is his reaction to seeing the video for the first time. [X]
