Summer Thunderstorm and Mount Shasta, Siskiyou County, CA by 4 Corners Photo Via Flickr: Thunderstorms form around Mount Shasta on a summer afternoon in Siskiyou County, California. Shasta is the most voluminous stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc.
Sun shines down into the depths of a cathedral-like stand of ancient trees. The
Hackleman Creek Old Growth Trail near Tombstone Pass in the Cascade Range runs
through a fine example of a high elevation old growth douglas fir (pseudostuga menziesii) stand. Some
of the trees are at least 500 years old.
