Today in history: October 28, 1959 - Cuban revolutionary leader Camilo Cienfuegos dies when his plane disappeared over the ocean. He was one of the key leaders of the 1959 Cuban revolution and is honored and celebrated in socialist Cuba.

Fidel Castro and Camilo Cienfuegos arriving in Havana on January 8, 1959, a week after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution. Fidel had been near Santiago de Cuba at the time that former Cuban leader Fulgencio Batista had resigned his office and fled the island on January 1.
