We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive.
Many Westerners think meditation is about having a blank empty mind with no though occurring at all.
They get upset when they can’t achieve an empty thoughtless mind. But actually this is an incorrect understanding of meditation and the wrong goal to aim for.
You’ll never get a blank empty mind, meditation is actually about observation, just watch whatever is going on, witness it without getting involved. Be just a witness without any action or reaction to whatever you witness.
If someone is religious and queer, they’re not a hypocrite. They are valid. There’s nothing wrong whatsoever with believing in and worshiping a God and being gay or trans/nonbinary. I’m not a religious person at all, but just because LGBT is a sin in your God’s eyes, doesn’t mean someone isn’t in a religion. If you’re a gay Christian or trans Christian (other religions too), then you are valid and loved. 🏳️🌈
Our society is dedicated almost entirely to the celebration of ego, with all its sad fantasies about success and power, and it celebrates those very forces of greed and ignorance that are destroying the planet.
Between a kanji and another (those who study japanese at the “L'Orientale” university will understand), I did this; I got inspired by buddhist japanese art and by ukiyo-e pictures. The writing is read as “keshin” and means “avatar” (I hope it is correct).
No, really. I am richer, better looking, drive a better car, have a better job and live in a bigger house.
(With no sarcasm) How wonderful that you have a nice house, job, and car. You are blessed.
Wait! No envy? Aren't you jealous?
No, I feel joy for your good fortune and wish you more of it.
How are you able to be happy for me when I have more than you and am bragging about it?
You see my friend each of us values certain things. The things you have mentioned, the possessions and privileges are not important to me. Love is important to me. Compassion is important to me. Kindness is important to me. When one lives this way then there can be no envy of another's material success.
