A friend let me borrow his medium format camera over the winter, and I was completely clueless about how to use it. I haven’t touched a film camera in a decade, never mind one like this. I Googled how to use it, and after a few ruined rolls of film and some near death experiences (for the camera, not for me), I called it a day.

But, I was determined to figure out a way to use it… I was playing with the viewfinder one snowy day and it dawned on me. I took the camera up to park near my house and mounted it onto my tripod. In snow up to my knees, I was JUST tall enough to properly frame the whole thing.

These people just happened to walk by as the sun came streaming through the trees. They were photography students at a local hipster art college and after I took their picture, they came over to look at the camera. I told them the story about how I ended up there, and they both laughed at me.

"Um, I don’t think that’s going to be very good… That’s not how photography works."

Shows you, chump.
