Birdcage Bottom Books

Are you even Aware how many comics Birdcage Bottom has available for sale and distro?  Cuz I wasn’t, and Birdcage is my partner in distro.  I couldnt fit all the books up in this post what cuz of tumblr restrictions, but LOOK at that collection of books

Yellow Bear & the Shiny Penny is now available from Birdcage Bottom Books and from Retrofit.

This is my first book of prose stories, but it is illustrated throughout.  These were bedtime stories that I told my kids, dozens and dozens of times, until I had them completely worked out… and then I typed ‘em up for YOU!

At bedtime they would often beg “tell a story from your mouth” if they wanted one of these instead of a book.  Anyhow, I thought that was an incredibly charming turn of phrase.

And now it IS a book.

Are you going to be at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda, Maryland this weekend on the dates of September 17 and 18 in the year of twenty-sixteen?

Good. Me also too.

There, at the Small Press Expo of Bethesda, you will be able to see some of the work I have created in the form of sequence art BD comics. But it won’t just be me. No, because there are many, many, many, many, others who also are making pictures stories on paper that your mind moves. In fact, one of them is my family relation Jonah McFadzean. We share overlapping memories.

We will be at table N5.

The above items and more will be available at the Expo Comics Bethesda Show for Comics but not the Stand-Up kind (well, some of us will be standing, but others will sit. Both are acceptable forms of readiness), INCLUDING:

  • Don’t Get Eaten by Anything - A collection of many small comic picture jokes and sadnesses. It was once nominated for a Mouse Ignatz Prize last year.
  • Last Mountains 2 and 3 - A pamphlet that is home to short stories about frightened human children, as well as the first chapter of an ongoing fiction story called Murray Geister: Paranormal Investigator.
  • Irene - an anthology collection of the work of many people from many places. Antarctica too? Yes, kind of.
  • Team Society League Omnibus Vol. 2 - Who makes these comic sequence pictures about wieners and butts and dismemberment? Will getting a copy hold the answer? You can only find out if you of pure of heart.
  • Hollow in the Hollows - a story that I have ambivalent feelings about, but people very much like the cover, and so who am I to stop them or tell them how to feel about things, I mean we’re all just trying to hold on to the happy times with friends and family and loved ones and forget about the fact that everything we love will eventually be ash and dust, so maybe you will like this one, I don’t know, only you can truly know thyself and maybe not even then.
  • More - Other things that Tumblr’s image limit does not allow for. Possibly because the Mores are too good to post here.

It is my hope to see you there so that we might exchange eye contact and mouth sounds that translate into a mutually understood code of sorts.

This now is the end of my statements about this event.
