How do you deal with The negativity in this fandom as of late, because it's astounding. Nothing anyone (the actors, starz, magazine articles) does is ever enough or right. I'm just here for one of the most well produced shows on tv, even when it's not perfect, it's far above the rest. No one seems to be able to say anything nice or positive anymore. It's sad, really, when this production and crew work their asses off, And, at the end of the day. That's really all their job is.
I look at it this way….it would be so much worse if people didn’t care. People get disappointed and can get negative because they love this so much. Not because they hate it.
The cast and crew do work their asses off and they do give us one of the best shows on tv today. And in return, we pay to watch it. That is a fair trade. But that is NOT all their job is. This is the age of SM, of online interactions. This is the time when an engaged fandom is a profit machine. So, their job does not end when they put on their people clothes. PART of it ends then, but by no means all of it.
Studios and networks will have criteria of what, when, and how often show related fan interaction can take place. There will be not just obligations, but also limitations put on the cast and crew. Yes, Sam and Cait have cut almost all Outlander related promotion from their SM. When they do, it is in anticipation of things like the magazine feature today, or awards season approaching. That is new to this year. What else is new is how much/little the other crew is interacting with the fandom. We aren’t getting selfies or tweets about morning pickups. We aren’t getting shots from on location. This is ALL connected. And it all comes from TPTB. This isn’t about fans pissing them off. It isn’t about shippers not being wanted (nice try tho antis). This is about Starz taking control of what info is put out. Why? you ask? LGF and $$$$$$$$$$.
