Battle-of-the-bay

A kiss that (maybe) never was

“I wish the Hound were here. The night of the battle, Sandor Clegane had come to her chambers to take her from the city, but Sansa had refused. Sometimes she lay awake at night, wondering if she’d been wise. She had his stained white cloak hidden in a cedar chest beneath her summer silks. She could not say why she’d kept it. […] She knew the secret of his burned face. It was only the fire he feared. That night, the wildfire had set the river itself ablaze, and filled the very air with green flame. Even in the castle, Sansa had been afraid. Outside… she could scarcely imagine it.” Sansa Stark.

Did the Hound ever kiss Sansa, or did she just imagine it?

I love that quote in Game of Thrones where Salladhor Saan says, “You Westerosi are funny people, A man chops off your fingers and you fall in love with him!” and Davos just laughs and smiles fondly like yeah dude you aren’t being as subtle about it as you think you are, literally everyone know you’re in love with Stannis.

THE LAST JEDI - What we know so far *SPOILERS*

These posts are a breakdown of sorts of what know and have seen from the Last Jedi, through means of trailers, behind the scenes, promotional photos, toys, and leaks. While they showcase a lot, they probably will not and  don’t have everything in them - there’s just so much out there. The posts are also not really meant to meticulously piece the timeline together as a whole, they show things in a general sense, time wise, especially within each part, but not always. There is a lot we don’t know, so it would be impossible to anyway. Some of this stuff is a given, but some of it is speculation based on what we’ve been given.

PART 1 - The Battle/Evacuation of D’Qar.

Above is D’Qar as seen during TFA. D’Qar was home of the Resistance Base during TFA and still is at the beginning of TLJ. This happens presumably during the beginning of the movie.

The Resistance is fleeing D’Qar and the First Order. General Leia is taking up command aboard the Heavy Resistance Cruiser known as the Raddus. Named after Admiral Raddus, the Mon Calamari Admiral who lead the Profundity durning the Battle of Scarif in Rogue One.

The First Order attacking the Raddus and the Resistance.

  • Originally, some were thinking, that the Leia shot wasn’t during the battle because everyone seemed to be too calm, and that it was spliced together for the Official Trailer. But examining it further, shows that it is during the battle, as a First Order TIE Fighter can be seen going past the Raddus’ window.
  • Probably the Strategy Center/War Room of the Raddus
  • Possible Admiral Akbar appearance in the back, behind Leia.
  • Poe Dameron is seen with General Leia, in his X-Wing jumpsuit without the flight vest. Is this before or after he flies in the battle?

An attack happens in a Resistance Hangar Bay, with Tallie in her A-Wing and Poe in front of his X-Wing, who are not yet in battle .

  • Both of them survive, and head off into battle - I say this, because in my mind it with what we know it doesn’t make sense for them to have been in battle, come back to the hangar bay and then got out again, but can’t with their ships being destroyed.
  • Not known if any bad damage occurs to their ships - we know they are still able to fly.
  • *Small chance the explosion isn’t apart of the Battle of D’Qar, and is perhaps before Crait*

Resistance Forces heading towards the First Order forces

“After Poe Dameron’s squadrons destroyed Starkiller Base, the First Order sought out the Resistance headquarters on the planet of D’Qar to enact their revenge. A-wings flew guard around the Resistance fleet and the transports fleeing the base. When three First Order warships emerged from hyperspace to attack, a squadron of A-wings, commanded by Tallie Lintra, assisted Poe Dameron and the Resistance’s assault bombers in taking on an enemy dreadnought.” - IncrediBuilds: Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi: A-wing Deluxe Book and Model Set

  • New Resistance Bomber and A-wings seen for the fist time
  • A-Wings being lead by Tallie Lintra
  • Paige Tico could possible in the guns of one of the bombers, and is definitely leading in one. The children’s book pictured above says “ ..the Resistance bomber squadron, headed by ace pilot Paige.”

FO forces clashing with Resistance Forces

  • The two of the three First Order warships mentioned above are seen.
  • The newResistance Bombers seen getting up close and personal with the FO new toys

Poe Dameron is seen in battle above D’Qar, along with trusted buddy BB-8 helping him.

  • Looks to be one of the first Resistance ships out there, to me the FO head on.
  • Is most likely attacking the First Order Dreadnaught (and therefore it’s very large and deadly Orbital Bombardment Cannons on its underside).
  • New Booster seen attached to the back of Poe’s X-Wing

Kylo Ren has been dispatched into battle.

  • Kylo’s first appearance piloting, and it’s flying his personalized TIE, the TIE Silencer.
  • Seen with what appears to be a batca patch or bandage of some type on top of his still healing scar.
  • Appears to be targeting his mother’s ship…Does he kill his mother? Nope  - She is seen later of Crait.
  • Seen flying into a Resistance ship (probably the Raddus) and is possibly responsible for the Hangar Bay attack mentioned above.

The third First Order warship is seen, and it appears to be none other than Snoke’s own ginormous Star Destroyer.

  • “Snoke, the shadowy leader of the First Order, finally emerges from the shadows to lead the First Order to victory after the destruction of Starkiller Base” - From an Official Japanese Star Wars website.

The battle seems to me like it might end with the Resistance fleeing and a sorta win for the First Order. But how everything goes down exactly is anyone’s guess.

Part 2 - Aboard the Supremacy/With the First Order

Part 3 - Crait

The British engage the French fleet off the coast western coast of France during the Battle of Quiberon Bay, on November 20, 1759. Their stunning victory hamstrung the French navy, one of a string of victories that would give 1759 the epithet “Annus Mirabilis”.

Okay, I feel the need to say this. As a fan of Jamie and Cersei and someone who loves house Lannister, I am so annoyed at all the Dany hate. I’m not even a fan of her, I do find her annoying at times but listen, she was not wrong to burn the lannister soldiers.

Now, they are in the middle of a war, of course Daenerys is going to be killing people, that’s what war is, it’s not a pretty sight. I mean, think of any battle in this series, people die, there’s no way around it. Whether she’s burning them or killing the with arrows and swords, there’s not way for her to win without slaughter, Cersei is not going down easily. Daenerys is trying her best, she listened to Jon and Tyrion, she didn’t burn down King’s Landing, but’s she’s fighting a war and she is loosing. She had to do something so attacking a smaller group of soldiers was meant to scare them, show them what she can do. Keep that in mind.

Why was nobody crying over lannister soldiers during the battle in the Whispering Wood? You remember? When Robb Stark killed a bunch of lannister men during a war? Where was everybody hating on Robb then? I mean, he was doing the same damn thing just without fire.

What about the battle of the Blackwater Bay? Did you hate on Tyrion then? I mean, he was also doing the same thing but I’m pretty sure y’all were praising him. I mean, going by you’re logic, Jon should be getting hate too, how many men has he killed in battle? What about all those poor bolton soldiers that died in the batle of the bastards?

Also, at the people hating on her for using her dragons in a battle because it’s unfair: she’s fighting a fucking war, what do you expect her to do? When you’re fighting people, you show them what you’ve got, you give them you’re best. As for burning down the food and resources, there was no way around that. They were not going to hand it over to her just like that, what did you want her to do? Go in the middle of the battle field and just push a couple of wagons to safety? Dany did what she had to do. She’s been listening to Tyrion, hiding behind on Dragonstone and look where that go her. She’s lost most of her allies because she’s not taking risks whilst Cersei is. Okay, there was no way she could’ve known about Euron showing up at Casterly Rock but my point still stands, that whilst Dany is sitting there doing nothing (because that’s what she’s being told to do) Cersei is over here making allies and winning battles.

I love Cersei, she’s one of the favourites. She’s also one of the most interesting and complex characters, plus Lena is an amazing actress, but calling Dany the ‘mad queen’ for buring soldiers in a battle, whilst Cersei did the exact same thing only it was for pure revenge.. like what? How can you justify one and spit all over the other?

At this this point, Dany will get hate no matter what, and I hate that. I mean, she sits at Dragonstone and does nothing: she’s boring as fuck; she goes into battle and wins: she’s the mad queen. What do you want her to do? Go into a battle and loose? That’s not how war works people.

Oh and for the people saying that Dany is nothing without her dragons: The dragons are not something she randomly came across, they are a part of her, they are her children, it’s like saying what is Bran without being the three eyed raven. It’s not something he did because he was bored like tf

I guess to summarize, I love house Lanniser, I would die for Cersei and Jaime because they are two of my favourite charcters, but all this hate on Daenerys is competely pointless.

Keeper of Beasts

Okay so just a quick preface the inspiration for this came completely from @charminglyantiquated amazing post Elsewhere University. I hope this lives up to the incredible standard of work I’ve already seen.

When she first arrives at Elsewhere Univeristy, no one is particularly sure of what to make of her. She introduces herself as Mara, the gaelic word for the sea, and she seems all too familiar with the rules of the school almost as if they’re second nature. The crows grow fond of her quicker than anyone has seen before cawing greetings at her as she passes and swooping on mass to sit around her feet as she reads them poetry. Woven into the long tresses of her auburn hair are various beads of silver and emerald green glass that jingle and clink together with the rhythm of her movements as she wanders the campus, she’s a vet student with an uncanny ability to charm almost any animal into her favor. The other students aren’t sure if she’s one of the people who Know Things that they’ve heard whispers about that have some sort of agreement with the Gentry or have earned enough favor to be left well enough alone, or if she’s one of those that was taken and came back knowing just a little too much to be allowed to leave. More often than not if you’re looking to find the girl named after the sea the first place you’ll be told to look is the pool. On many a day she’ll be found there sitting with her legs dangling into the deepest end where if you look down the bottom cannot be seen only a deep descent into inky blackness and the odd flashes of strange eyes peering up from the depths. There she will sit singing songs so old they’ve been thought lost to the passages of time in languages that shouldn’t really be known the strange acoustics of the pool causing her voice to echo in eerie harmonies with itself. If you’re lucky or unlucky, I suppose it depends on your opinion of things, you’ll see the head of a creature that looks just enough like a horse despite it’s odd iridescent eyes peering out from the water towards her as it bobs along in an unseen current. It’s not uncommon for her to disappear for days on end only to return with a little more wisdom in her grey eyes and another token of favor adorning her person. The first time it happened she returned with beads woven into her hair that looked like stars had been plucked from the sky and deposited amidst her auburn curls. Now she walks the ground with fingers laiden with rings in odd shapes and sizes, stones no one has ever seen before nestled within them and necklaces of various objects ranging from flowers to delicate jewels strewn around her neck. There is a constant entourage of creatures following her that if caught at certain angles or in certain lights don’t look quite like the black cat that was there a moment ago and something hulking that wanders the shadows at her back. No one is truly surprised when inevitably she disappears and doesn’t return, packets of creamer and money is exchanged hands for several bets were placed on when she would be taken. That was many a moon ago, though no one is quite sure exactly when she did disappear anymore. On nights when the Wild Hunt runs rampant through the grounds it’s said if you listen closely you can hear her haunting voice singing old songs of battle amidst the baying of the hounds and wailing of the horns. She is the Keeper of the Beasts of the Court and though she is fully aware that she herself is kept, she’s never felt so free.

“Suma” (1845/1846 ?), Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1797-1861)

Print from the series “Ukiyo-e parallels for the cloudy chapters of the Tale of Genji”

Tamaori-hime, represented here, is a character appearing in the kabuki play “Ichi-no-tani futaba Gunki”, inspired by the battle which took place at Suma bay in 1184 between the Minamoto and Taira clans. Tamaori is engaged to the young Taira samurai Atsumori, a character appearing in the chronicle “The tale of the Heike” as well as several noh plays. A fighting princess, she is nonetheless killed during the battle by a man who wants to capture her and thus shares the same fate as her beloved.

PROMPT: battles are known to separate loved ones, but you’d be damn if you let that happened.

WARNINGS: cursing, it wouldn’t be a sandor fic if there was no cursing.

The Battle of Blackwater Bay was well underway and by the looks of it, it would be the largest battle in the War of the Five Kings. Stannis Baratheon’s troops against King Joffrey’s forces were causing a massive, hectic situation for everyone in King’s Landing. While the Kingsguard went into battle and the highborn ladies retreated into safety, the common folk ran for their lives as the fighting moved inside.

However, you were the only common folk to run to the battle, not away from it. You were looking for someone. Your frantic eyes searched through the bodies that clashed swords against one another. The shouting and loud noises did not slow you down from your search nor did the fallen bodies. The stacked up bodies that laid unmoving proved to be a perfect stump for you to stand on. It was disrespectful to the dead soldiers but you couldn’t care less. You needed to find him before you left the city for good.

“Get that fucking fire away from me.” You heard a deep gruff voice yell out, making your heard snap towards the voice. Despite all the noise, you could hear his voice as clear as day.

‘Their camp?’ You turned your head towards Ivar, a little confused. The both of you loved to talk battle statistics while looking over the bay Kattegat had. You played with the sand underneath your hands, studying his face.
‘What is more valuable, the princess of a king who you can use as ransom or the kingdom you have taken?’ He asked you right back. You frowned your eyebrows and looked back to the waves crashing over the beach.
‘The princess I suppose.’
‘Precisely. So if I lure that whole army into that kingdom to defeat us while we are already out and heading for the camp I can take the princess, which would give me a lot of gold and silver.’ He tilted his head because he out smarted you again.
‘But you lose your kingdom.’ You pointed out.
‘I can demand a lot in exchange for a princess.’ He whispered mysteriously. You nodded slowly, looking aside you to his satisfying grin, pushing him in the sand because he won again. He chuckled, enjoying the only friend he had, you.
‘Ivar.’ You both turned your heads around to Ubbe. You lingered your eyes shortly on him before looking away, rolling them. You and Ubbe, did you like him … yes, did you show it … no. I some way you worked on each other’s nerves more than Ivar and Sigurd did sometimes.
‘What is it brother?’ Ivar reacted, giving you a short glare. Ubbe stood still, you could see his feet in the corner of your eye but you restrained the urge to look up to him.
‘Y/n, I always ask myself when the both you will marry.’ Ubbe noticed. You turned around and looked up to that smirk laying around his mouth.
‘You should speak, the eldest and still no woman at your side.’ You fired right back. Now was it Ivar his time to roll his eyes as he let his upper body fell on his back in the sand.
‘I’m the prince.’
‘Saying what?’ You reacted. You hated it when he said something like that, that he was the higher one, stood above you. Ivar was the prince of Kattegat to but around you he hardly showed any of that.
‘You should open up that big mouth of yours a little less.’ Ubbe spoke. A part of your temper came from hanging around with Ivar, he had a bad influence on you. You stood up in the sand and turned towards Ubbe.
‘We will see how big that mouth of yours is when I beat you.’
‘Please for the love of the gods.’ Ivar interrupted your starting fight. You and Ubbe looked away from each other and down to Ivar. ‘You’re like little children.’ He mocked. You bited your tongue and looked back up to Ubbe before you turned around and sat back down again.
‘Mother needs you.’ Ubbe only said before walking away. You wrapped your arms around you knees and looked stubborn to the water.
‘You and Ubbe have some issues that need solving.’ Ivar said when Ubbe was out of hearing distance.
‘No we have not.’
‘Come on Y/n, I’m maybe a cripple but not blind.’ Now he pushed you aside. You groaned and got up, stroking the sand of your clothes.
‘Go to your mother.’ You pointed out, walking away over the beach.
‘Yeah, ignore me.’
‘I learned that from you.’ You shouted back, ignoring his words indeed.
