It is one of my AU headcanons that only Sonic Characters could activate the music when on the verge of drowning. Fortunately members of the NakaShima clan are able to hear it, as well as see the countdown.

also i took some liberties in making the dialogue more expressive, also i think it'd be funny that balan (and lance) can't help but speak in rhyme so sometimes they'd have to force it to say things that don't exactly rhyme
