BUT I MUST NOT THINK ABOUT THAT NOW

anonymous asked:

Your art is so soft and pretty... the colors always give off this calm and quiet feeling. It makes me happy... ♡ But honestly, when I look at it the colors feel so soft and stuff !!

I’m gonna continue on my last ask I sent about the colors and looks of your art being soft. Another thing is, people say that when you draw, you put your soul into it, and yours must be beautiful. Apparently mine would be dark, all the time I mostly draw gore or sadness, and once in a while something cute. I want to draw more cute things but what you draw comes from your mood. I did draw a cute one recently. And things are looking up right now. So maybe my art will be less violent. Thank you,

I hope it’s okay if I answer this in one!

This message really made me smile, thank you so much, anon. That makes me really happy.

What you said made me think quite a bit, actually. Because I notice, with a lot of my art, I try to emulate a softer and calmer/serene feeling with it, because it helps me feel good. It’s interesting because a lot of the time, I don’t feel calm or at peace or serene when I draw, and I channel the bad feelings sometimes into my art, but for example, when I’m trying to stave off panic attacks or breakdowns, drawing repetitive patterns or tiny details is a controlled release of distress. But I guess I do sometimes feel unsatisfied with my work because I am a fan of artwork that is dark and raw, open and unhinged. I sometimes feel a bit cowardly that I cannot make this kind of work myself. I think it’s a brave act, putting such raw personal pieces out there, and its very admirable in my eyes.

I think whatever you draw, if you feel anything from it, or get something out of it, is still really good. Art to so many people is an extension of themselves, the good and the bad they experience. I hope that your work will reflect good things in the future - you deserve only the best things to come your way, anon!

Thank you for such a thought-provoking message!

Top books that all ur followers should own? [hard mode: no Marx, [insane mode: no Harvey]]

i can do this i think but it’ll obviously lean heavily toward the history of economic thought so if ur not into that then u might not enjoy these books all that much. but heres just a top 3 in no particular order i guess

  • the worldly philosophers - robert heilbroner (7th edition ideally)
  • in the long run we are all dead - geoff mann (i really love this book so far)
  • moneybags must be so lucky - robert paul wolff (a good pre-capital read)

tbh if you’ve been following me for long you’ve probably seen me mention all 3 of these already multiple times so maybe its not terribly surprising but w/e. these are my non-marx/harvey favs, although now that i think about it i tend to not rly recommend harvey’s books much tbh. hes a better thinker than he is a writer (he can be super boring and repetitive) so sometimes its better to just recommend his videos. marx on the other hand is still essential no matter what

posting this publicly since its directed at all my followers. hope u dont mind

I am outraged. It's such a shame that no one has thought about the song Centuries from Fall Out Boy and drawn Ymir singing the "We'll go down in history" bit while winking at Historia. What a shame, really. This must be fixed inmediately.

OH MY GOD this is my favorite thing ever?? this is genius! i’m crying. someone please draw this!! (˘̩̩◡˘̩ƪ)

One of the most interesting moments in the live action Beauty and the Beast is this scene where Belle asks why the household staff was cursed and now must suffer for the Beast’s actions when they did nothing wrong and Mrs. Potts tells her that when the Beast’s mother died his father turned on him and she implies that he abused the Beast and turned him into the person he was before the curse and Mrs. Potts says something along the lines of “we knew what he was doing to that little boy and we stood by and did nothing” and I just keep thinking about that like we so often absolve adults who know a child is being abused but make excuses and look the other way when they know they could at least try to help and I just thought it was interesting to imply that remaining a bystander instead of taking action to stop a crime can have just as many consequences as committing the crime itself

Please let’s talk about Maggie ‘selflessly looking out for Alex’ Sawyer for a moment please. Now, we know what her coming out was like:

So let’s go back and look at this scenes with this new knowledge of Maggie’s background:

We have her apologizing to Alex, cos she knows from her own experience it’s nobody place to out somebody else.

Imagine how Maggie must have felt, listening to Alex’s coming out, being as much supportive as she can, cos she wants her to have it better than she did.

Here according to new canon, Maggie is lying. Sadly I think when Floriana was shooting this scene, the writers didn’t have the Maggie’s coming out story figured out yet. Cos I believe Flo would act this differently, if she was aware of the fact Maggie is lying at the moment. Her response feels genuine, remembering her parents reaction, it just doesn’t hint in any way that Maggie might be lying, no hint of sadness in her face or voice, nothing. I am a little sad about this, because I believe Flo would act this out very differently if she knew Maggie is lying and why she is doing so.

Maggie is genuinely happy for Alex at this moment and still 100% supportive, bottling up all the feelings she must have had while learning new information about Alex’s coming out.

Again, imagine what Maggie must have felt at this moment. Happy for Alex, but nevertheless hurting inside, remembering her own parents reaction.

And after all of that, all of things Maggie has been through in her life, we got this:

And that is not all. Although she had every right to crumble under all of the emotions bubbling up with the Valentine’s day and with Alex surprising her against her wishes, she realizes she hurt Alex’s feelings with her behavior and apologizes:

Maggie is as selfless person as it gets. Thinking about Alex and her coming out going alright, way before she even realized she might have some feelings for her. Caring for her because she is her friend, wanting her not to suffer in any way as she did with her own coming out. Putting aside her own hurt, old wounds and bad experience, being nothing else than super supportive friend and later a girlfriend.

Maggie Sawyer is a hero to me and I hope Alex feels the same way.

This is the first and, I hope, only, declaration I will have to make about the Pluto Administration.
First, let me present myself. I am Mademoiselle Théa T. N.-P., and I speak in the name of all my collegues of the PA, as the Chief-Administraor of the base. I am the one that will decide of the future of this project, and every action and decision must and will pass on my desk.

I did not expect this blog to be known of so fast, and I principally blame it on Marie-Thérèse G, Roger and Philippe O. my assistant and two underscretaries, that may have been a little too motivated in their desire to promote what was supposed to be a discrete action. Mesures will be taken to avoid a smilar situation in the future.

The PA is an undergoing action founded by the ONU, directed by myself and the French governement, and supported by our long-time allied nations. Even if I cannot fully explain what we are doing now, and why we are doing it, I can assure you our goal is important and worthy of your respect, and could, forever, tip the odds in favor of humankind.

I hope you will not mind the fact i used my very personal blog, full of memes and poor-taste jokes to transmit this message, but, seeing where we currently are based now, and who is listening to us, communication possibilities are sparse and we must take what few opportunities we have.

I ask you to stay calm and composed. Our actions, our decisions, what we make here is important and will have important consequences on everyone futures. Please, think about your actions and the way you speak about us. Think about where you speak about us. The importance of our initiative is making us being closely monitored. Too many leaks could cancel a project that took, to be created, years of sacrifices, and had to pass tests and hardships you litterally cannot imagine.

I ask of you to be responsible, and to think about what you really want for your future.
Is where we are headed now really what you want ? Or do you yearn for something better ?

I hope you will seriously think about it.

Cordially,

Théa T. N.-P., Chief-Administrator of the Pluto Administration.

April 10, 2017 - If I started with Metadora right now, It would look like this:

I always wanted to make Metadora as a comic, but because people in my country hates reading, I chose to do this as an animation, so maybe it will come so far like Underverse is doing.
I must think about adding voices or not, the style of animation and the narrative, something that could be different or unusual … many things to think about.
So I’ll leave this GIF as an evidence, so when the time comes I will see a progress.

We Need To Talk About Ramona Blue:

TO EVERYONE WHO GAVE THIS BOOK ONE STAR WITHOUT READING IT:

First off, know that I am not going away. I am going to stand here and scream this from the rooftops as many times as I have to. Because I am tired of my voice and my story being drowned out. This book tells my story. If I get even one person to at least consider they might be wrong, if even one person buys this book because of me, then I’ve made a difference.

I respect your opinion and based off of the original synopsis I completely understand why you felt that way - indeed I agree with you. I understand why the initial synopsis made you angry, really I do. The b.s. trope that lesbians (or any LGBT+ girl) can be ‘cured’ by finding the right boy is not just offensive and incorrect, but incredibly, incredibly harmful. And when it’s used as much as it is, it leads to people in the real world justifying their homophobic thoughts with - “I can f**k that girl, she’s secretly straight anyway. I can make her change her mind. She just needs the right guy.” Corrective rape is a very real danger and one that is directly impacted by words like those in that synopsis.

But this isn’t what the book is about. When the author, Julie Murphy @andimjulie, was informed of how offensive and harmful the synopsis/blurb was she started arranging to have it changed. Because here’s the thing: authors don’t get to write those. Some random person at the publishing house does. It’s that random person that made the harmful words and who misunderstood the book.

The new synopsis is up on this goodreads page now  . Please read it and maybe consider changing or removing your rating?

Because this book isn’t about 'lesbians can be cured.’ This book is about bisexual girls, girls just like me, who grow up not knowing that they are bi. Believing that because they like girls they must therefore be lesbians or because they like boys they must therefore be straight. I’m the latter; in this heteronormative world I spent years believing I was straight before I realised.

This book is for all the girls like me who think they fit into one box because they like someone and then one day, realise they have feelings for a different gender. It is about how confusing and scary and downright terrifying that is. It is about lying awake all night thinking “but does liking this boy mean i was straight all along?” “do i actually like him or is it because i’m supposed to?” it’s about worrying that you can’t change your identity because people already know you as a 'lesbian.’ Worrying that you’re just attention seeking or greedy or unable to make up your mind, that you’re on the fence and you need to choose.

This book is about the moment of relief when you finally find the name that suits you - bisexual. Or, perhaps when you decide that it’s okay to not know for sure right now. And how much weight is taken off you once you know who you are, and you have an identity.

I haven’t read the book yet but the new revised synopsis reflects that the book will actually be about those topics. You’re punishing the author for what someone else misunderstood and wrote as a harmful piece of promotion. Notice how different (and not harmful) the synopsis is now that it’s been written with the author’s suggestions instead of just by some dude? That to me suggests that the book itself, written entirely by her, will be much more like the new synopsis than the old one.

Oh, and you will also notice that I mentioned I haven’t read the book yet. So how then, you wonder, am I able to sit here and say that the book will be about all of the things above?

Because I am that girl. I went through all of those things. Mine was vice versa to Ramona - I believed that I had to be straight because I liked boys and if you like boys that’s all you can be right? Wrong. It was so, so hard for me to figure out who I am, where my place in this world is. It took me four years to get where I am (I’m 18 now). And I still haven’t finished this journey - my parents don’t know. I know, from reading this new synopsis, that that is what this book is about because I have lived it. I know because the author is bisexual, married to a man - she has lived it too.

Tumblr I just don’t get it. We cry and cry for more representation but when you have it you destroy it’s chances with negative reviews before it’s even begun. All because it’s the “wrong sort” of representation. You don’t want this bi girls story, my true story, because it shows that sometimes girls who like girls also like boys. Not always but sometimes. And sometimes we end up with those boys.

Please, buy this book. Promote this book, please at least undo this low rating until you have read it. This book could have saved me so much heartache when I was fourteen. It could have let me know that I was not alone. It could have saved me six months of self-harm, an emotionally abusive relationship, bullying for being 'frigid.’

I didn’t have this book when I was facing all those things. But the next bi or pan girl could. We could save them.

Representation is important. Lesbian representation and positive, good representation at that, is important. But so is bi girl representation. And this book just happens to be one for the bi girls. This doesn’t have to be either or, bi girls existing doesn’t mean that lesbians do not. Please, let’s not harm each other’s chance at representation. Let’s support each other.

Please, at least let’s read this book before we give it a rating. Please help the next girl like me before she is hurt.

It worries me when people actually believe that Beauty and the Beast is about Stockholm Syndrome and/or abuse. Everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, for sure. But when people start shaming others for enjoying the tale, it becomes a problem.

Let’s break it down:

Beauty and the Beast shows how Stockholm Syndrome works

Actually, Stockholm Syndrome is yet to be recognized as an actual mental disorder, and people who have been part of hostage situations have denied it.

Stockholm Syndrome involves adapting your actions to please a captor when you feel threatened. It is a survival mechanism. In this case, Belle never changes for the Beast, and instead challenges him every time.

But Beast kidnapped and captured Belle in his castle. He is a captor

He didn’t kidnap her. Belle chose to take upon herself a penalty that fell on her father due to his trespassing.

Also, let’s remember that we can’t analyze a film without taking its historical setting into account. The story takes place in a Royal background during the 18th Century,  when the justice system was nothing like ours.

As a result, Royalty -to which the Prince, who is now a Beast, belonged to- dealt with trespassers much differently than we do, as they believed their word to be the law.

Yes, the Beast/the Prince is her captor. But only because he is punishing her for what he considers to be a transgression on her father’s part. Let’s remember: this is a character that lost his kingdom, and the only power he now has, has been reduced to the castle and what exists in it. Growing out of this mentality and what has been wrongly taught to him, is part of his character arc (and it’s also why it makes sense that an Enchantress would want to teach a lesson to a Prince and not someone like Gaston, since the entire kingdom depends on him).

But he’s abusive

The Beast never insults or physically harms Belle. At most, he’s rude and demanding…in 2 scenes. Yes. When people talk about the Beast’s abuse in the animation, only two or three scenes where he’s yelling or smashing furniture are used to support the theory.

However:

1- The scenes (being rude to Belle on the way to her room, demanding Belle dines with him, and throwing her from the West Wing and smashing furniture) occur on the same day. The very same day he’s had to interact with another person for the 1st time in 10 years, after almost becoming a complete animal. There’s pent up anger, for sure. But never again do we see the Beast being either forceful or violent. On the contrary, he learns his way into gaining his human behavior back.

2- In each of the scenes, the animators made careful decisions to show the Beast’s instant regret. When analyzing a film, we can’t forget the visual cues that it gives us.

3-  Belle doesn’t fear him. Even after seeing him easily take on the wolves that attacked her (that is, at his most violent), she confronts him and calls him out on his rudeness. A scared person wouldn’t dare to do so. She’s an immovable force that the Beast doesn’t know how to deal with, not a victim.

4- We can’t choose to forget that the Beast sets her free, which is no small feat for someone who has been brought up in a royal background.

But it glamorizes abusive relationships by making girls believe they can change men

No. Choices made by Linda Woolverton (script) and Howard Ashman (lyrics) focus on Belle and the Beast as outcasts, and forcing her to stay in the castle is a plot device to help the characters get to know each other (and, like I mentioned before, it’s justified by the messed up royal background of the Beast).

It doesn’t ‘glamorize’ an abusive relationship. When the Beast is rude and violent, Belle doesn’t take an interest in him and she actively rejects him. It’s only when the power balance shifts and they treat each other as equals, that the friendship and attraction begin.

The tale is more about outcasts finding solace in each other, than about a woman changing a man to fit her standards. Both Belle and the Beast change in some way. Both must look past each other’s appearance and behavior (both are stubborn and set on their ways) to find what is within. The fact that what is in there pleases them both is what makes the tale great. After all, Belle could have found another Gaston inside the Beast.

But in real life people don’t change for other people”

In real life, people don’t turn into beasts and furniture. There are no curses or enchantments. We’re dealing with a fairy tale that shows us how the world should be, could be or we would want it to be. And if things didn’t work out for the better, there would be no story to tell.

Let’s never forget the striking difference between fiction and reality. And if you’re worried kids will get the wrong message, talk to them. Don’t blame it on the films or the stories.

We can’t and shouldn’t judge a film on account of its validity in real life. In real life, most of us wouldn’t support vigilantism, yet we enjoy films like Batman or The Avengers without a hitch. In real life, we would probably reject terrorism, yet we enjoy Heath Ledger’s Joker (The Dark Knight) and Hugo Weaving’s V (V for Vendetta) despite the fact that both can be labeled as terrorists.

I’ll be writing more about this soon, but for now, I truly hope people will take a closer look at a film before just glancing at the plot and thinking: “oh, this sounds too much like this other thing! It must be the same!”.

Take the time to consider all the elements in a story before letting a Meme or a Tweet define how you see it.

Can I ask why everyone thinks that Azula is Zuko’s little sister?

Because unless it was stated somewhere that Azula is 14 in the show, I’m kind of leaning towards her being older than Zuko. And I do actually have a few reasons for thinking this.

1. It was stated by Ozai in the episode Zuko Alone that Azula was named after her grandfather Azulon

And usually, it is the first born child that is named after a grandparent or parent. And if Zuko was the first born why wouldn’t he be named Azulon? (And I know some of you are thinking, uh duh, because Ozai hated Zuko) But Zuko would have been a newborn baby, there was no way for Ozai to know he would dislike Zuko and thus save the name for his second child. That doesn’t make sense.

2. Now, this might seem off point but stay with me here. So you guys remember Tom-Tom?

Yeah, Mai’s little brother. We know that he is 2 years old, and then later in the show, it is said that Mai is fifteen years older than her brother. Making Mai 17. And I just always assumed that Azula would be around her friend’s age. She is the same size and looks no younger than Mai.

Of course, that is more my opinion than fact, but I still feel that Azula would be close to Mai’s age. And she can’t be sixteen because we all know that Zuko is sixteen, so unless they are twins, that can’t be.

And we do in fact know that Zuko is sixteen because even though that was never said outright, when Zuko confronted his father he said “My father, who challenged me a thirteen-year-old boy, to an Agni Kai,”

And in the first season, while yelling at Zhao, Zuko says, “I’ve been searching for the Avatar for three years now,”

Proving to us that Zuko is sixteen. Meaning that if Azula is older she would have to be at least 17 if not older.

3. Now, this is more my opinion again. But throughout the whole show Azula refers to Zuko as ‘Zuzu’, and I feel like that is something an older sibling would do rather than a younger.

Of course, we’re talking about Azula here. So really she is probably doing this just to get under Zuko’s skin, and to make him feel inferior because we all know she is a huge manipulator.

4. Okay, now this is the one that always had me thinking that Azula was the older sibling. So like I said before we know Zuko was 13 when his father burned and banished him.

This is what Zuko looked like at thirteen. And he does look a lot younger. You can tell this was years ago.

Now, look at Azula in the crowd watching.

She looks almost the exact same. Zuko is clearly younger in this flashback, but Azula looks fully grown, and that was three years ago

And as a kid watching the show, that proved to me that she was the older sibling. And up until recently I still thought that. But now I am seeing all these posts about Azula being a 14yo. Which, is of course freakin awesome, because that means she was that cunning and evil at just 14

But it took away a lot of the aspects of her that made me really fear Azula as a character.

As an older sibling myself, I found it really cruel and scary that Azula would hunt down and try to kill her little brother. (It is horrible whether she is younger or older) but it hit me harder thinking that she was going after a younger sibling rather than an older.

If you are an older sibling than you know even if you don’t get along with your younger sibs, you still feel protective and want them to strive. And so the fact that Azula was always so cruel towards Zuko made her seem more evil to me.

She also always knew how to manipulate and push Zuko’s buttons. And I always felt that for Zuko that would be a scary and uncomfortable thing to deal with. And if Azula is older, then there would be that want to impress her in some ways, and feeling less than her in other ways. Making him even easier to manipulate.

And that was a main part of why I found Azula so evil. Because she should have felt protective towards her brother, but to her, everything was just striving towards power, it showed that she really didn’t have a lot of humanity in her. And I think that point was shown in her breakdown.

And not only did this make Azula seem even crueler as a character to me. But it made Zuko’s choices more clear as well.

If Azula is older, Zuko would still want to impress her. Just like he strived to impress his father. Maybe he didn’t want her love. But he would want her respect. And as a younger sibling, I can see him trying to also achieve this. He would feel that he had more to prove.

And to me, this showed even more character in Zuko when he did leave everything behind. Because he knew that he would be leaving his sister and father behind (not that he cared about their love at this point) but I think that must have been a terrifying thing to do on his part. Because now he will be on the opposite side again. And even if Zuko didn’t think he would be facing his father again, I bet you he knew he would be facing his manipulative sister again.

And it would have been much easier for him to just leave it be, or to even just go hide somewhere where he wouldn’t be found. Because facing Azula again and again would be hard, especially when she knew right where to hit him to make it really hurt.

And that is why the last Agni Kai felt like the final step for Zuko in redeeming himself. (At least for me) Because he was standing up to someone that must have been scary for him to face, he was putting it to an end, and it a way saying ‘I don’t need to bow down or be scared of you’, because at this point Azula probably didn’t seem as scary to Zuko as she had always seemed while growing up.

So Azula being the the older sibling not only made her seem eviler, in my opinion, it made Zuko seem even braver.

So unless proven otherwise, I think I’ll stick to my headcanons.

Raising Princess Leia was probably all kinds of crazy adventures sometimes

“You can’t make me look!” The five year old princess stomped her foot. “He’ll steal my face!”

“Sweetheart, it’s just a painting,” Bail tried not to cringe in front of the Imperial officer. “It’s not going to steal your face, I promise.”

“Your daughter has a problem with our Emperor, Viceroy?” There was an icy undertone in the officer’s voice that warned that a misstep here could prove costly.

“It’s not the Emperor,” Queen Breha gave the man a winning smile and smoothed Leia’s hair. “She’s skittish around portraits in general.”

“The eyes follow me! They’re gonna stick me in a frame too!” Leia protested, understanding even at her age that it was better to play up her childish side.

Breha thought that the Imperial still looked unconvinced, and so with a silent apology to her daughter she added, “She’s also convinced that she has a little brother who was stolen by goblins. We’re still not certain where she picked up that idea.”

The officer nodded with thinly veiled disgust. “Perhaps you should take more care to monitor who your daughter spends time with, Queen Breha.” The pompous man turned on his heel and stalked away to terrorize someone else in the gallery.

The Organas breathed a collective sigh of relief and Bail swept Leia up into his arms.
“Well done, my Leia,” he whispered. “But from now on, you must be careful what you say about the emperor when there are people about.”

Leia tugged at the braiding on his sleeve and frowned. “It’s still ugly, Papa. It’s not a good painting.”

Bail struggled for words. “It’s…an Impressionist piece, I think.”

“What’s that mean?”

“It means that the artist was under the impression that it looked good,” Breha said dryly. Bail stifled a snort, but did not comment to the contrary.

Bidding perfunctory farewells to the host, the Queen and Viceroy slipped out, making excuses of an overtired kindergartener. Mon Mothma had been able to slip a data chip into Bail’s hand in passing and he had no intention of sticking around to be caught with it. As they met with their bodyguards and strapped themselves into the transport, Leia piped up again.

“Goblins are real though. And they do steal babies.”

She took the twitch on her father’s face as evidence that she was right and that the grown-ups just didn’t want to admit it.

smh we’re back to the good old days of s3 again, aren’t we?

people have started to already dehumanize even and make him a villain and become islamophobic and racist because clearly he has a past that involves muslim poc boys from the balloon squad, coupled with the fact that their biphobia is so transparent because even is bi/pan, that their insecure lil ass feels the need to label him as a serial cheater because they think even will cheat on isak causing evak to breakup, and the fetishizers can’t have that happen now, can they? otherwise what else will they wank and jerk off to and fantasize about?

i wanna know why some people feel the need to think in such a narrow minded way that “isak must be protected at all costs from all harm” and wrap him in cotton wool, but “it doesn’t matter if any other character gets hurts idgaf about them”. my buddy, then why are you even watching skam in the first place?

newsflash: skam isn’t all about isak. skam is an ensemble cast show. y'all treat even with such disrespect and disregard him, and have become downright ableist in doing so too, by not giving a single fuck that he has bipolar disorder.

it pisses me off when i read stupid shit like “as long as my isak doesn’t get hurt by even or the balloon squad!”, “as long as even doesn’t get hurt by sana and the balloon squad (notice how they LEAVE OUT isak here … so isak can get hurt by even, but even can’t get hurt by isak? mhmm sure jan!)”, “i will riot if evak break up they need to be together 5eva!!!”.

because? i hate to break it to you son, but, they are gonna get hurt. a lot of people in this are gonna get hurt. it’s disgusting how dimissive people are to anyone else getting hurt though, as long as their white gay ship is all smiles and happy go lucky. y'all can’t stand the other characters, especially when those characters are poc muslims connected to even with a backstory to tell about him and his past (which, around dec 2016/jan 2017 all y'all were THIRSTING over), and how those poc muslim boys, especially mikael and yousef, were hurt and upset just like how even was, by whatever went down.

as long as y'alls agenda of seeing evak pda-ing, seeing them be horny teens, seeing them make out against windowsills, seeing them kissing here and kissing there, is met, y'all are fine. lol, as soon as that agenda isn’t met, and we finally get to see them as individual characters, which they are first and foremost, with a rich history and connections with other people, hmmm, suddenly y'all are feeling “a little bit 👀 uncomfortable 👀”?

lol. this season has bought out all the ugliness these people harbour. you know what y'all are? let me tell you what y'all are:

islamophobic.
racist.
ableist.
biphobic.
fetishizers.

and all y'all can literally gtfo of this fandom tbh. we don’t need y'alls “thirst” and ugliness lurking, anyway.

Just curious if you did a break down of ESNY lyrics. id like to see your take on it.

I haven’t, but howbow now?

A lot of fans think Ever Since New York is about that unholiest of fauxmances, Haylor, since the primary stuntin’ took place in NYC. Listening to the lyrics, I agree with that.

Picture it: NYC, December 2012. 1D is at a career high, having played to a sold out Madison Square Garden crowd. This level of hotness must have smelled like blood in the water to fake ass fame vampire, Taylor Swift and her team. So commence fakelationship stuntin’!

I’ll show you what skeeved me out the most. The hotel ho strolls:

They’d make sure to pap Harry coming and going so that fans would infer that the s-e-x must have surely taken place. Classy. This is how music is marketed. Why God?

Meanwhile, all this fakery was apparently taking a toll on Louis:

And the Elounor awkwardness was later mocked by Grimmy:

And it only got worse from there. By New Year’s Eve, Tay Tay was reveling in this Times Square look-at-me spectacle:

Harry, not so much:

This was the point where 1DHQ really dug in with the closeting. Payzer 2.0 launched December 2012, too. Not a coincidence. This is where reality must have really set in. And this is just based on what we can piece together. God only knows what kinds of conversations took place bts to put all this in place. But I can imagine it was dehumanizing and demoralizing. Aggressive hetero stuntin’ would become the new normal for 1D.

So that’s the kind of stuff that would’ve influenced ESNY. It’s easy to understand why he still feels some type of way about it.

Harry:

Tell me something, tell me something
You don’t know nothing, just pretend you do
I need something, so tell me something new
Choose your words ‘cause there’s no antidote
For this curse or what’s it waiting for
Must desert you just before you go

Harry is my people because he comes out the gate swinging. I’m guessing this first verse is directed at Taylor. Being older and having been in the business longer, Harry is looking to her to make him understand why this needs to happen. He wants her to help him make peace with it. But Taylor is the monster showbiz created. She has no wisdom to offer. So Harry is left grappling with this closeting, which feels like a curse. And “must desert you before you go” feels like a reference to the end of Haylor, where she played the role of good girl who got dumped…again.

There she is alone on a boat…deserted. This is what had to happen before she could go for good. It’s a reference to the fakery–knowing how things will play out before they even happen.

Oh, tell me something I don’t already know
Oh, tell me something I don’t already know

Again, Harry’s desperate for something more profound. I’m sure his team was telling him this was good for him, that it was in his best interests personally and professionally. But Harry isn’t really buying it.

Brooklyn saw me, empty avenues
There’s no water inside this swimming pool
Almost over, that’s enough from you
I’ve been praying, I never did before
Understand I’m talking to the walls
And I’ve been praying ever since New York

Harry was able to venture out into the boroughs, unbothered. But in Manhattan? It was lights, cameras, stunt time! And Haylor is like a empty swimming pool: an artifice without purpose. Just like a pool needs water to fulfill its purpose, a relationship needs a real emotional bond to fulfill its purpose. And of course, there wasn’t one. Harry’s counting the days until Taylor sails her fraudulent ass away on that boat. Enough! Same Harry. Same. These are trying times and Harry’s literally praying his way through it–searching for strength where he hadn’t looked before. That’s how profoundly hurtful this experience is for him And he’s been praying ever since. We know why.

Just think after everything that happened, how Eleanor was treated, how it must have felt to see her ex move on and have a child with another woman, and how different their lives are now. Think about that, and then think about how much abuse she got just for liking his picture. And then look past that to see how she must still think Louis is worth all of that. He’s worth all the drama and trouble from his fame. He is worth facing that pain. Like that is love?????? To have a break from that and know what life is like without the constant abuse, yet to see that Louis is worth it. My heart. I badly worded this. But hell. I’m in pain.

anonymous asked:

How does a team clinch a playoff spot? Does that mean even if they lose their remaining games they'll still make it?

okay, let me explain it on the example of Leafs or/and Capitals, I’m gonna try to make it as simple as possible, for those who don’t know the NHL well yet.

this is the Atlantic Division only; table of it

first three (3) teams of each division (amount of the teams in the divison doesn’t matter– it’s always three) automatically clinch a playoff spot. so let’s edit it.

as you can see, the Leafs are 4th, 3 points behind Bruins. a couple years ago it would end like this, no chance for the Leafs to get to the playoffs, of course if we’re talking about the season ending this soon.

however, we have Wild Card these years and this is where it gets more difficult. it really used to be simplier without it.

here’s Eastern Conference, all these teams except of the Islanders are in playoff position now. they’re also the only eastern teams to be so.

the Wild Card is basically (or almost literally) combination of two (2) best teams of the specific conference that have not enough points to be in top three in their own divisions.

you can see all these teams are mixed, from two different divisions.

kinda tricky thing about this is that there could be 3 teams of Atlantic Division in the playoffs + 5 teams of Metropolitan Division (3 top of the division + 2 Wild Card teams), it literally happened last season, same with the Western Conference where there were only 3 Pacific Division teams in the playoffs. so yes, the Islanders and Bolts are direct, really serious enemies of the Leafs in the run for playoffs though they’re not playing in the same division.

but what if the Leafs end up having the same number of points at the end of the regular season, as the Islanders have? well, then that’s quite easy. or not. I’m gonna explain this on the Caps, which have the same amount of points as the Blue Jackets but are still listed as first in the division.

NHL deals with this following ways.

(let’s say we’re/you’re rooting for the Capitals)

1. the first and most important thing you must look at, is the number of games played. 71 - 71. same. this doesn’t solve the problem, so here comes the next thing you look at.

(if the Jackets played one less game, they would be listed first automatically)

2. you would think the second criterion is number of wins, right? well, not exactly… the W column stands for all wins overall- including shootouts, but that’s not the column we’re thinking about now. we’re looking at this one. ROW.

it literally says Regulation plus Overtime Wins. like I said, W is wins overall, but ROW is only number of games won in regulation time and overtime. as you can see, the Capitals have won 46 games overall this season so far, but 45 of them were won in regulation or overtime. that means they have only 1 game in shootouts this season. so shootouts are really not that important to the NHL.

and as you can see, this number is the same with the two teams. again.

3. third and usually the final criterion is the number of points the Caps have earned in games against the Blue Jackets. so basically, it’s a thing about who has been better in the mini Caps-Jackets series of 4 games this season so far.

the first game of this season the Capitals played against the Blue Jackets ended with regulation win of the Capitals, 3-2, so the score is ‘2 points - 0 points’

the second game they played ended with regulation win of the Capitals, 5-0. ‘4 points - 0 points’

that’s all they have played against each other this season. they’re playing 2 more games against each other until the end of the regular season– since they’re in the same division the number of games playing against each other is 4 per regular season.

so what’s the score in the mini series? 4-0 for the Capitals.

so this is finally the reason why they’re listed first in the battle of division title against the Blue Jackets.

4. but since we’ve come this far, let’s talk about the last criterion anyway. this one is simple. NHL literally describes it as ‘The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.’

now you have to look at these three columns.

the first one, GF, stands for Goals For so the number of all goals they have scored in this season. it includes shootouts goals, where one win in the shootouts = plus one goal. this column is tied, again.

the second one, GA, stands for Goals Against so the number of all pucks they have officialy let get past their goalie’s goaline. you can see that the Capitals have been less time got scored at than the Jackets.

the third one, DIFF, goal differential is always and simply this: GF - GA = DIFF.

so 228 minus 159 is 69, that’s the Capitals’ DIFF; while 228 minus 164 is 64, that’s the Blue Jackets’ DIFF.

(DIFF can be totally below 0, Avalanche’s -96 is the worst DIFF in the NHL currently, while Capitals’ +69 is the best.)

the Capitals have this number higher than the Jackets, so even if they have lost one of the games against the Jackets in regulation (let’s ignore the GF/GA change), and the score in the mini series would be ‘4 points - 4 points’, the Capitals would still be listed first in the division, because of the DIFF.

oohhhh and one thing. what about the x next to the names of the teams?

  • the x next to a team means the team will 100% get to the playoffs, even if they/it lose every single remaining regular season game, even if their divisional opponents win every single remaining regular season game.
  • the y next to a team will soon appear to a team that will 100% end the regular season with the Divisional Title– will 100% end first in its division.
  • the z next to a team will soon appear to a team that will 100% end the regular season with 1st place in its conference.
  • the p next to a team will soon appear to a team that will 100% end the regular season with 1st place in the entire league. there’s an actual trophy for it, called Presidents’ Trophy. the latest winner of it, for the 2015-16 season were the Capitals.

okay, I really enjoyed writing this, more than I expected and I hope the anon, and so you others, find this at least a bit helpful.

I wanna be your man, Mylene. I know you like me. I like you so much, I can’t hardly breathe. I like you so much, I feel like I got thunder and lightning inside of me. You make me nervous. But you also make me calm. Real calm. Calm almost like how God must be calm, you know, Mylene? Calm from loving. I love you. Mylene, I love you. What do you think about that? I don’t mean to be conceited or nothing. You know I’m not like that anyway. But if you see how you’re looking at me right now, that ain’t the look of someone who don’t like someone. So, come on. What do you say? Hm?
