Times to Celebrate

On Sunday the 23rd of September at 3:53 o'clock by middle European time (for me) the summer equinox is happening.

Mabon the second harvest celebration. The grape harvest. The return of persephone to her husband.

Usually set to happen around September 22nd to September 24th.

A celebration to thank the now waning sunlight and the soil for the harvest and the abundance of food.

Offerings of herbs, fruit, alcohols, and fertilizer among others can be given.

It is a time of balance and of joy before winter lays its white wings over everything and the darker but not the more unpleasant time of year begins.

For those of us that aren’t Wiccan or part of a coven, that are atheist or in the broom closet Mabon can be a time of self care.

Drink a cup of tea with honey, or a glass of new-wine/fruit juice.

Bake a fruit something. Apple, peach, pumpkin cobbler, pie, cake…

Make a hearty stew.

Light a golden, yellow, brown, red, orange or whatever color you like candle.

Go outside and soak up some sunshine.

Dance if you like.

Be happy.

Mabon Prayer

Mabon Prayer

We thank you Oh Gods for the abundance of which we have received on this harvest. We are grateful for the lives and relationships that have positively and warmly affected our life this year. We ask that as we journey into the darkness, your light will continue to shine in our lives. When the darkness and cold surround our bodies, we ask that your guidance and love bring warmth to our souls. We thank the earth, wind, and spirits for the bringing of the seasons as we embrace Autumn. In your names we say this prayer. Thank you.

Non- Secular Meditation

For the abundance which we have received this harvest, we are thankful. We are grateful for the lives and relationships that have positively and warmly affected our life this year. As we journey into the darkness, may we find light. As the cold and darkness surround our bodies, may we find love and warmth. We thank the earth, wind, and spirits for the bringing of the seasons as we embrace Autumn. Thank you.

🍁🍂 Blessed Mabon 🍂🍁

here’s a list of some little things you can do to celebrate Mabon and the Autunm Equinox 🍂🍇🍎

🍁 relax and reflect on the year so far

🍁 count your blessings and take a moment to be grateful for everything you achieved or manifested this year

🍁 harvest your herbs or crops and leave small offerings in their place (or in a nearby harvested field if you don’t grow your own)

🍁 adorn yourself in autumn colors, like red, orange, and burgundy

🍁 go for a hike through the woods

🍁 let go of things that no longer serve you to make room for more opportunities

🍁 light some candles, set some intentions, and meditate

🍁 make an altar and some offerings for your deities

🍁 drink wine, tea, or warm apple cider

🍁 eat spice cakes, breads, nuts, and autumn fruits and vegetables

🍁 wear a warm cozy sweater

🍁 clean up your house or sacred space a bit to bring in new energy
