Ashley Wilkes - Libra, Aquarius, Pisces

“It’s a curse - this not wanting to look on naked realities. Until the war, life was never more real to me than a shadow show on a curtain. And I preferred it so. I do not like the outlines of things to be too sharp. I like them gently blurred, a little hazy.”

Top 10 Romance Movies

3. Gone With The Wind

Fiddle Dee Dee I love this movie. It’s one of those classic American tales. The scale it took to make this movie, especially in 1939 (Just the Atlanta fire alone). Vivien Leigh and Clarke Gable both deliver superb performances, and despite the fact that she does some petty shit (see India Wilkes) Scarlett O’Hara is a role model for women. She’s a self made business woman who will do anything to save her family. Everything Scarlett goes through just to get to Ashley, to realize that all along she’s loved Rhett, that’s love. It’s a magnetic story (It was the only book I read all the way through Freshman year) You know it’s a good story when even during the Great Depression, it’s the highest grossing movie of all time (with inflation of course). It’s an epic romance that take off amidst a time of social change. Scarlett and Rhett fight through social scrutiny, the Civil War, a miscarriage, and two dead husbands to be with each other. That’s love.

Gone with the wind (1939) Victor Fleming

“As God is my witness, as God is my witness they’re not going to lick me. I’m going to live through this and when it’s all over, I’ll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I’ll never be hungry again”
