Ashleigh Hutchinson gives BGKI the run down on her ‘daileigh’ style selection…
What inspires you to blog?
It’s a creative outlet for me, my 9-to-5 does not allow much room for me to creatively express myself, my blog is the perfect space for me to do that.
How would you define your personal style?
Eclectic. It’s not about following and keeping up with the latest trends, but choosing what works best for you. I always like to like to add an unexpected touch to my look. I consider myself a little “daring” at times, if a decision makes me nervous, I have to go for it!
Do you find that you follow fashion trends, or do you play by your own rules?
Rules? There are no rules, you create your own style.
Items to get, what are you searching for right now?
platform Mary Janes
the perfect versatile coat that can pretty much work with anything in my closet.
Are there any colors you tend to shy away from, and if so why?
I have all colors in my wardrobe! I love playing with different shades.
When you hear the term “Black Girl Killing It” what comes to mind?
Someone that possesses major confidence and killer style that thinks outside the box with their choice in styling.
As a child were you always into clothes or did you grow into your own fashion sense?
As a little girl I loved playing dress up, I think I was more into being a business woman than into fashion.
Do you participate in your local fashion scene?
Yes, I do now. It’s always fun putting a face to a blog. Nights filled with chatting about balancing out your blogger and work life, taking tons of photos and sipping bubbly, always a guaranteed good time. You’d be surprised at how much you and these other bloggers have in common.
How does your day to day life factor into your wardrobe choices?
It honestly doesn’t, I don’t have a glamorous day job, so when I tend to shop I choose pieces that I could wear both at and outside of work - that way I don’t have a limited wardrobe.
What is your greatest fashion pet peeve?
When someone belts a fitted top, I just don’t understand that.
Have you ever tried your hand at design or sewing?
No, but would like to! I come from a family of women that sew, so it is definitely likely to happen.
Are there any designers that you like to wear or whose clothing stands out with you?
Too many to name, I am really loving Alice + Olivia and the Olsen’s line right now, there are just so many, not a fair question :)
Who are your style icons?
Blake Lively and Rihanna for their daring sense of style, Beyonce because she is always so well put together and Olivia Palermo I love how she plays with prints, something I absolutely love to do.
