In the March issue of Materials World, we write about nanotube-covered titanium that could be used as blood-repellent medical implants. This can be used as clot-resistant surgical implants, described by Dr Arun Kota as ‘the Holy Grail of the medical device industry.’
I’m reminded of a previous demonstration of tuneable superomniphobic surfaces from Kota back in 2014. Again working with titanium, the coating is able to trap certain low surface tension liquids on a variable scale. Also, it looks kinda cool.
This is Baru and Arun
Baru is a quick thinking and calculating treasure hunter. They’re always thinking ahead.
Arun is a hefty loyal creature called an Orasis (Or-ah-sees) that travels with and helps Baru with their endeavors. Together they have been all over the globe
New character sprite spotted! Meet Arun, the first of the side characters. He’s sporty-looking, but there’s more than meets the eye ಠ‿↼
Originally, I planned to introduce Arun later in the story, but as I was reworking the demo, I decided it would be best for him to appear earlier in the game. So, for over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working on his sprite for over the past couple of weeks and finally, it’s done! When trying to come up with these character designs, I try to make the cast as ethnically diverse as possible. For those of you who are interested in tidbits of the game, the ancestry of some of the characters can be traced to (although the art may not reflect it very accurately):
Nicolas - Brazil
Leon - France
Ryan - China
Arun - Pakistan
And for those of you are wondering, OFD is set in contemporary America.
