Thousands gather in Manchester and across the UK to pay tributes to those who lost their lives and the families affected after a terrorist attack after an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester. Many of the victims were children, and the youngest confirmed dead was only 8 years old.

Manchester residents offered homes, rides and blood after attack. Here’s how you can help.

  • In the wake of the attack — Britain’s deadliest since 2005 — volunteers have poured in to donate blood, the New York Times reported.
  • Residents of the city have opened their homes to help victims of the bombing, and taxi drivers have offered free rides
  • Parents wounded in the attack have refused treatment to allow doctors to focus on saving children.
  • The Manchester Evening News has created a crowdfunding page to raise money for the victims of the attack.
  • As of Tuesday afternoon, the page had received more than 475,000 of its 500,000-pound goal. Read more (5/23/17)
I am bored of nationalism and I’m bored of racism. It’s over. Nationalism, religion, all these regressive things, they’re over. We can’t carry on in the way that we’re carrying on…
We’re from Manchester, right, and where we used to hang out, the actual place that we used to hang out, someone put a bomb in there tonight and then killed a bunch of kids, who were going to a fucking show in Manchester.
I don’t need to be educated on fucking anything to say that, that is fucking bullshit and I don’t know what it’s in the name of so I apologize if it’s not in name of religion or nationalism but these are the things that keep happening and I am fucking pissed off about it, and I am sorry.
—  Matthew Healy’s speech

What do I do with these feelings?
These newspaper clippings
These reports, so fucking
statistical
“22 killed, 59 injured”
They don’t add in the words “human lives”
They don’t add in the words “affliction”
22 human lives lost, 59 humans bleeding,
Thousands reeling from trauma
and millions
terrified
that they’re next, another concert
another play, another
place they just wanted to smile

I’m
so fucking sorry
that one idea,
one extremist turned into
teenagers, who were waiting
for their chance to turn this around,
Crying as their best friend
lay unmoving on the ground
in what was supposed to be
the happiest moment
of their finite little 17 years of life

You didn’t deserve this
You deserved
the excitement of your first paycheck
the sorrow of lost love
that vacation in the Maldives you always wanted
You didn’t deserve
to be a liar when you told your mother you’d be home for dinner tomorrow

—  you are more than another incident to add to the list

Ive never felt so gutted in my entire life. I can’t seem to comprehend exactly what has happened. I just want to to send my love to everybody affected by this & to Ariana and the team. I can’t imagine what they are going through. Concerts are events people should never be afraid to attend, they are places for love and complete happiness & i am so sorry that things took an opposite direction last night. I hope i speak for every Artist by saying that we will not stop spreading positivity and love through music no matter the situation.

I don’t understand why people are angry that Ariana canceled her tour?? That poor girl witnessed an explosion in front of her own eyes. At her own concert. She will feel a huge weight of responsibility for the tragedy because all of the victims came to see her. They came because of her. She’ll be sitting there asking herself “Why me? Why my concert? Why of all places and times did they choose my concert?” She will blame herself for leading children to their deaths. This tragedy will affect her mental well-being for the rest of her life. Let me reiterate: She watched people die.

Frankly, I would be highly concerned if she didn’t cancel her tour.

Like your opinion on Ariana’s music is totally irrelevant at this point because people are dead. Not just people but teenaged girls who wanted to go out and have fun. They’re dead because some asshole thought it would be a bright idea to bomb a concert filled with tweens. This isn’t a time to make jokes about Ariana or her music. Show some respect.

ariana is allegedly in hospital because she’s been in hysterics for 15 hours, has allegedly discussed ending her career and is actively blaming herself for all of this and people are angry for her cancelling her tour?? priorities people, please.

people have lost their lives. families have been separated, an 8 year old girl has just been identified as the second victim. ariana’s whole team actively tried to protect people by taking young kids into safe areas- include her own mother.

this isn’t just a small inconvenience. this is a tragedy. think before you react. i’ve got too many people around me thinking about themselves other than those who deserve and need it.

people still do not consider their idols as human and continue to expect ariana to tour when she’s in pain. it’s sickening.
