Antioch PAL Offers After School Skating For Middle School Students

Sponsored by the Leo Fontana Lifetime Achievement Foundation, the Antioch Police Activities League (PAL) is offering a 5-week after school roller skating program is being offered at Paradise Skate.

The program is limited to the first 60 kids who sign up and will run April 15-May 13 on Wednesdays from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

The Antioch Police Activities League (PAL) kicked off its 2015 Jr. Giants Baseball League Saturday June 27 as all the league participates were able to run from third base to home plate in front of friends and family.

This year, more than 600 kids will be able to participate in the league which costs roughly $13,000 to run for six-weeks of baseball.

Councilwoman Mary Rocha thanked the parents who made an effort to make a difference in getting the youth involved in activities. She also thanked the volunteers.

Councilman Tony Tiscareno proclaimed his love of the San Francisco Giants and how this was a great day for Antioch because of all the participation from parents.

“I am in the spirit as I love baseball and love the San Francisco Giants,” said Tiscareno. “This program has been out here for a few years and want to thank the Antioch Police Activities League, the City Recreation Department and all the parents and volunteers. This is a great thing to have. I want everyone to have a great time, you want to win that is one thing, but make sure you have a fun time.”

Antioch Police Chief Allen Cantando thanked his Police Activities League Board and staff for organizing the season.

“The real clapping should be for the parents who are out here because we have a community that is strong, the parents care for their kids and makes our police departments job easier because you come out here and support your kids and those are the kids we are never going to see in the police department and that is a great thing so thank you so much,” said Cantando. “This program is 600 kids strong so thank you.”

Play Ball: Antioch PAL Kicks off 2015 Jr. Giants Baseball Season The Antioch Police Activities League (PAL) kicked off its 2015 Jr. Giants Baseball League Saturday June 27 as all the league participates were able to run from third base to home plate in front of friends and family.

The Friday Sept. 12, the Antioch Police Activities League held their 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds for the organization.  The event was held at the Lone Tree Golf Course and Event Center in Antioch.

All proceeds raised from the event are going towards helping youths in the community to stay active and create positive relationships with mentors and members of the Antioch Police Department.

Antioch’s Police Activities League Baseball League is in full swing as the league has continued to focus on having fun and ensuring sportsmanship during its season. Saturday July 19 was no different as coaches helped young players bat, kids got to run the bases, and self-confidence was built up in the name of “having fun”. Here are some photos from the 10:15 am games.

The Antioch Police Activities League (PAL) baseball league  is full with 630 kids and teamed up  with the  Jr. Giants Baseball League to make the program possible. Keep your eye out for their annual golf tournament fundraiser this fall as they are hoping to raise funds so they do not have to turn away kids next year. The Antioch Police Activities League (PAL) kicked off its 2014 Jr. Giants Baseball League Saturday July 5 as all the league participates were able to run from third base to home plate in front of friends and family.

This year, 630 kids will be able to participate in the league which costs roughly $13,000 to run for six-weeks of baseball. Last year, about 600 kids were able to participate.

The opening ceremonies included comments from Mayor Wade Harper, city council members and Assemblyman Jim Frazier.

Friday night, the Antioch Police Activities League held a special cosmic bowling night event at Delta Bowl for middle school students in the Antioch Unified School District. The event featured bowling, pizza and some time with the Chief.

About 50-kids participated in the two-hour long event who were joined by members of the PAL Board, Councilwoman Monica Wilson and Chief Allan Cantando.

Antioch PAL Invites Middle School Students to Cosmic Bowling

The Antioch Police Activities League is set for a night of bowling on May 9 at Delta Bowl in Antioch from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. The event is FREE for middle school students only (ages 11-15) and is limited to the first 150 kids who sign up. The evening includes show rental, bowling ball rental, lane time, slice of pizza, and a drink.
