SHINee The 9th Anniversary (A Film-Style Edit)

I can’t believe it’s been almost a decade since our shining boys debuted. While any Kpop group’s future is uncertain, I know in my heart that I will always be a Shawol. I’m so proud of the boys for making it this far, and I know they will only continue to shine. Thank you SHINee for always bringing happiness to fans all around the world through music ♥

American Gods Alphabet: Ka

I really love American Gods and mythology so I made an alphabetic list of every reference made in the novel.

Ka (179)

Ka (Egyptian) Essentially the life force within all people. The ka is one of three parts to a person’s soul, along with ba and the akh. Although all people possessed a ka and ba, the presence of the akh was specific to particularly holy individuals. After death, the ka is separated from the body, and commodities placed within tombs of ancient Egypt were left for the deceased person’s ka.

All names/terms are depicted with the page in which they first appear in the American Gods Tenth Anniversary Edition of the author’s preferred text.

Antinous (461)

Antinous (Roman) Lover to Roman Emperor Hadrian, Antinous was known for his extraordinary beauty. He was often compared to Adonis, or a living angel. When the Emperor Hadrian visited Bithnyia in 123 CE, the two fell in love, and Antinous was admitted to the Imperial court. When visiting Egypt in 130 CE, Antinous drowned in the Nile, coincidentally, the same day of the commemoration of Osiris’ drowning in the Nile. Hadrian’s grief caused him to deify Antinous, and the young man quickly became the object of a new cult. However, this cult and the god Antinous often came into conflict with Christianity, and as a result Christianity will condemn his relationship with Hadrian as immoral and cast off any acceptance of homosexuality.

All names/terms are depicted with the page in which they first appear in the American Gods Tenth Anniversary Edition of the author’s preferred text.

“Another reason why you don’t want to be anyone except Rose Hathaway, huh?”

I sat down on a bench and folded my hands in my lap as I looked away. “I know I said that… but sometimes… Well. Sometimes, I wish I could steal another identity. Someone who isn’t guarding the same Moroi who… who other people are guarding.”

Dimitri stayed silent for a long time- so much so that I finally had to glance over at him, despite my self-consciousness…

“Someone like that… would make a few things easier,” he said at last, his voice low. Strained. “But someone like that wouldn’t be Rose Hathaway. And I’d rather live in a much more complicated world than in one where she wasn’t around.”

The Killing Joke original 1988 coloring vs. 2008 recoloring

Cover and panel artist Brian Bolland was reportedly displeased with colorist John Higgins’ work on the 1988 graphic novel:

Bolland envisaged the flashback sequences in black and white, and instructed Watchmen-colorist John Higgins to use “muted November colors”. He was upset when he saw the finished comic had “garish … hideous glowing purples and pinks … and my precious Eraserhead-esque flashback sequences swamped in orange.”

In 2008 DC Comics released a 20th anniversary edition of The Killing Joke featuring a complete recoloring by Bolland. Bolland made various alterations to restore his artistic intent, including replacing Higgins’ bright flashback panels with muted tones (save for items colored for emphasis, such as the Red Hood and Joker’s green hair) and removing the yellow oval from the Batsuit.
