Andy Biersack: Black Veil Brides Have ‘Nine or Ten Songs Completed’ For New Album

In December of last year, we reported that Black Veil Brides had begun pre-production work on their followup to their eponymous 2014 record. Singer Andy Biersack, who released an album of his own earlier this year, recently gave an update on Black Veil Brides’ progress, revealing they have “nine or 10 songs completed that are currently in the mixing process.”

The frontman broke the news while speaking with Alternative Press, adding, “I don’t think we’ll go too much further; it’s been a process of shedding down to this point. Rather than record 100 songs we didn’t like, we were really able to strip away the stuff that didn’t seem as strong.”

Getting into his contributions, Biersack offered, “It feels like the story I want to tell will be done in the 10 or 11 songs in this record. I can’t tell you how great it is seeing how much Jake [Pitts, guitar] and Jinxx [guitar] have grown as players and songwriters. The future is so bright.”

He also expanded on the aforementioned story, admitting “there’s certainly a concept to the record, but I don’t know that it is a ‘concept record.’ The songs tie together for a full story I will eventually talk about, but not right now. I don’t think I’m ready to yet. The only place it exists is in a notebook where I’ve written everything out. And I sent a text message to Feldy [presumably producer John Feldman] with it. [Laughs.] Until I have it definitively down, it’s not worth sharing yet.”

In May, Biersack released his first solo record, The Shadow Side, under the moniker Andy Black. The album peaked at No. 22 on the Billboard 200 and a music videos were made for the songs “We Don’t Have to Dance” and “Ribcage.”
