After-the-Raid

anonymous asked:

Do you think Ayato changed that much because he thought Touka dead after the Anteiku raid?

I don’t know that Ayato thought Touka dead… I think he knew she was alive. Growing to care for Hinami was probably a big factor in his change.

WWII Gay G.I.s recounts tale of losing their Lovers

Excerpt from the book Coming out under fire The history of gay Men and Women in World War Two: Combat soldiers often responded to each other’s personal losses with the deepest respect and understanding, allowing gay GIs to express openly their grief over the death of boyfriends or lovers.

Jim Warren’s boyfriend was hit while trying to knock out a machine-gun nest on Saipan. “They brought him back,” Warren recalled, “and he was at the point of death. He was bleeding. He had been hit about three or four times. I stood there and he looked up at me and I looked down at him and he said, ‘Well, Jim, we didn’t make it, did we.’ And tears were just rolling down my cheeks. I don’t know when I’ve ever felt such a lump and such a waste. And he kind of gave me a boyish crooked grin and just said, ‘Well, maybe next time.’ And I said, ‘I’m going to miss you. And I’ll see your mother.’ There were people standing around, maybe seven or eight people standing there, and I was there touching his hand and we were talking. Somebody said later, ‘You were pretty good friends,’ because I had been openly crying and most people don’t do this. I said, ‘Yes, we were quite good friends.’ And nobody ever said anything. I guess as long as I supposedly upheld my end of the bargain, everything was all right.”

Ben Small was even less able to control himself when his boyfriend was killed in the Philippines. But he, too, was surprised by the other men’s compassion towards him. “We had a funny freak attack of a Japanese kamikaze plane,” he recalled, “and I guess he was getting rid of his last load of these baby cutter bomb, these little bombs that explode at about three feet high so if they went off through a tent they exploded at bed level. I had just been in the tent of a guy I had been going with at the time. He crawled into bed, and I said goodnight and walked out the tent. And this plane came overhead and all we heard was explosions and we fell to the ground. When I got up too see if he was all right, the trust of the bomb had gone through his tent and he was not there. I went into a three-day period of hysterics. I was treated with such kindness by the guys that I worked with, who were all totally aware of why I had gone hysterical. It wasn’t because we were bombed. It was because my boyfriend had been killed. And one guy in the tent came up to me and said, ‘Why didn’t you tell me you were gay? You could have talked to me.’ I said, ‘Well, I was afraid to.’ This big straight, macho guy. There was a sort of compassion then.”

After a raid in the Philippines, Ben Small remembered, a lieutenant who had been injured was being shipped back to the States, so the men “all went to the plane to see him off that night. It was an amazingly touching moment, when he and his lover said goodbye, because they embraced and kissed in front of all these straight guys and everyone dealt with it so well. I think it was just this basic thing about separation of someone you cared for, regardless of sex.” Small described this tender parting as “a little distilled moment out of time” when men’s “prejudices were suspended” and gay soldiers “could be a part of what this meant.”

What if Lucius had died in the first war?

There seems to be a general consensus that Draco got most of his poor traits from his father and most of his good traits from his mother. So I wonder, what would have happened had Lucius been killed in the prior to 1981 and Draco had been raised solely by Narcissa?

Narcissa is fiercely loyal, especially towards her family, especially towards her son. She would (and does!) protect him at all costs as we see in both HBP and DH. So imagine how she would have reacted had she not had the (sometimes conflicting) loyalty to her husband or at least no reason to follow his idol.

Because had Lucius died in the first war, killed in action in a raid or something, the Dark Lord would have most likely brushed his sacrifice off saying something like he was not strong enough. After her husband’s death and that disrespect, Narcissa would most definitely have turned on the Dark Lord. Even if she still hated muggleborns, even if she still believed in pureblood supremacy, you can bet that she would be against the Dark Lord. When Bellatrix’s ideals were a threat to Draco’s life, Narcissa threatened her right back and hexed her for being in the way. If she would turn on family, just think what she would do to the man who took her husband away from her.

She would have gone straight to the Order of the Phoenix, plying her way with all the information she had learned from Lucius, all the tidbits she had overheard while eavesdropping in her own home. Imagine Sirius’ shock when he walks into the Order meeting and finds he ex-cousin (re-cousin?) sitting primly on Dumbledore’s right hand bouncing baby Draco on her knee, the Black mask of indifference firmly set on her face. That meeting runs long. Narcissa has more information about the Death Eaters organization than the Dark Lord ever intended anyone to have, especially an unMarked woman. Safe houses, hierarchies, inner circle members, spies, double agents, dark creatures who have been bullied or enticed into fighting, corrupted Ministry employees, intended targets, she tells them everything. But only after acquiring the vow of every single person in the room that they will protect her and Draco. She forces Dumbledore to make an Unbreakable Vow.

She had skillfully rid the Manor of the Dark Lord–an apparently weak woman, openly mourning her husband is poor company–but she still knows well enough to act meek when Death Eaters come by the Manor. They continue to drop hints at tea, make pointed insinuations at dinners and introduce her to the ‘particular friends’ at the occasional ball she deigns to attend. Through this, she maintains the Order’s dependence on her, feeding them each bit of information she gets; new targets (the Potters go into hiding), new members (Wormtail is outed before he has opportunity to do harm), relocated safe houses (after the the Hogsmeade location raid student recruitment for the Death Eaters dropped dramatically).

Regulus comes to the Manor one afternoon on the pretense of a family dinner and tells her that he knows she is the one feeding the Order information. She has her wand digging into his throat before he can say “Bludger”. Instead of threatening her, he begs her to take him with her; he has crucial information about how to defeat the Dark Lord. At the next meeting, Sirius walks in and chokes on air when he sees his brother sitting on Narcissa’s right playing peek-a-boo with Draco.

Draco and Harry are not enemies at Hogwarts. They meet as toddlers at Sirius’ post war celebration. Narcissa allows the friendship because while Lily might be a muggleborn, she was also instrumental in the Dark Lord’s death and besides, James is a pureblood, even if his line has always been rather liberal. Harry isn’t scared off when the Sorting Hat tells him that he would do well in Slytherin because even though Ron said, “there’s not a witch or wizard that went bad that wasn’t in Slytherin,” Harry knows that Reg and Cissy (”Regulus and Narcissa, Harry, please. I don’t care what Sirius says, he’s an idiot!”) were in Slytherin House and they’re both heros. Draco isn’t surrounded by poisonous frienemies or bulking lackeys because his longtime friend Harry is there with him and when some of the other Slytherins prove less than kind, Harry and Draco leave them in the dirt (quite literally, maybe Uncle Moony shouldn’t have taught them that spell so young) and find worthy friends from other houses. The Dark Lord doesn’t return, most everyone lives and all because Narcissa does revenge better than anyone.

In which our Sorcerer is an actual Disney Princess

Every Animal Handling check that had ever been made in game is usually made by our Ranger (rightfully so) and usually starts off… not so great. Enter our half-elf Sorcerer, who has somehow managed to succeed on every single animal handling check. So far she has tamed all sorts of creatures, like aggressive wolves, the animals in our party, owl bears, and most recently, a baby ettercap.

After a cave raid filled with lots of spiders and a family of ettercaps, various people try to appease the only ettercap left. All manage to do enough to calm the thing down and feed it but not touch it.

Sorcerer Player: (jokingly) “Should I use my Disney Princess powers?”

GM: “If you want!”

Sorcerer: (rolls a total of 22)

GM: “It crawls right into your arms and you’re holding it like a baby.”

Sorcerer: “Disney Princess Powers strike again!”

Ranger: (mesmerized)

Midoriya and his many parents

Not a Dream Daddy post.

I’ve mentioned this briefly in Aizawa’s profile, but BnHA is just chock full of father figures. There’s a big emphasis on mentors and fatherhood, more so than in a lot of other manga and anime I follow.
Now, the idea of the ’sensei’ is fairly classic, the old master who teaches the young hero their secret technique and all that. But the young heroes in BnHA, with their high stakes environment, do have a lot of them.

This is especially true for Midoriya.

 Inko Midoriya

Surely I’m not the only one who thinks it’s super interesting that we have not seen Midoriya’s biological father? Like… he wasn’t even on the couch watching the Sports Festival.

Considering his mother appears to be a house wife in a fairly nice apartment, I think it’s safe to assume that he at least exists. Maybe he’s a salaryman with a lot of overtime, more likely he’s working overseas.
Whatever the case, he’s very much an absent dad.
Now, absentee parents aren’t that much of a deal in anime. The ‘16-year old living alone in Tokyo’ is a bit of a trope, after all, but here, with the emphasis on several characters parents, it feels like a statement. This is the manga in which we know the entire family set-up of Tsuyu, and the names and appearance of Jirou’s parents. Much as I love Jirou, she’s a side character.
For the main character to have a blank space like that, is a Thing. It means that growing up, Izuku had one parental figure, and that parental figure was his mother.

And give the woman credit: she did amazing.
It is not easy to raise a child practically by yourself. Certainly not a child that is considered an outcast by society. The amount of love Midoriya receives from his mother is heart-warming, their relationship is one of the better ones portrayed in shounen and as a result, Midoriya is a kid with an incredible amount of mental fortitude, capable of handling some pretty devastating circumstances.
His mother has been a supporting pillar in his early childhood, which, remember, was pretty rough on account of all the bullying. As such she has shaped a lot of his personality. She’s equipped him with confidence, with an unshakable belief in himself.
However, she is very much not a hero.

Her love is one of katsudon and hugs and kind words and worried tears. She wants him safe, above all else. She’s never going to teach him hand-to-hand and going by her advice alone will not make him into the hero he desperately wants to be.
Him quite literally leaving the warm nest she made for him to learn how to fight evil people is a big part of him growing up.

 All Might

Maybe that’s why Izuku puts so much of his hopes and dreams on All Might.
Here’s his ultimate hero taking an interest in little old him.
It’s a fairy tale. A manga trope.
And I really believe that he sees an alternate father figure in All Might once he gets closer to him. They have their wax on, wax off moment on the beach, with All Might encouraging him to get stronger. This is the trope. The sensei, mister Miyagi thing where the kid gets prepped to receive the ultimate technique (in the form of a lock of… hair, whatever).
But unlike traditional masters, and unlike his biological father, All Might sticks around. He is a presence in his life. He cares for Midoriya and his continued success in a way that, at this point, no other male figure does.

Dad Might gives Midoriya a whole bunch of very important advice, but it’s good to note that this isn’t a rough or distant sort of male mentorship.
All Might quite literally opens himself up to Midoriya.
He shows him his weaker side. The skeletal side. The broken side.
Because All Might, let’s not forget, is a friggin mess.

I mean, I know he’s going through a lot, but this man is Such a Dork. It’s definitely endearing and it is also one of his best traits as a character. However: as a person, he’s really not very well equipped to be raising a teenager. He lacks, in a way, the stability and level-headedness that comes with the position of a teacher.
He cares too much. About everything. All the time.
And he nurtures that side of Midoriya, when Midoriya already has plenty of that.

He can’t help but admire Midoriya’s selflessness. Can’t help but praise the very foundation upon which his own heroics are based: helping people.
When he saves Todoroki. When he saves Bakugou, All Might is there to tell Midoriya that what he did is all right.

And this is certainly important for Midoriya to hear, but at this point it’s also not the only thing he needs to hear.

 Aizawa Shouta

Luckily Midoriya also gets a more traditional teacher figure.
It’s interesting to note that, despite being the younger of the two, and despite the fact that he sometimes teaches from an honest to god sleeping bag, Aizawa is a much more stable mentor and general Adulting Adult.
He still cares about his students, but he’s also much more likely to Act as a Teacher.

Because Aizawa immediately picks up on Izuku’s self-mutilation.
He watched the entrance exam, he knows that Izuku’s quirk is, at this point, extremely flawed. That Izuku doesn’t have control over it.
He explains it in a pretty standoffish way, and certainly this early in the show it comes across as cruel, but he’s not wrong.
Izuku is breaking bones every single time he uses his quirk at this point in time. If he does anything with his quirk, he’ll be a casualty.
Him using only a single finger is framed as a feat of intelligence,
but it is also INSANE.
'Oh you only broke one finger, you have nine attacks left’.
That is NOT a good plan. Don’t do that. For fuck’s sake.
I hope we all realize that what Midoriya is doing is Not Healthy.
He is eating away at himself, destroying his own body over and over again.

When Aizawa tells Midoriya to get a grip on his powers he’s not just being an ass. He’s being a responsible adult, a teacher that cares about the general well-being of the students assigned to him.

Manga spoilers under the cut.

Headcanon that after the raid, Kirishima buys himself a hoodie that looks just like Fat Gum’s – it’s baggy and too big for him, but he likes it, and he just wants to signal how manly and cool Fat is in his eyes.

When he meets up with Fat Gum that day, Fat frowns down that the hoodie, contemplating, and Kirishima already wonders if it was not a good idea at all.

The next day, Fat Gum shows up in a red shirt, grinning widely as he points at the words in black color, sloppily painted across his chest:

Red Riot.

(Kirishima cries – manly tears – through his big grin and his laughter.)

a meta about one of the best yet most underappreciated character development scenes in the bnha manga.

this is very long, but i also think it’s very important. please take the time to read, and enjoy this long piece o’ work

ok, here we go.

i’ve been re-reading the manga and this scene is so emotionally charged and so underrated. i’m going to be salty for a bit but stick with me here.

ok, first of all, let’s talk about the details: the baku(rescue)squad’s expressions.

todoroki looks alarmed, shocked to an extent, but mostly confused. the question that todoroki should ask in this situation is “why midoriya?” because technically it’s todoroki’s fault along with kirishima. even though it’s understandable why he’s upset at midoriya, being upset to the point of punching him (despite the fact that midoriya isn’t responsible for the initiation of the mission) is placing too much of the responsibility on midoriya’s shoulders, and it’s unfair. but, we don’t see any of that in todoroki’s expression. todoroki and iida went through so much together and so did iida and midoriya, which is why it’s uncharacteristic for him to just punch him out of the blue. not to mention that midoriya just got out of the hospital, and everyone was worried, so why would he do that? do we see that in todoroki’s face? the answer is no. his expression isn’t accusing at the slightest.

todoroki is alarmed but he’s waiting. he’s waiting for the explanation. todoroki gets his own panel so we can focus on his reaction, but there isn’t much to it, and that’s exactly the point. todoroki is the only one that gives iida the benefit of the doubt, and that’s a good way of showing how much their relationship progressed without touching on the subject at all.

on to yaomomo, who looks shocked to her core. she looks terrified, and i feel so sorry for her in this situation, especially because she’s the one they’re going thanks to. she just wants everyone to be okay. she’s helping with this because she wants bakugou to come back safe, and she’s accompanying them because she can’t send them off somewhere dangerous without knowing what might happen to them. she wants kirishima to be safe and also todoroki and midoriya and iida, and she’s willing to break the rules to do so. seeing iida acting this way and injuring midoriya must be horrible (especially with her kind of thinking… in the todoroki/aizawa fight she was thinking about her every move, regardless if it was her losing confidence or executing the final plan. she had to ask herself and todoroki if what she’s doing is okay).

now, and this is the interesting one: kirishima. the other two’s expressions can be explained in a way that ties them to the act: momo looks shocked because she has no idea why iida would act up when midoriya has nothing to do with the decision (and because she’s subconsciously taking the blame for herself), todoroki looks alarmed– because why would iida take out his anger on midoriya? (but is waiting for the rest, because he knows him too well), but kirishima has no idea who iida is beneath the initial impression of a strict class president, and would have no clue as to what’s iida’s reason for punching someone (and especially when that someone is his best friend).

kirishima, bless his soul, looks disgusted. he looks confused but his brows are pinched in a way that tells us that he’s not okay with this. and why would he be? he wouldn’t, because kirishima is all around a boy that has a strong sense of justice. kirishima is definitely blaming himself for having to rescue bakugou in the first place, and is going against the rules because he feels guilty and thinks he can do something. he wouldn’t endanger his classmates, ask momo for a favor and secrecy, go against the police and the pro’s orders and spend money on this ordeal if he didn’t think he has a shot at succeeding.

from his point of view, i can only imagine that he thinks iida is being dramatic and violent. kirishima wouldn’t suggest an idea like that without having confidence that they can fix this (he had all of that confidence even when it was just him and todoroki), and he knows that (as a person that was there when it happened) it bugs midoriya the most. so he asks midoriya from the good of his heart  if he wants to come along. kirishima doesn’t know iida that well at all (well momo doesn’t either but kiri is mentally stronger than her, so he thinks about the wrong in the situation instead of overthinking what he did wrong) and it makes all of the sense in the world for him to be mad. iida is supposed to be a role model, and that’s why it’s so alarming to see him randomly punching his best friend, but kirishima is the only one that shows clear disapproval for his actions. idk i just think it’s neat.

ok, getting to the point now: iida.

iida is a very underrated character, and his development is especially underrated and looked down upon, but this scene is where he grabbed our attention again ever since he lost it after the stain arc. you see, if you don’t stan iida, i doubt you pay attention to him. people appreciate his extremely well-written character only when the focus shifts to him, which is not often at all.

now that i’m done being salty, think about the betrayal you’d feel if your best friend went under your nose to do something you specifically asked them not to go do. think about how hurt you’d feel when your friend ignores people who cares about him completely to do something reckless that might get him killed. midoriya didn’t take iida’s emotions into consideration at all.

in the stain arc, iida feels bad for midoriya and todoroki’s involvement. they got hurt for him, and almost died for him. not only that, but he caused major trouble to the pro hero he was working with at the time by doing something on his own accord. he knows better than anyone how acting on your feelings can affect everyone else. you’d think that midoriya learned that as well, right? but here he goes again, going under the pro’s noses to do something extremely dangerous. not only that, but thanks to yaomomo the police had a lead and the pro heroes had the situation under control for once lmao. the students shouldn’t have gotten involved because the police already planned out how to approach the situation–it wasn’t being ignored and they had a plan. kirishima and todoroki’s decision to save bakugou was selfish, and it was selfish of them to ask midoriya to join especially because he’s injured (even though midoriya did want to help), and it was selfish of them to ask for yaomomo’s help (and also keep that information from the pros. just to recap: they asked her to give them the location of the villains so they can do something dangerous and reckless when the police had a way to solve the situation, they asked her to not tell anyone and then they asked her to stay put. that’s the worst position a person could be in; knowing they’re out there, getting hurt, while not being able to say or do anything about it–that’s so difficult. todo and kiri are my faves but they were asking for so much, and it was so unfair to momo. no wonder that she joined them). it was selfish of them to do all of that, and tsuyu (+plus uraraka) made that very clear when she confronted them about it later on.

but to iida, the most selfish thing that happened was midoriya actually going with them. he was going to get himself and other people in trouble. he was going to risk his life doing something pointless. iida knows how much that hurts people. he experienced it first-hand.

iida knows midoriya is frustrated, and he knows how it feels better than anyone else. the difference between the stain arc and the hideout raid arc is that the outside forces could do something about it, which is exactly why he has the right to get mad. he knows frustration; it drove him to do something reckless and selfish too. he risked his classmates’ life too, he ran off on his own too. he felt like he was cornered, he had no one to turn to, he was angry and endangered someone else selfishly, and he acted in the most non-heroic way an aspiring hero could act as. after all of that wrong he did, he realized his mistakes after seeing the damage his actions bared with them, and dealt with the consequences the best he could– by changing his attitude and learning from his mistakes.

iida moved on. midoriya was present for all of that; which is why iida is frustrated with him. midoriya acted selfishly too, and caused trouble for others too, and iida thought they learned that lesson together. midoriya said it himself: we were both wrong. let’s make up for it together.

… yet. even though he said all of that, he still repeats the same mistake iida did. the way midoriya planned to go with kirishima and todoroki despite what iida told him is a stab in the back. midoriya didn’t consider iida’s emotions at all. ever since the stain incident passed, iida made sure the class got their act together. he made safer choices and took other people into consideration, and he continued being the best class president a class could ask for. he was trying to make up for his mistakes. he grew and fixed his wrong doings, and midoriya was supposed to do the same. here he clearly goes against what he said to iida in the panels above. what he said back then changed so much for iida, but it seems like he’s throwing all of that away to go after bakugou in the hideout raid arc. that’s so unfair. that hurts. midoriya went back on his own word (the same words that changed so so much) to do something irresponsible again. in the first panel i showed you, iida says that he worries over everyone, not just bakugou. bakugou didn’t do anything outstanding/likable/rescue worthy, and yet iida worries about him. of course he would. iida cares for everyone in class a1, but he didn’t plan to do something reckless (and technically, illegal) for one of them, because it’s not his place. but midoriya did. iida still worried and cared and wanted to do something but didn’t. by totally ignoring iida’s request to step down (and the warning from the other classmates) he disrespected iida’s emotions and incredible self-restraint. iida and the rest of a1 made it clear that it was a bad and selfish idea, but the group still planned to go. that’s so cruel to the rest of the students who worried but restrained themselves. that’s so cruel to iida. midoriya’s supposed to be iida’s best friend but he can’t even understand that.

midoriya, as the person who encouraged iida’s new path when he lost his way, did something very wrong and heartless. midoriya was so selfish in this arc, it’s honestly amazing. the hideout raid arc is so well-written, and it gives midoriya such a flaw that made me like him so much more as a protagonist. it shows us that despite all of the things he went through, he has so much place to develop. iida is being completely fair in this scene, and midoriya kinda deserves the punch he got. i don’t think he realized how much he hurt iida by sneaking out of the hospital that night.

regardless of  that, iida still joined the group so he can keep an eye on them.

that only shows how much he developed. this conflict is truly one of the best in the entire manga.

This woman’s name appears on the Declaration of Independence. So why don’t we know her story?
Mary K. Goddard printed one of the most famous copies of our founding document. To do it, she had to face down the Twitter trolls of 1776.
By https://www.facebook.com/petula.dvorak

The Declaration of Independence printed with the names of the signers. Mary Katharine Goddard’s name is at the bottom.

“Look closely at one of those printed copies of the Declaration of Independence.

See it? The woman’s name at the bottom?

It’s right there. Mary Katharine Goddard.

If you’ve never noticed it or heard of her, you aren’t alone. She’s a Founding Mother, of sorts, yet few folks know about her. And some of America’s earliest bureaucrats did their best to shut her down. Same old, same old.

Goddard was fearless her entire career as one of America’s first female publishers, printing scoops from Revolutionary War battles from Concord to Bunker Hill and continuing to publish after her offices were twice raided and her life was repeatedly threatened by haters.

Yup, she faced down the Twitter trolls of 1776.”

anonymous asked:

Wait, what connection do touka and shinohara have for her to take flowers to him im confused..?

They’re actually quite well connected- not personally but technically, they go way back.

Touka served Shinohara before the 20th Ward raid when he visited Anteiku to ask about Kaneki

“Have we met before?”

Well, kind of. There’s a reason he recognised her

Shinohara, along with Mado, were in charge of the Corpse Collector Investigation. They were directly responsible for hunting down Arata and sending the CCG against Touka and Ayato as children. And of course, Shinohara was also a wearer of the Arata armour.

Ghoul Investigators snooping around Anteiku right before the raid would have been something that stuck out for Touka. He pretty much lost his life in that battle, where he fought Yoshimura (Touka’s father figure) wearing Arata (Touka’s actual father)… so even if Touka doesn’t know just how far their history together goes, there’s a lot of connection within the story.

As for why Touka took him flowers, we can’t be 100% sure.

But ever since murdering Mado, and certainly after the Anteiku Raid too, Touka has made a huge effort to let go of any feelings of vengeance. To let go of the anger she held in the past which had always weighed her down.

It was something she tried to teach Akira too, because she had already been through this.

So I’d like to think her leaving flowers for Shinohara was her own way of letting go of leftover hurt from the Anteiku Raid. A gesture of peace, maybe forgiveness, to someone who had also lost something on that day. But we’ll see! I’m curious to know if we’ll find out more.

This time I’m going to go over some factors that guide movement that are less about visual composition and more about content. I am using the same map from Part 1, a map of an icy cavern frost giants are using as a lair. An entrance to a hero’s lost tomb is located within.

A/N: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAUNA (@exosmutxoxo) I hope this story finds you well, and that you are surviving college! Sending you all my love and hope that your birthday was everything you hoped it would be~ It’s a slow burn, but I promise the story comes together in the end ;)

Damn it,” You hissed.

The clerk lady on the other side of the desk pressed her lips into a thin line. “I’m very sorry ma’am, but there was, in fact, a mix up with your luggage. We’ll do everything we can to locate which flight it’s with and return it to you as soon as we’re able.”

You tapped your foot on the ground in frustration. After sending the airport employee one last pleading glance, you hesitantly scooted out of line, allowing the mass of people behind you to try and resolve their own dilemmas.

Well, You stuck your hands into your pockets angrily, biting your lip with fervor. There’s nothing to be done about it now. At least I’ve still got my carry-on.

It was raining outside of the airport. Of course it was raining. After staying huddled underneath the awning for twenty minutes, you were finally able to hail a cab. You quickly flung yourself into the backseat, your damp hair clinging to your face.

“Where to, miss?” The driver asked.

“Oh, right,” You were a discombobulated mess, still disgruntled from getting the news that your luggage had been lost. You rummaged through your small carry-on backpack, pulling out a heap of crumpled, wet papers. After finding the one you’d been looking for, you squinted to make out the smeared ink. “Let’s see… 223 Cedarwood Plaza.”

The driver nodded to himself, redirecting his attention to the road and pulling out of the valet lot.

“Heading to Cedarwood University then, I presume?”

“Yes sir,” You struggled to get out of your wet jacket, cramped in the backseat. “Just got back from vacation. This’ll be my second year here.”

Wah,” The cab driver let out a huff in surprise. “That there is one of the most expensive private institutions in the country. Way up in the mountains, too.”

“It is. I like it though.” You hummed. “This year I was able to find a roommate online and share her apartment rent, so I won’t have to live on-campus.”

“Sounds like a good deal,” The driver took the exit off the main road, taking the one the lead upwards into the mountains, and away from the big city. “‘Hope it goes well for ya.”

“Thank you.” You nodded briskly in gratitude.

The ten minutes that remained on the trip up the mountain were spent in silence. It seemed as though everywhere you looked, there were seas of pine trees as far as the eye could see. You pulled your phone from your jacket pocket, wiping the excess water off the touchscreen. You unlocked it, immediately tapping the screen to check your messages.

Under the Gloves

“Papa, what do you like about mom?” The lavender haired boy tagged along beside his father, both dripping with sweat as the doors to the gravity chamber closed behind them.

His father scoffed, eyes narrowing as he kept his stare straight ahead, “That’s an odd question.”

“Not really,” Trunks flexed his shoulders, wincing slightly. He was definitely going to be sore in the morning, “I mean, you guys are always arguing and stuff. Usually that means you don’t like each other.”

“You have a lot to learn about females.” Vegeta opened the door to the kitchen as Trunks practically ran him over; he could appreciate his sons ravenous appetite.

After the two of them raided the fridge, practically all of its contents laid out on the the kitchen island. Trunks through a large bite managed to say, “I mean, you guys never even hug in public. I’m not even sure you sleep in the same room all the time.”

With a roll of his eyes, Vegeta finally turned ever so slightly in his chair, “Your questions are irritating. Relationships aren’t always about mushy, useless displays of affection. If your mother and I didn’t want to be together, We wouldn’t-”

“You’ve got mustard on your glove.” Trunks interrupted, pointing with the chicken leg he was holding.

“Damnit,” Vegeta growled, dropping his steak to begin peeling off his gloves.

Trunks continued to gnaw on his lunch, mulling over his fathers words as he watched him carefully peel off the now stained gloves from his large hands. He’d always wondered about his parents relationship. Gotens parents at least seemed to like one another. His parents were like oil and water, flammable and volatile; but they’d been together awhile so there must be something to it…

The son of Vegeta nearly dropped his lunch when he saw the gold band on his fathers now exposed ring finger.

Vegeta tossed the gloves off to the side of the island and picked his fork back up. He finally noticed Trunks’s obvious stare and smirked, “I only wear it under my gloves. Don’t want to lose it. Sometimes relationships are the things you don’t see.” He finished quietly and went back to eating his steak, “And don’t tell your mother.”

Trunks smiled and happily picked up his chicken.

Smut Week: Day 5 | Jeon Jungkook

Pairing: Jungkook x Reader

Being older than half of your friends didnt bother you too much. There was something about being an older sister to Tae Jimin and Jungkook that just made you smile. It made your heart happy. Though all of the boys would come to you speaking advice, the younger ones especially did, you seemed to always be locked away with one of them while they told you your deepest darkest worries.

So when Tae and Jimin approached you to talk to you alone you didnt thing twice about it before standing up, adjusting your jeans and following them to their room.

‘So we have something to tell you.’ Jimin said with a sly smirk. 'Its about one of the boys.’

'You’re not going to get beat up for telling me will you?’ You joked pulling a pillow on your lap.

'You can’t tell him we told you.’ Taehyung said.

'Okay, so tell me what?’

'Its about Jungkook.’ You chuckled.

'He’s going to actually kill you then if your telling his secrets.’

'Well we will keep it venue. Its cause were worried about him.’ Taehyung said biting at his lip. You rose an eyebrow and waited for him to continue.

'He likes someone.’ Jimin started. 'Someone who’s a lot older than him.’

'Well not a lot older, but older enough.’ Tae added.

'Okay, and your worried about this why?’ You asked folding your arms.

'Cause were all friends with her too and we don’t want his crush to ruin anything.’

'Well if she’s older don’t you think shed be mature enough to get over it and not make things weird?’ You asked.

'Its more that we all know so we all see how desperate he is trying to flirt with her and how bad he is at it. Its just making us all uncomfortable.’ Taehyung said looking to Jimin.

'Were just worried, we all are. We don’t want to lose her as a friend you know?’ You nodded understanding what Jimin was saying.

'It doesn’t help that she’s completely oblivious so it makes him try even harder.’

'And he’s so wrapped up in this crush that he’s even starting to discard his responsibilities to the group just to spend extra time with her.’ Thats what set you off.

'He what?’ You said sternly, your eyebrows pressing together.

'Yeah. He was supposed to help Hoseok the other day with choreo and he blew him off to spend time with her.

'Thats not okay.’ You said shaking your head. 'So what do we do?’

'We were hoping you would know what to do.’

'Well… do you want me to talk to hi-’

'No. if he knew you knew he’d kill all of us.’ Jimin cut you off.

'But maybe I can talk to some sense into him…’

The next night the boys all filed into your apartment for dinner, you had been cooking almost all day as a congratulations your starting your tour soon, ill miss you dinner. The older boys took over the living room, all fighting over who got the cooler looking remote control for the gameing device you had bought just for when they came over. The younger boys helped you in the kitchen, well they stood around while you finished cooking after raiding the fridge for beer.

You noticed at dinner how awkward everyone but Jungkook was being. They all would look at him and then look at each other and you saw what they meant. Jung kook was acting weird. You tried to help the situation, calling peoples names to talk about different things while trying to tell jokes that only a few of them would laugh at. Eventually you gave up, they were all to focused on Jungkook. You stood starting to take their plates to take them into the kitchen, smiling sadly at Tae as you did so.

You saw him roll his eyes when Jungkook immediately stood to help you so as you lead the way to the kitchen you decided to talk to him.

'Hey, Kook can I talk to you for a second?’ You asked as he brought int he last few plates, the rest of the boys now moving back to lounge all over your couch.

'Yeah whats up?’ He smiled coming to stand right next to you, drying the dishes as you washed them.

'So its come to my attention that you have a crush.’ You said, getting straight to the point.

'Oh.. Look Y/n,’

'Kookie no girl is worth you turning down your bets responsibilities for. I don’t care how much you like her. And if this girl liked you back she wouldn’t want you to do that. Those boys in there need you.’

'Does this girl like me?’ He asked softly, convincing himself that you had just confessed to him.

'Well how am i supposed to know that, I didnt even know you liked someone till I was told. Look, Kookie,’ You said as his face became confused. 'Just talk to her. Wether its to tell her you like her or to tell her you need to focus on bts. But what ever you do just remember bts needs to be the most important thing in your life.’

He nodded and bit his lip, putting the dried plate where it belongs.

'Y/n, I uh.. I really like you.’ He said turning to face you.

The dish slipped slightly from your hand and a 'everything okay in there?’ from Namjoon came from the living room. You looked back at Jungkook who looked at your terrified, your heart beating extremely fast. You looked away as everything flooded back to you. Last week you hadn’t felt well and texted the group chat asking one of them to bring you cough drops and sprite. Jungkook of course came to your rescue, but that must of been when Hoseok had been blown off by him. Your eyes met his again and something in your heart lurched, but you were angry. How could that happen? You treated him like a little brother. You dried your hands and walked away from him and out into the living room, tossing the damp towel to the side as you did so.

'I think its time for everyone to go home.’ You said clapping your hands. Your eyes met Jimin’s and you glared, how could he not warn you? How couldn’t any of them warn you?

'Is everything okay?’ Yoongi said sitting up slightly.

'Im.. I just need to go to bed. Im not feeling well.’ You said running your hands through your hair.

With out any questions they all got up and softly thanked you for dinner, all giving you a soft side hug and an occasional cheek kiss. Jimin had texted you privately asking what happened but you chose to ignore it, and Jungkook as he looked at you once more before you closed the door.

Your head spun, there was no way Jungkook liked you. There was no way.  You had convinced yourself that he just was messing with you, that it was some prank but as he texted you, and then texted you four more times you knew that it wasn’t a joke.

noona please.

are you okay?

please talk to me.

y/n…

You continued to ignore them all the next day. You were equally as mad that someone didnt warn you as you were that this was happening. Jimin threatened to come over to force you to talk you finally responded and told him you just wanted to be left alone, which eventually he did.

It was late and you were starting to feel bad for kicking the boys out and ignoring them all day. You could tell they were worried. Your doorbell rang and you yawned, throwing the blanket that had a big picture of Hoseok’s smile on it onto the floor, gag gifts from the boys. Your eyes stuck to the tv as you made your way to the door, opening it before you even looked to see who it was. When you turned to see Jungkook there with your favorite flowers you had half the mind to close the door on him, but you stepped aside and let him in.

'Im so sorry that I made you mad.’ He said handing you the flowers.

'You just caught me off guard thats all. I hate being the last person to know things.’ You said giving him half a smile. For the first time you realized just how handsome he really was.

'I just.. I thought we could talk about it.’ He said, his face was pale and you could tell how scared he was. You let him come in further and laid the flowers on the kitchen counter before joining him on the couch, pulling Hobi’s face back up to cover you.

'That is the worst blanket I’ve ever seen.’ He said making you chuckle slightly. 'Im sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I was just doing what you told me to do.’ he said.

'I realized that.’ You started. 'Its just I-’

'Is it because I’m to young? The others said its cause I’m too young.’ You thought for a second and that really wasn’t it.

'Its not because of your age,  I just thought you viewed me as a big sister so hearing that you had feelings just caught me off guard.’ You bit your lip. You watched as he looked at you, his eyes flicking down to your lips and back to your eyes.

'Do you think you could ever feel the same way?’ He asked, now avoiding all eye contact.

'I think…’ You stared at him and smiled, your heart warming slightly. 'I think I could.’

He’s head snapped up and his cheeks instantly turned red. For the first time he made you nervous. You looked to the tv and then back to him. Reaching forward you took his hand in yours and squeezed it.

'Why don’t you stay?’ You asked taking the next step. He gave you a big smile and looked down to your hands.

'FIne, but I’m not sitting under this.’ He said pulling at the blanket.

You sat there, you hand still in his as the two of you watched tv. It felt like normal, but with a slightly new flare. You couldn’t help but bite your lip when you’d see him looking at you from the corner of your eye. You two took turns laughing and commenting at the things that were happening. You had moved to slightly lean against him, one arm wrapping around his while your other hand pulled his into your lap. You could feel his skin heat up under your fingers making you blush slightly.

Now as you talked your faces were closer and neither of you could keep your eyes from flicking down to stare at the others lips. You finally had enough of this. You wanted to kiss him so badly, you wanted to see if there was something there and this was the easliest way to find out. The next time you were both looking at one another you leaned up and pressed a soft kiss on him. As you pulled away and looked back to the tv you  could see his wide smile. He reached out to pull your chin so you were looking at him again.

His face approached your slowly, but the moment your lips met the kiss was intense. All those months of him secretly crushing on you built up was just unleashed as he kissed you with so much passion. You shifted, your hands grabbing to his shirt to pull him forward as you laid against the couch. He followed you willingly, laying on you to kiss you deeper. It didnt take long for you two to begin to pant into the kiss and you couldn’t help yourself but to grab onto his hair and start to slowly roll your hips against him. He groaned instantly, loving the way you moved against him.

His hand found your hip and pushed your shirt up just enough so he could rub his thumb against your waist. His dream of finally being able to feel you coming true. He would never tell you, but he dreamed about these kinds things.

With your shirt now pushed you you moved your hands to pull at his. Getting the hint that you wanted it off he helped your pull it off. You ran your hands down his neck and across his shoulders, rubbing firmly. When you finally hooked your arms around his neck you lifted your hips into him further making him groan again.

'Is this okay?’ He said breathlessly, his lips brushing yours.

All you did was chuckle and sit up making him remove himself from you. You reached the hem of your shirt and pulled it off before moving yourself to straddle his lap, pulling him into you closer. He chuckled agains your lips as the kiss picked back up again. His hands instantly grabbed your behind and started to move you, groaning as you rolled your hips against his already erect member you rolled like that for a minute, the both of you groaning and squeezing at one another to deepen the kiss.

You squealed when he picked you up slightly and laid you on the couch, laughing into a gasp as his lips left yours and began to kiss down your neck. Finding your sweet spot he smiled, now sucking and nipping at the sensitive skin. You moaned breathlessly and wondered to yourself how his lips could feel this good against your skin. You didnt realize your eyes had closed until the opened to see him pulling your shorts down.

You lifted your body so he could easily pull them off and as you opened your legs for him you were half surprised to see him take charge and kiss up the inside of your thigh until his tongue was liking the length of your core. You gasped at the feeling and instantly your back arched. You fought against the feeling to press your thighs together and sensing this Jungkooks hands moved to hold your legs apart. He ate you quickly, his tongue flicking and rolling against you. Every other flick he’d prod your entrance with his tongue letting his teeth add a slight pressure to your clit.

He had you a moaning clenching mess by the time he was to horny to continue. You panted as he sat up to quickly remove his pants and the moment he was leaning back towards you, you grabbed the back of his neck and pulled him into kiss him once again. You could feel him stroking himself, his hand hitting your core when he reached his tip. His fingers than moved to stroke you a few times before the feeling of him lining himself up with you over came your senses.

You broke the kiss to  tilt your head back as he quickly entered you. He took advantage of your exposed neck, kissing roughly into it as his hands now moved to push your legs up. He pumped into you quickly. So quickly that you clenched the nearest thing you could with one hand as the other gripped harshly into his back. Moaning on top of you he gripped harder to your legs and pushed himself up.

Pounding deeper now he let out short sweet grunts, the sound of his skin slapping against yours making your body tingle. The higher the pleasure rose the louder you’d gasp and the louder you gasped the faster Jungkook would go. His skin started to shine with how hard he was going and his bottom lip would catch between his lip as he watched you squirm under him. Your hands found his and he intertwined your fingers.

The moment you moaned his name and told you were going to cum he lent back over to kiss you quickly, wanting nothing more than to swallow the sound of you moaning under him. Your entire body clenched making him moan as that included your core.

'Ah, fuck.’ He breathed, his pumps instantly staggering.

You gripped to him tighter and pushed your chest into his, breaking the kiss as you head tilted back again. You gave a soft squeal as your body released, the feeling of him riding you through your orgasm setting your body on fire. You pulled at his neck, your eyes closing and your lips finding his again to quiet your whimpers. The feeling of him pulling out quickly and cumming against your skin made you moan again.

Without even looking you reached down and took ahold of the blanket and wiped yourself off. The feeling of Jungkook chuckling agains your skin made your eyes open and look at him.

'Poor Hyung.’ He said nodding to the blanked where a glistening streak of cum covered Hoseok’s cheek.

Proof of Janstar In Mathmagic

I believe this episode has given us an example of a timeline in which Janna works up the courage to ask out Star! This, as you may suspect, is due to the following lines:

Janna: “Hey Star, why did the chicken cross the road?”

Star: “What?”

Janna: “To ask out the rooster.”

What a peculiar punchline! I’ve certainly never heard that one before. Yet, was Janstar intended to be on our minds? Yes, I believe it was! You see, immediately after Raid the Cave premiered, By the Book played.

Glossaryck: “Friends? Well, that’s such a simple concept.”

Raid the Cave had us all wondering if Glossaryck’s intentions were pure or not.

Glossaryck: “Oh. I thought we were friends.”

By the Book sought to have us sympathize with Glossaryck by showing him in a saddened state. One may conjure up many theories as to why Glossaryck acted the way he did, if he truly feels emotions, etc. However, the point remains that By the Book aired after Raid the Cave. Surely this was no mere coincidence; rather, it was strategic planning designed to refresh us on the character and have us contemplate them. So what played immediately after Mathmagic?

That’s right, Girl’s Day Out! This is the most influential Janstar episode, if not Bon Bon the Birthday Clown. Why would Girl’s Day Out specifically be chosen to air after Mathmagic? To ensure Janstar is on our minds and reaffirm their relationship!

Just look at that smile! So what can we say about this timeline? Well, nothing has changed asides from Janna’s beanie and some minor dialogue. This is not an outlandish world, it is a very plausible reality for Star.

Star: “That joke, you just told me it a minute ago, but it was a little different.”

Janna: “What are you talking about?!”

I didn’t catch this the first time I watched the episode, but Janna seems extraordinarily displeased with Star here. I thought it was just because what Star’s saying makes no sense to Janna. However, Janna is also likely upset that her attempt to ask out Star was called a “joke”.

Janna may have been working up the courage to ask Star out for a long time, and phrasing it in such a wacky form may have been Janna’s way of making it memorable. To see Star react in such a manner would surely be disheartening.

So, this alternate timeline in which Janstar is unequivocally canon is a very possible reality. Girl’s Day Out aired after Mathmagic specifically to instill the romantic pairing of the two in our heads and have us view the episode in such a light. Coupled with the descriptions of upcoming episodes and screenshot of Janna with her arm around Star, I think the future is very bright for Janstar!

I have been an ExMuslim since I was fifteen years old however I have only been open about my apostasy for the past six years. I choose to remain anonymous online because although I live in a Western Country I have endured so much abuse and threats from the Muslim community where I live. I also choose to remain anonymous because I have previously been doxxed by Muslims who went as far as to try and get me fired by contacting my workplace.

I am devoted to the ExMuslim because as we are a people whose voices are often silenced or ignored on a global scale. I am here to give a voice to ExMuslims who are unable to speak up.

My family were and still are strict adherents to Islam. I was raised in a culture-free household with the primary objective to raise the next generation of Da’ee and Mujahid. From a young age, I was taught to believe only in Allah and that the evil disbelievers will burn in hell for eternity. At seven I was told to wear the hijab, to pray and to never talk to boys. By the time I was twelve, I could recite any passage for the Quran as well as the correlating meaning and Hadith. When I received my first period, I was ordered to wear the niqab and that I was ready for marriage. My first proposal arrived at fourteen followed by a steady stream of suitors aged between eighteen and thirty-two. I refused to be married and always found excuses to manipulate my parents into holding off.  I had no one to reach out to for help as my mother had removed me from school in a bid to train me to be the perfect wife.
In the early 2000s, many of my parent’s friends were raided and arrested for planning a terror attack in my city. Out of fear of imprisonment, my family moved overseas where I encountered a truly Muslim State. At this time a war was breaking out in the southern provinces and one of my cousins was killed fighting for an offshoot branch of Al-Qaeda. People would walk the streets wearing shirts with Bin Laden’s face on them, nonmuslims would travel everywhere with armoured vehicles and guards. A Christian convert was killed by his own family in the streets. During this time I had begun to question my beliefs and I was terrified.
My family returned back to the West after the raids and sentencing had quietened down but my family had had a taste of what a True Islamic Country was like and so they began to heavily proselytise for Muslims to emigrate to True Islamic Countries.
In my late teens, I had finally convinced my parents to let me attend school to graduate, but I was quickly pulled out as I was in a haram environment with mixing despite being fully covered. It was then that I thought my only way out is through marriage. If only I could find a nonreligious Muslim guy! But my parents wouldn’t agree. I needed to marry a strong man who would guide me and discipline me if needed.
Throughout my childhood, my parents were physically violent and it wasn’t until I was almost twenty, that I started to fight back. I would kick and punch them as they were beating me with belts and cables. One day, after a particularly brutal beating, I told my parents that I would destroy their reputation and that I would call the police if they so much as even threatened to harm me. They must have understood how serious I was as they never touched me again.

Not long after this did I leave home. I knew there was no possibility for me to gather my things and that it would have to be a sudden departure as I shared a room with some of my siblings. You would think being raised in such a household we would be united against my parents but sadly it was everyone for themselves and they would happily throw a sibling under the bus if it meant them getting out of a beating.

The night I left was terrifying yet liberating. I had no idea where I was going, no money, no clothes yet I didn’t care. I would have slept at a bus stop or train station. Thankfully though I had a friend who offered a couch for me to sleep on.

Now I have a job, I live in my own place, I have completed my high school education as well as graduating from a few different courses, I am in a healthy and supportive relationship and I own a beast of a car. Every day I try to experience new things and talk to people from all kinds of backgrounds.  I know how hard it is to leave home and I now offer my couch to ExMuslim who are escaping their families and countries (it is currently taken by a lovely young ExMuslim girl)

It hasn’t been easy to get to the position I am in now, but it’s been worth it. I have grown so much as a person. I am proud of who I am. I am a confident, outspoken woman who doesn’t resemble the timid and terrified girl I was six years ago.
I am free.
