AWESOME AMERICANS

The Totally Awesome Hulk #15

is the MOST AMAZING COMIC I HAVE EVER READ.

Like seriously, as an Asian American, it covers basically everything I have ever dreamed of in a comic.

Silk loves karaoke

There are cosplayers

They talk about representation.

And blatant racial stereotyping.

And microagressions.

And parental expectations of you.

And they fight over the dinner bill. Literally.

Today we’re celebrating our national bird, the bald eagle, for American Eagle Day. On June 20, 1782, the bald eagle was placed at the center of the Great Seal of the United States and remains a symbol of our proud country. After a dramatic recovery, bald eagles are found in every state but Hawaii, soaring high and inspiring the nation. At the National Park of American Samoa, you can see amazing tropical animals, learn about the culture of Pacific Islanders and enjoy snorkeling in gorgeous blue water. Or you can just find the perfect place to lay on the beach and do nothing. No judgment. Photo by National Park Service.

Emos Of Color

Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy is biracial (his mom is black!). Here he is rocking his natural hair:

Ray Toro of My Chemical Romance is Latino (mixed Puerto Rican/Portuguese ancestry).

Travie McCoy (vocalist of Gym Class Heroes) is underrated af. He has collaborated with both Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy and Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco.

Gabe Saporta is the vocalist of Cobra Starship. Patrick Stump produced his band’s second album, and Pete Wentz has made cameos in at least two of their videos. He is Latino (Uruguayan-American) and also Jewish.

EMO IS NOT WHITE CULTURE!!!!! BLACK AND LATIN AMERICAN EMOS - YOU HAVE REPRESENTATION, AND YOU ARE VALID!!

(P. S. All my Asian emos out there - I didn’t forget about y’all. They’re not really emo bands but you like nu-metal? Check out Mike Shinoda, backup vocalist of Linkin Park. Like 90′s alternative? Check out James Iha, guitarist of The Smashing Pumpkins. Both are awesome Japanese-American rock stars. :3)
