I wish I had the ability to write a full post on it as I would like to, but without a computer, that’s not currently possible. Still, I want to talk about Magi 323 for a bit.
I know the fandom is kind of split on Sinbad- you either love him or hate him, and to the extreme on either side. To both sides, seeing either extreme is wrong. He is neither entirely evil nor entirely good. What he is, is an extremely well-written antihero. Throughout both series, he has been there to serve as a morally gray element to counter against the idealism we’re used to seeing in the main trio, as well as in shounen manga overall. He is what exemplifies Magi and sets it apart; he is the one character that defines the series and its theme. While some disagree with his methods, almost everyone can relate to his ideals. However, Sinbad is painfully human, with vices and struggles and times where he doubts himself.
Since I got into Magi, I’ve been a fan of Sinbad. He’s arguably one of the most well-written and multi-faceted characters I’ve ever had the fortune to meet, and I still maintain that he’s far more interesting than more morally upright characters. I loved him when he triumphed, I laughed at his comedic moments, I cried when he suffered, I wanted to believe in him and his ideals. So, that said, I’m heartbroken to see him apparently die this chapter. I had hoped that there would be some kind of resolution that didn’t involve his death, but of course, I had this sinking feeling that he wouldn’t make it out alive.
I think Magi would lose its color without Sinbad. I think that he is so central to the story and such a key part of the message that he’ll continue to be relevant. Whether he’s revived or gets some other kind of closure, I don’t know. But, I’m glad that he was a part of the story until now. I don’t think Magi would have been the same, nor would I have enjoyed it as much, without Sinbad.
So, as Ugo said, thank you for everything, Sinbad.
Naruto was awake longer than Sasuke, right? Going by how Naruto told Sasuke in the next panel to not move or they’ll bleed out and die, I wonder what was going to Naruto’s mind as Sasuke was unconscious….. :O
Yoru doesn’t survive for long after leaving the D-agency, Fukumoto found him dead near the market one day, foaming at the mouth. He picks the cat up gently and brings him back to the yard of the agency, burying him under the tree with a sign that says “Our family cat.”
I'm usually not disrespectful to the coaches/managers whatver you call it but Didier deschamps is an asshole! I swear there is no one in the french squad that is as good as Benz, Grizi is young and has much potential but seriously no one beats Benz. He plays for the best team in the world, that is not a joke? He is a fucking starter striker for the best team in the world and he's not included? That just shows that didier is a total shit and doesn't know football. Please, gignac or giroud? Ew.
Can we appreciate the fact Hades offered Nico a room at his palace in the Underworld in case his son dies in battle, because he doesn’t want Nico to feel like he’s got nobody and that he’s got his Dad no matter what? That’s some special treatment there. Nico doesn’t even need to be judged or whatever to be placed in Elysium or any fields in the Underworld–he’ll go straight to the palace.
Can we appreciate the fact that Hades’ gift to Nico’s birthday was a French zombie–who was a professional racer–to be his son’s chauffeur that Nico can summon anytime and anywhere to take him literally any destination in the world?
Can we appreciate the fact that Hades protected and saved Nico (and Bianca) when Zeus wanted to kill his Italian children, because Zeus didn’t want any child of Hades to be the child of the prophecy (and lost his beloved Maria di Angelo in the process)?
Can we appreciate the fact that Hades wanted Nico to be an exception from all his children in the past, and wants Nico to be genuinely happy despite fate’s cruelty to any child of the Underworld?
Can we just appreciate this one last fact that Hades loves Nico so much and obviously his favourite child because he knows his son suffered the most than any demigod simply because Nico is his father’s son?
