Arcade Fire 4 song set from Austin City Limits 2011

This was another one.. a whole 20+ minute partial set from Arcade Fire’s headliner at ACL 2011. The first four songs of the set are included. Setlist includes: “Ready to Start”, “Keep the Car Running”, “No Cars Go” and “Haiti”. I don’t know about you, but I can never get enough Arcade Fire.

Austin City Limits tips:
  • The part of Barton Springs Road that cuts through Zilker Park is closed. Many other surrounding streets will also be closed. Parking nearby will not be a likely option.
  • You can bring (2) unopened one-Liter water bottles into the festival.
  • No weapons are allowed. Big surprise there.
  • Don’t bring your fancy schmancy SLR camera. Unless you have a photo pass. That you applied for ages ago. They won’t let you bring it in.
  • Take a blanket. You’ll end up sitting on the ground at some point.
  • If you have a few hours to spare between acts, I would suggest walking to eat at one of the restaurants on Barton Springs (Chuy’s, Phil’s, Shady Grove, Daily Juice, there’s even a McD’s and Schlotzsky’s for those of you on a strict budget). There will be a line, but you will not only have a wider options of food, but you’ll feel more satisfied after you eat. Plus, if you wait to be seated inside, free AC!
  • Have everyone in your party’s phone number programmed into your phone. You never know whose phone is going to die unexpectedly and no one bothers to remember phone numbers any more. Don’t get separated from your group.
  • Have a meet up spot with your friends. Make a certain area “home base” and have a general idea of which acts everyone wants to see. That way you’re not stranded at base waiting for your friends to show while you miss that one band you’ve heard of, but wanted to give a listen to. If they know that’s where you want to be, they might be there looking for you after getting separated by a crowd.

For those not attending the festival:

  • Be patient, it will all be over soon.
  • Stay home. Don’t venture out too far.
  • Don’t believe anyone calling in “sick” on Friday.
  • Barton Springs and the immediate area will be loaded with pedestrians. If you aren’t attending the festival and get a temper with jay-walkers, people changing lanes at the last possible nano-second, cyclists, and swarms of people you might want to find an alternate route. I’ve sat at the Barton Springs/Lamar light for 5 cycles during ACL once… I was not happy.
