What I think of the MOON signs:

Aries: A lot of mental activity, thinking too much about what interests them. They could be intellectuals. They may appear calm on the outside, but a tornado is going on inside them. Optimistic, very competitive and impatient. They live for the moment, forgetting all else. That’s the reason they change their mind so easily about everything. Very curious, but opinionated. The Aries moon at it’s worst may blame things on others, unable to take responsibility. However, they don’t hold grudges and are usually kind and easygoing, wanting to do the right thing because they aim to live up to this ideal image they have of themselves, whatever that ideal is. If I had to give some advice to this moon sign it would be: not everyone is out to get you, enjoy yourself, RELAX!! and don’t let your need to be the best, even when you are, poison yourself and your relationships. Celebrities with this moon: Angelina Jolie, Nicolas Sarkozy, Bill Gates, Rihanna.

: Charming, very charming. Has a great sense of humor and loves companionship. They will tell you stories, they will make you feel warm. They may not take criticism well, but who does? They do not like to be rushed into things, they like stability and comfort even when being adventurous. They may enjoy shopping too much. Ruled by Venus, they are romantic and affectionate in love, sometimes possessive, and they chose love over friendship. Depending on the Sun and Venus, this moon can be extremely jealous. But wishing to keep balance they will hide it under a passive aggressive attitude which can cause more wrong than right. They look for the best in people and usually will find themselves giving too much, but their desire to maintain balance will help them stay on track. They look more reasonable than they are. If I had to give some advice to this moon sign it would be: keep shining, but don’t be so proud. Not everything is like you see it. Sometimes it’s OK to fuck up and admit it. Celebrities with this moon: Christina Aguilera, Cameron Diaz, Mother Teresa, Chris Brown, Jim Morrison.

Gemini: Absent minded? You bet! However they compensate that through their wit and curiosity. They are versatile and easy going. Even on the least easy going suns a Lunar Gemini will ease up the chart. They mean well, I do believe this, mostly because they are not interested in what other people are doing. They do not get caught up in gossip and do their own thing. They can be irritable and moody, but not usually. They are lazy even though they want to have a hand on everything! They have so much they want to do, but their minds go faster than their power of will. They are nervous thought, and if they have a problem they may not know how to act upon it and feel paralyzed. Gemini moons are fun and very chill. At their worst, Lunar Geminis can be very cold and indifferent. If I had to give some advice to this moon sign it would be: you are capable of anything if you work! You are not alone… And look around more, be warmer. Celebrities with this moon sign: Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Alyssa Milano, Jennifer Lawrence.

Cancer: are cancers tired of hearing they are emotional? Yes, but it doesn’t make it any less true. Cancer, as a moon sign, is powerful because the moon is the realm of emotions. Being emotional doesn’t mean weak, on the contrary, a Cancer moon has to be strong to be able to feel as they do. And Cancer moons are indeed strong. They are tender and sweet, and a roller coaster of emotional outbursts. They are in touch with their feelings, so much so, sometimes they get too caught up in them, becoming self-absorbed as if their own emotions are the only emotions that matter. What’s the problem with this? That if they are feeling pain they tend to forget the good things in their life and instead of trying to get better, the get lost in self-pity. They have a good memory and a soft heart, even when you least expect it. They do not do well with criticism, they do not take jokes lightly. They love, they love a lot, even through their mood swings. And find it hard to let go. Do not take this moon sign for granted, they are loyal AF. If I had to give some advice to this moon sign it would be: you need to act more and build the future instead of clinging to the past. Celebrities with this moon sign: Taylor Swift, Kurt Cobain, Keanu Reeves, Shakira.

Leo: This moon is outgoing and bright. Yes they need attention, yes they love flattery, yes they can be overly dramatic and yes, as the Leo they are, they do think highly of themselves. And that’s part of the reason they are so successful, they are confident and know they are more than capable of handling anything. They truly are more than capable. They are proud, but have qualities to back it up, and you can’t hate them because they are loving. All that they have for an Ego they have for a heart. They need a lot of love and even though they know they are great, they want to hear it. If you want to cheer them up, genuinely tell them the good qualities you see in them or let them win at a game they love. This is a nice moon to hang around with, a romantic moon, a quick to anger moon, and a moon that won’t try to hurt you, unless you stand in their way. They can be dramatic and get this, they hate drama. They love the whole “nobody loves me” and slamming doors, but oh boy! they‘ll think you are crazy if you act like them. If I had to give some advice to this moon sign it would be: yes, we love you, but do not act so dramatic! Celebrities with this moon sign: Julia Roberts, Mahatma Gandh, Monica Bellucci, Tom Cruise.

Virgo: yes, this whole post was about my perception on the moon signs, but I must warn you I am especially biased about this one… I’ve met so many Virgo moons! Many people I love have Virgo Moons! (I am a Virgo rising myself) And I love them, but we crush. All Virgo moons I have come in contact with were and are… way too… critical. They don’t seem to know you have feelings. They will say nasty comments about your personality, hobbies, clothes… but will get angry at the slightest thing you say to them, and they will over-think it for ages. For even though they are hard on others, they are hard on themselves as well. They do not realize their own defects. However, once they do, they will try to correct them. They also say the good stuff… but not so often. They are sharp and they love a good debate. These people are smart and may involve themselves in jobs that allow them to help humanity. They are not mean or petty, just critical and defensive because they want to make things perfect and be perfect (perfect from their point of view). If I had to give some advice to this moon it would be… yes, you guessed! Watch your words, they cut. No, you are not always right and you don’t need to be. And not because you don’t like something does it mean it’s wrong. Celebrities with this moon sign: Madonna, Dalai Lama, Nicki Minaj, Sean Connery.

Libra: Another very charming moon sign, but unlike their sun sign, the Libra moon person is more secretive. They love love. They are very romantic, it can break their heart. They want to be liked and do not enjoy arguing and outbursts of emotion. They can be superficial and vain, but they are also sweet and peace oriented. They are dreamy, calm, they want to open up, they have a lot in their minds, more so then what they are willing to share. They can be extravagant - for some reason - and quiet. They have a dark side: they can get caught up in their negative emotions but never share it with the world. They might be artsy, bohemian, and proudly so, and they all have a personal sense of style. Whatever they are inside- hippie, hipster, painter, lawyer - they will dress to show it. You can tell a lot about these people from their clothes. They might not be terribly steady in love, sometimes they fall for too many people at once. If I had to give some advice to this moon it would be: there is more than what meets the eye, there’s more than looking for others approval. Celebrities with this moon sign: Leonardo DiCaprio, Justin Bieber, Kate Winslet, Jude Law.

Scorpio: This moon is sensual and dark, this moon wants passion, this moon is romantic and is not afraid of commitment! This moon wants loyalty and is loyal. They are dramatic, very dramatic, like a Leo moon, but without the bright disposition. They are egocentric and at the same time, giving. They hold grudges, but if they love you, you won’t need any reassurance because they will be there showing you. They are hot headed and domineering, they like to feel in control. They are jealous and fear betrayal. They will not put up with your bullshit for too long. They have a strong will and they will get where they want to in life. Do not mess with them. They will not take revenge, but they will not forgive you. They feel a lot, and also expect a lot from others. If I had to give some advice to this moon it would be: chill, chill, chill. Not everything is about you, trust a little more, lighten up! You will be glad you did. Celebrities with this moon sign: Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry.

Sagittarius: This moon is curious, careless, optimistic and has a childlike manner to it. They look chill to others. They talk quickly, and are a bit impatient. They are naive, afraid of commitment and dislike restrictions. They need space and personal freedom to be happy. They are carefree and may not always be in tune with others emotions, sometimes they are oblivious to how others feel. They will be there if you open up, but may not be the most empathetic of ears. If things get tough, they will run away. They like to do research and could do well in this area, thanks to their curiosity. They want to explore the world and meet new people, they like talking and can get irritated easily. If I had to give some advice to this moon it would be: Sometimes grounding yourself is needed, sometimes you see more by looking within than by avoiding quietness. It is OK to sit with oneself, don’t avoid things out of fear of working through the rough parts. Celebrities with this moon sign: Albert Einstein, Nicole Kidman, Sharon Stone, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Capricorn: this moon is closed up. This moon needs to feel productive and they measure their worth through their ability to get somewhere in life. They want money and material things and YET they will cultivate a spiritual side. This moon worries about everything. A woman (or a person with feminine energy) with this moon is loyal and stable, a man (or person with masculine energy) with this moon sign, however, finds it hard to be with one woman because they do not know how to be vulnerable. They have will power and emotional strength, they will give you everything you need if you ask - you’d have to ask as they do not know what people need. This moon cares about their style as well, like the Libra moon, this moon dresses up for the job they want, as they say. They like shopping. They can also be alone for long periods of time, they do not mind being in their room all day. Something most people do not expect of this moon sign is their high sexual drive! They can be very kinky and like to sleep around. This moon is cautious, and doesn’t take risks. They like to know the outcome and will think of all the possibilities before rushing into things. If I had to give some advice to this moon it would be: oh, you, it’s ok to be vulnerable. If you never open up, you will miss your life. Take risks, maybe not always, but do not let love pass you by because of fear. Celebrities with this moon sign: Amy Winehouse, Adolf Hitler, Johnny Depp, Napoleon.

Aquarius: what a witty moon to have. In my opinion, this position makes a person fast, goofy and brainy. They are detached and bubbly, they look not as smart as they truly are. They like attention, but will not give it to you! They are aloof. They care about facts, though. They call it the Aquarian Age for a reason. They want to know things, but will not argue with you if you do not see things as they do. They like to keep their emotions to themselves and do not like to be serious. So maybe, listening to others talking about their problems is not their strength. They just want to chill! If a sarcastic comment is what you need, go talk to them. They care about history and humanity, they want to make a difference. If I had to give some advice to this moon it would be:: care about people a little more, ok? They might need you as much as you need them. Celebrities with this moon sign: Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, John Lennon, Conan O'brien.

Pisces: Yes this moon sign is the most compassionate and empathetic of all the moon signs. This moon is psychic, and will know how you are feeling even better than you. They can easily feel overwhelmed by the harsh demands of this world and, at their worst they can turn to drugs or other ways to escape reality. However, they are funny, goofy and optimistic, they live in their dream world and seem to be in a far away land. Even though they can be masochistic, and can be a pushover, this moon sign sees everything and everyone with rose colored glasses, including their future. They think everything will be alright even if death is right in front of them, they will think they are dating a kind person even if they find them cheating on them every Saturday. They are indeed innocent, gullible, but what most people do not know about this moon sign is that once they see you for you, there is no way back. They put people they love on pedestals, but if you fall, it will be hard for them to put you up there again. Which is not a bad thing, it is better not be on a pedestal anyway. However, the problem is, when they get betrayed or hurt, they start to think the worst of people. They will not revenge, but maybe they won’t let you back into their life, they are afraid to be vulnerable. It is easier for them to be there for others than to be there for themselves and show the world all the messy they are inside. They feel guilty over everything and even though they care about people a lot, sometimes they have trouble showing it. If I had to give some advice to this moon sign it would be: love yourself more, take care of yourself and do not be a doormat. And stop the self-pity. Celebrities with this moon sign: Michael Jackson, Michelle Obama, Martin Luther King, Elvis Presley.

anonymous asked:

Would there ever be the possibility of a trans character (and especially a pre-transition trans character) showing up on "The Bright Sessions"? There's a decided lack of trans characters (and especially pre-transition trans characters) in media as a whole and I would really, really love to see that happen, especially on a podcast that has been as diverse as "The Bright Sessions."

Short answer: yes.

(very) Long answer: yes, this is something that has actually been on my mind since the very beginning. As I think I’ve mentioned before, I have a whole list of atypical characters that I would love to bring onto the show. But when I first started coming up with the characters that would occupy the first season, there were a few things I had to keep in mind.

Structure. I thought more than three patients would be overwhelming and unruly to manage with the therapy format.

Actors. I was definitely going to be writing a character for myself (Sam) and for my best friend Anna (Chloe). This started out as a way to stay creative and write fun stuff for myself and my friends so that’s what I was considering. I knew I wanted Julia to play Dr. Bright pretty early on and Caleb was the second character I had ever thought of. The moment he was fully formed, Briggon seemed like the perfect fit.

My ability to write it. Girl with anxiety? Easy. Angsty, sensitive teenage boy? Yeah, I can do that (thanks YA fiction/high school au fanfics). Flower child with a heart of gold who is also fiercely intelligent? You bet (Chloe was written with Anna in mind and there are many similarities between them). Intelligent female psychologist? Yes, my sister is one of those, she can help me. Plus each of these characters has a piece of me and my perspectives, so I felt qualified to tell their stories.

The challenges/benefits a superpower would provide. This is a big one. I thought a lot about which power/character combos would be most interesting. Time travel/panic attacks, empathy/teenage hormones, mind reading/bleeding heart, etc. And I have dozens more of these in my list of atypicals. Which brings me to…

Shapeshifting/transgender. One of my first thoughts when planning out atypicals was, “wouldn’t it be cool if there was a trans character who was trying to gain control of their shapeshifting ability in order to change their physical body to what they felt on the inside”.

For those of you following along at home, yes, you have already encountered this person: Patient #6-C-1, mentioned once in Episode 17A and then seen by Caleb and Adam on one of their stake-outs. Even though there is absolutely no indication of this canonically, in my head that person is trans (pre-transition).

So why haven’t we seen more of this character? Well, for all the reasons I just talked about.

Structure. Damien is technically the only other patient we’ve added after the initial three. And he is a necessary foil/antagonist to the rest. All the other characters we’ve added have either been serving an antagonizing purpose or are characters that we’d alluded to in the first season (Adam, Mark, Frank, etc.). Because we only see two or three characters per episode, I’m constantly worried about overstuffing the cast.

Actors. As I said, this has been an exercise in casting my friends. We’ve never held a casting call (mostly because they are time consuming and cost money) and I would obviously want to cast a trans actor to play this role. And I know that if I put in the effort, I could find this person. But the whole production side of this podcast is way more thrown together than it may appear so this is entirely an organizational failure on my part.

My ability to write it. This is the biggest obstacle in having this trans character in the podcast. I am not trans. While I’ve known plenty of trans people in my life in various stages of coming out and transitioning, I can never know what that process is like. Ever since imaging this character I’ve been thinking, “this seems like a cool idea to me, but would it actually be offensive to trans people?”.

There are certain stretches I can make in my writing (for instance, I write male characters and characters with very different morals from my own) but with trans representation being so sparse, as you said, I didn’t feel I was the right voice to tell a trans story. So then it becomes about finding someone to consult with - either a trans writer or even the actor who ends up playing this character.  I know it’s not something I can do alone. Even in writing this answer, I worry that I will somehow misrepresent or offend those who are trans. Trying to tackle this subject in the podcast is something that very much intimidates me because I care so deeply about doing it right.

And to go back to the more practical obstacles, we’re only adding two more voice actors this season and that will be it for the foreseeable future. The unfortunate reality is that I am but one person with a very busy life, for whom this podcast is still basically a really fun hobby (not in the sense that I do it in my spare time (because it is all my time), but in the sense that it does not pay my bills). There are a hundred ideas and stories I want to get to, and I simple do not have the time or brain capacity to do so all at once.

So that is the very long-winded, somewhat spoiler-y reply to your thoughtful question. I debated about how much to give away in this answer but I figured full disclosure was best. I’m not trying to make excuses - I know that there are extremely talented trans artists out there that I should seek out. And hopefully, as the world of the podcast expands, I will be able to do so.

I’m glad that you find The Bright Sessions to be a place of diversity and I am constantly striving to improve it on that front. I just want to make sure that I do it right.

9/17/17 Show Notes (Closing Night)

okay… one last time, here we go! (again, apologies for the delay.)

-The line to get into the theatre was longer than ever. I guess that’s what closing night will do for you (it just frustrated me because that’s how the line should have been for the whole run, but I could go on about that forever so).

-My mother and I ended up sitting directly behind the Cotts (Corey’s parents, Carly, and Meg) and it was so fun to be able to see them watch the show. Nathan Johnson was also a couple seats away.

Act I:
-It was the first time I noticed Donny’s hand tremor (see: the scene before Right This Way, etc.) in the opening battle scene with Michael, meaning that it even precipitated Michael’s death. So that was a great realization which was totally fine and not at all painful.
-There were a ton of little moments that got applause, and it was absolutely clear that the cast appreciated it.
-Geoff always looks on the verge of actual tears right at the beginning of Breathe and it’s so incredible that I just have to finally mention it.
-I don’t know if it was an attempt to lighten the closing-night mood or what, but Corey was joking around onstage more than ever, and it was amazing.

-During the poem scene with Julia (“You’ll make fun of them!”/“I won’t. Trust me.”) which is normally super serious, he said “I won’t!” and then, before “Trust me,” grinned and jokingly went “Eh, maybe a little bit” with hand motions and everything.
-After the line “This song will get us to New York. Everything hangs on New York,” while Donny and Julia are discussing the possibility of changing the contest song, Corey put the sheet music in front of his face and began swaying his head around, which was adorable and made Laura grin.

-Love Will Come and Find Me Again got a standing ovation.
-Right This Way was just on another level. The guys onstage were crying, my mother and I were crying, all the Cotts were crying, you get the picture. Needless to say, it also got a standing ovation.

So during intermission, the woman sitting next to my mother struck up a conversation… it turns out that she was actively serving in the Navy, and basically every member of her family was either actively serving or was a veteran going back several generations. Additionally, a number of those family members apparently struggled with PTSD, so the show hit incredibly close to home for her. It was her third time seeing it, but nobody involved with the show knew about her, so even though it was closing night my mother went to go see if anybody was still at the box office that could make something happen. On her way, she ran into Andy Blankenbuehler (he had been watching from the audience with his wife and kids), and since he wasn’t mobbed she thanked him for the show and asked if he would like to meet the woman.

{Sidebar: As someone training to dance on Broadway, I have always had the utmost professional respect for Andy- I think he’s an absolutely brilliant choreographer and I love everything he’s ever done. Based on what I’ve seen of him I assumed he was kind, but I’d never witnessed him interact with anyone in person, so I couldn’t be sure. Now I can say with absolute confidence that Andy is one of the most genuine, caring people I have ever met in the industry, and I have complete respect for him as a person as well.}

He came over to talk to her, and, despite the fact that it was closing night and he was probably one of the most popular people in the room, he intently listened to her story and was moved to the brink of tears before pulling her in for a hug. It was clear how much the moment meant to him, and as he left he wholeheartedly thanked my mother for bringing him over.
It’s been almost a week, and I’m still struck by his compassion and sincerity.

Act II:
-Laura was audibly choked up on “Sing because you just need to sing” which was heartbreaking on so many levels.
-Corey and Laura were both so emotional during This Is Life.
-Oh my God the pen thing. So a couple people have already mentioned this, but it’s worth repeating… when Julia and Donny were signing the NBC forms Laura dropped the pen, so she and Mary did an “Oh! Sorry!/Excuse me!” thing, then Corey smiled and went “She’s nervous!” and Mary said something like “We all are!” It was hilarious.
-Welcome Home… yeah. They all made it through the song, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. I know for a fact there wasn’t a dry eye on stage. Also, when Corey went over to hug Laura he triumphantly raised his fist in the air, and the applause got even louder.
-It got the longest standing ovation by far. Like, it went on for so long that instead of the curtain coming down and the broadcast music beginning before the showgirls run onstage, Jonathan and the girls slowly crept onstage and then the curtain began to fall so that the show could continue, because the audience would not stop applauding.
-I cried most of the way through the finale (‘Epilogue’). It was just a lot.
-After the whole cast (including swings and understudies) had their bows, a couple more people involved with the show came onstage- the reason I’m mentioning this is because Alex was one of those people!!! I was so so happy because I had initially heard he was going to be there, but then that morning he was posting Instagram stories in Pennsylvania so I figured he wouldn’t be, and then he appeared! (and they included him in their pictures so my day was made and everything was right with the world.)
-ANDY’S SPEECH. It was the most amazingly perfect statement about the show that I’ve ever heard. I’m so glad that people recorded it so that everyone can hear it, because it was just phenomenal.
-After the speech, the cast stayed onstage for a long time.

-Joey immediately went across the stage to hug Alex, and I can imagine that their dynamic could have been complicated so I thought that that was heartwarming.
-Mark proposed to Jaime!!! Jaime was beyond excited and it was SO cute.

So… here we are! I’m not going to make an emotional heartfelt speech- I’ll save that for another post- but I’m so glad that people have enjoyed reading these, since I don’t really contribute to the fandom in any artistic/creative way. (And even though there won’t be any more show notes, I’ll still be active on here for the foreseeable future.)
-S ❤️

TAZ Fic Recs

I’ve been reading some excellent TAZ fics lately, so I decided to start a rec list! This is mostly so that I can find these stories again later, but if you’re looking for TAZ content, do check these out. I’m a BIG Taako fan, so these are almost all Taako-centric.

Newest additions to the list are at the top.

if it makes you feel better

aaaand drumroll pleasee, i finished my last request!! i really can’t believe it. now i’ll make requests open again! i can’t guarantee that i’ll be faster with them, but i will have some free days this summer, so i’ll do my best :). this one shot head the plot ‘erik gets jealous about something’ so it was pretty vague and i didn’t want to make it basic, so instead i used a book i read recently as inspiration. it turned out to be pretty lengthy, oopsie. enjoy!!

It has been eight days. Eight full days since we said we couldn’t go through with this anymore. And what do I see? He is already with some bimbo he probably picked up one drunken night after we broke up. He is lucky it was the beginning of the summer break and his drunkenness didn’t have any consequences. Otherwise his sudden decision of picking up someone would have turned out disastrous as it seems that pretty little blonde wouldn’t have gotten the hint and would have just gone with him to practice, not knowing she was unwanted. Yes, that’s the idea I got after a second of seeing her. No brains. Awful I know. But who can blame me? We just broke up. Anyone by his side is a brainless bimbo.

Orders From Casper - Phanfic

[A/N: I wrote this phanfic for a creative writing assignment in my english class, because why not? I also thought I’d post it here, because why not? Hope you guys like it! c:]

“Please, Mayor Casper. I promise he can change.”

“No, Phil. My decision is final. Dan Howell is too creative to live in a place like this. I order you to find him and bring him to me. We can either talk some sense into this boy, or he will have to leave.”

Book Asks!

1. Libraries or bookstores?

I like to have my own collection so definitely bookstores.

2. Hardcover or paperback?

Paperback, especially the floppy kind.

3. Hard copies or ereaders?

I have an ereader that I sometimes use but I would rather have a hard copy.

4. Bookmarks or dogears?

I don’t judge but I would never dogear a book. I have a small bookmark collection or will use random pieces of paper.

5. New books or worn books?

I would rather a new book but I also love used bookstores.

1. Genre?

Young adult fantasy

2. Author?

There are so many authors I love but right now it might be Rick Riordan.

3. Series?

I love the Sarah J. Maas books but I haven’t finished one of her series yet so probably The Mortal Instruments series.

4. Individual book?

Dragonfly by Julia Golding is still a favourite of mine.

5. Classic book?

It’s a tie between Macbeth or Hamlet by Shakespeare.

1. Favorite time of day to read?

If I can read from morning to night than I’ll be happy.

2. Favorite place to read?

I have a reading nook in my room and I love it.

3. Silence or background noise?

Silence but sometimes if I have a song stuck in my head I’ll put on some instrumental music to drown it out.

4. Preferred weather for reading?

Snow storm all the way.

5. Favorite reading-time snack?

Anything that I can eat without getting a stain on my book.

1. Favorite childhood book?

Amanda Greenleaf by Ed Kavangh

2. Currently reading?

Nothing right now but there are so many good new releases that come out in the beginning of May that I can’t wait for.

3. Book you want to read most?

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

4. Reading goals?

My goodreads goal is 100 books this year.

5. Book you could read forever?

Either A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas or The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I’ve read them both so many times and I love them.

1. Worst book you’ve read?

I know I’m repeating myself but Me and Earl and The Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews makes me angry it was so bad.

2. Book you couldn’t even finish?

I bought Betwixt by Tara Bray Smith recently and thought I was really going to like it but one of the pov’s was so bad that I didn’t even care what happened to the other characters.

3. Book you didn’t understand?

After I thought about it a little bit I vaguely got the ending but I Am the Messenger by Markus Zusak was good but so confusing.

4. Most overrated book?

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green was a good book but it was way over hyped, especially when the movie came out.

5. Problematic book?

Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon kind of romanticized illness and the twist ending made it even more apparent.

AESTHETIC: (feel free to include pictures)

1. Prettiest cover?

It looks better in person and has gold edged pages.

2. Best illustrations?

An Illustrated History Of Shadowhunters and Denizens of Downworld illustrated by Cassandra Jean is so, so beautiful.

3. Favorite map in a book?

The map in the Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is totally my favourite.

4. Best overall book aesthetic?

The Mortal Instruments series and The Infernal Devices series booth have these special edition spines that are amazingly illustrated.

5. Ugliest book?

The Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor is a good series but the covers are just so bad.

1. Scariest book?

In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters was super creepy and there was this one scene that haunted me for weeks afterwards.

2. Best fantasy world?

The Shadowhunter world made by Cassandra Clare has a couple great series in it that I love.

3. Funniest book?

The sarcastic humor in Rick Riordan’s books is so funny to me.

4. Saddest book?

Impulse by Ellen Hopkins made me cry so hard with that heart wrenching ending.

5. Book you would never want to read?

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson sounds like a good book but it is going to be at 2 different times and show how these twins relationship was damaged. I don’t like that writing style.

1. Character you wish to be friends with?

I would love to be Rowan Whitethorn, first seen in Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas, is amazing and I love him and Celaena together. Even hanging out with him a day would be cool.

2. Favorite antagonist?

So even though he was literally the worst and such a bad guy, I thought Sebastian from The Mortal Instruments series was such a good bad guy.

3. Favorite protag?

Katy Swartz from the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout is someone I relate to so much and I found her perspective refreshing.

4. Favorite supporting?

Nico di Angelo in The Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan is a perfect little baby who I must protect at all costs. He is adorable!

5. Most-hated character?

Maybe not the most hated but I found Colin Singleton, from An Abundance of Katherines by John Green, to be kind of a pretentious character.

anonymous asked:

Hi! Do you know some fics where either Louis or Harry is in love with the other and the pining is like really REALLY agonizing? I want to feel the pain haha! Peace and Love ✌🏼️

Oh god yes. (It’s a very long fic rec so … under the cut)

(also if you want some more, take a look at Unrequited love AU , and Best friends to lovers , full of pining ;) )

So I’m done with episode 3 of Anne now too, and I’m keep falling in love with this show.

I will start with Marilla and Rachel Lynde, because damn this two actually gave me feels. The way their friendship was portrayed, the way they are actually “ride or die” for each other. And when they were fighting and Anne just came in and tell them that she’s so jealous of their friendship, that they are best friends and kindred spirits since school, so they just smiled at each other and and the fight was alredy forgoten - awww, they are so cute.

Now let’s talk about Gilbert, because damn I was waiting for Gilbert and I’m so not dissapointed. More then that - this Gilbert is so unfair, he’s so perfect I wanna cry. Again shout out to the actor, who pays him. All of these kids are so talanted.

So I don’t even actually know where to begin with this, but the way they did this episode story and entangled Anne and Gilbert’s story into it was brilliant. Again this show keeps adding depth to the story I knew and loved before and makes it even more understandable. For example, I always thought, that when Anne smashed  that slate into Gilbert’s head, she was kind of overreacting, but here they played it so well. They showed it to just be the last straw in her horrible last few days. She didn’t fit in, she had worse clothes that other girls, everyone was mocking her for being an orphan, there were so many stupid rules everyone was expecting her to follow, she was in trouble for that Prissy situation, she was even threatened (that scene with Billy in the forest was really scary) and still was trying to keep it all to herself (and damn if that didn’t hit home with me, I know how it feels to be bullied in school and trying to play it cool, my hear broke for Anne when she took the flowers of her hat in an attempt to become ‘normal’, in an attempt not to draw attention). So the Gilbert situation and her break down in the end with “i’m never coming back to school” is so much more understandable here that it was in the book. Great delivery, show.

Also can we talk about Gilbert’s reaction when Anne literally broke the slate over his head?

‘I’ve loved you ever since that day you broke your slate over my head in school.’

Yeah, boy, we get it. Control your heart eyes, they’re showing. (he’s so adorable)

Okay, this is alredy getting too long but a few more point:

- I don’t talk about it much, but the way they handling all Anne’s abusive past and all the horrors she has been through and how it all affected her is really satisfying.

- cudos for Marilla for dragging that fake - feminists down, although my hear broke for her too. She was so happy to join them, to have help of other young mothers and then they turned on her like that. Marilla is the best, let me hug her.

- i like Jerry and i feel like in the future (if we get more seasons) he can be a romantic prospect for Anne and a rivalry for Gilbert. So far I just really enjoy their bickering with Anne. And I’d pick Jerry over Roy Gardner any day, so if we could avoid the last one I’d be really glad.

So far I gueed that’s it, off to watch the next one.

Let me break it down for you guys…

To the HV fans who keep calling me a “jealous fangirl” because of my post… I can not stress enough how wrong you guys are. I did not make my post to “justify my hatred” towards them because they are girls. Believe me, there is nothing more in the world that I want than to have girls who rock in the music industry…. but these girls are not good people. They USE people to get what they want. And my rage against them has been building up since BEFORE I was a 5SOS fan. (FYI, I was a huge CB fan.)

When I get into a new band/artist I do my research on them. To their music, their interviews, to anything because I am new to them. I just want to get to know them. With Cherri Bomb it was really easy because they were very open with their fans and they put everything online. So open, that Nia’s old Tumblr (before she redid it) had a very detailed story about how she felt when her dog died in her “About Me” (Just to give you an idea about how open they were.)

The Lovelis clan have tried and failed to get a reality TV show… Hmmm, I wonder why? It’s almost as if they’re only interested in being “famous”… Julia’s dream is to make music for a lifetime, while the girls dream is to be celebrities… Don’t make up excuses for them, it’s there in black and white. (I got this information from Ana Lovelis’s personal FB page, btw.)

My post was created to inform people on HV and of course my opinion was going to be present because I DO have one (And I’m allowed one)… I am a music fan just like you guys… I am a child of the internet just like you guys… We are the consumers and we have the power to make or break them. The “rumors” came straight from the girls. Like I said before, they were so open on the internet. I got all my information from them and a lot of the girls friends. The sources were not cited because I didn’t want to put them on blast, but they do exist guys… they speak with Julia on social media all the time; they’ve got nothing to hide. They are real and they know more than any of us because they were there when the shit went down. On the other hand, the HV girls have not addressed these so-called “rumors”… there’s just so much dirt on them on the internet they can’t escape it (yet they choose to ignore it.) They threw themselves under the bus. It’s not hard to put the pieces together, everything is provided for you via their social media accounts/Cherri Bomb youtube video comments.  This is not something I made up so you guys can hate on them. I’m literally on your side. You and I are the listeners/buyers why should I not speak up and let you guys know what kind of people they are? I just don’t want more people to go through what the old Cherri Bomb fans (myself included) went through. They are just a problematic band full of giant egos. And don’t get me started on the mom’s (Nia, Rena, and Miranda’s) they played a big role in Julia’s “departure”… And as far as claiming that the girls are still “friends/good terms”… right, that’s why they follow each other on social media and talk to one another all the time… makes perfect sense. Of course Julia would never speak ill on those girls because she’s a professional and she will not sink to their level and become the “bad guy” they claimed her to be. (Just pointing out the obvious.)

The “creative differences” has been used as an excuse by many bands before, usually by bands who have been a band for years and have many albums out… (any band/group who doesn’t fit in that description are no longer a working band/group, simply because they are not able to work out their problems and the consumers don’t want to waste their time on something set up for failure from the get-go.) It just doesn’t make sense for them to use that old Hollywood excuse when they were a baby band on the rise with ONE album out. They definitely could have changed up their sound for their second album. Seriously if you’re still a non-believer ask Julia on twitter, “was it creative differences that made you leave your own band?” (although she’s already answered this Q plenty of times!!) Go ahead, I dare you. In fact, when my post came out, someone asked her on twitter if it was true and she favorite it (twitter rant version). Later, she tweeted out a personal statement on the matter… While Rena, hours after the post was made, she tweeted out saying something about being “grateful all the time” and “can only look to the future and not dwell on the past.” (verbatim) …Is that an apology? Is that a denial? No, neither. Sounds more like she can’t deny the facts.

So no, I am not just some “jealous” fangirl or a “bully” hiding behind a screen as some of you have said about me indirectly… My opinion on HV stands and no one can convince me otherwise. Not even MIRANDA’S BEST FRIEND could properly defend them when he sent me messages… him or Amourrette. My ask box is open and I’m open to hearing your opinion. I’m not here to pick fights with you guys, I am on your side.

And for those saying, “it’s about the music and not the artist…” how does that make sense? I am honestly asking because as far as I know the music comes with the artist and the artist comes with the music; it’s a packaged deal. No one likes a problematic artist/person, for example:

Iggy Azalea, Chris Brown, Wendy Williams, Robyn Thicke, Perez Hilton, etc….

Man, they must know someone high and mighty in the industry to get this third shot as a “new and improved” band (Red Shadow, Cherri Bomb, and now Hey Violet.) In fact, I do believe they know someone “high and mighty” because they had a meeting with Capitol Records long before 5SOS was even on their radar, and they kept them in the back burner until they found the “right fit” for the girls and now having 5SOS to their label and being very successful (in their own right), I guess they found this to be the “right fit” for that recycled wanna-be band. (and yes, I got this information from one of their personal FB accounts that has since been re-made. You can choose to believe me or not, idc.)

Of course the boys HAVE TO “like” them, support/promote them because their signed to THEIR label, it would be a BAD BUSINESS MOVE if they didn’t.

The girls have been given PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITIES to face the problem head on and excuse their behavior and apologize (or at least deny it) not only about their problematic past/present, but also Rena’s hair controversy.. she was given the chance multiple times to explain herself and she chose to turn the other cheek (as always)… when the old CB fans finally had enough, they confronted Nia (on one of her many, many social media accounts) asking her to “please just cut the bs/lies, we know what you guys did, for whatever reason, why don’t you just fess up to it and apologize?” And Nia responded (getting defensive and deflecting the question) with, “you’re fucking crazy if you think one person (Julia) built all of this, there’s a big machine behind it and a lot of work to put into it.” Just to show you how jealousy and greed can ruin a band/group, one of the girls also stated that, “CB was never suppose to be about one lead singer; it was suppose to showcase all of our talents.”

P.S. Before anyone dares to tell me my post sounds like when someone did that post with Michael’s old tweets, here’s the DIFFERENCE:

Michael wrote those tweet out of ignorance and has since shown character development.

On the other hand the HV girls were old enough to know right from wrong (Miranda, 17/18 yrs. old, Nia, 15/16 yrs. old, Rena, 14/15 yrs. old… 2012/2013) And lets not forget the participation of Gloria and Ana (nia, rena, and miranda’s 40 something yr. old moms.) YET they still chose to be bullies, chose being the operative word here.

(To everyone claiming they’ve “changed” because they’re being nice to the (new) fans, OF COURSE THEY’RE GOING TO ACT THE PART ACCORDINGLY, getting you guys to like them is the goal here!!!)

Miranda is the oldest and saw herself as the “mother figure” and still participated and Nia has been of victim of bullies and yet stood by her sister and participated as well. There is NO IGNORANCE in this only BIGOTRY, because they’re aware of the problem, yet see nothing wrong with it and continue to ignore the situation. They’ve convinced themselves the lie they told is the truth. Their sense of ENTITLEMENT is what annoys me to no end; they think they’re BETTER than everyone else…

The 20 Best Comedies of the Decade (So Far)

It’s hard to believe that we’re already halfway through the decade. Let’s look back at the twenty greatest comedies this decade had to offer (so far).

20. Cedar Rapids (2011)

This was Ed Helms first outing as a leading man in a widely unseen indie comedy. The Office alum stars as a naive insurance salesman who is sent to represent his company at the annual insurance convention. Although that doesn’t sound like a hilarious plot, the cast that includes John C. Reilly, Anne Heche, Isiah Whitlock Jr., and Sigourney Weaver will prove otherwise.

19. Ruby Sparks (2012)

One of the most innovative romantic comedies in recent memory, Ruby Sparks follows a young successful author (Paul Dano) who’s struggling with a followup novel, but when he begins to write about a woman that appears in his dreams, she then appears in real life (played by Zoe Kazan). From the director team behind Little Miss Sunshine, this film is thought-provoking, magical, and lovely.

18. The Skeleton Twins (2014)

Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader are a perfect match in this dark comedy. They star as an estranged set of twins who reunite after an attempted suicide. What normally would have been a family drama, Wiig and Hader’s chemistry and charm stir some big laughs.

17. Win Win (2011)

Paul Giamatti is certainly one of Hollywood’s most under-appreciated actors of our time. He gives one of the best performances of his career in this indie film about a struggling lawyer and volunteer wrestling coach who gets himself in hot water when the grandson of an elderly client he deceived for financial gain enters his life. The winning cast includes Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavalle, Jeffrey Tambor, and Melanie Lynskey.

16. Pitch Perfect (2012)

Pitch Perfect surprised audiences and took America by storm. A career catapult for Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, Pitch Perfect follows The Bellas, an all-girls singing group, and their rise back to the top at the upcoming national acapella championship. With good music, good laughs, and good talent, there’s no way you can go wrong.

15. The World’s End (2013)

The third entry in what became known as the Cornetto Trilogy, director Edgar Wright and actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reunite once again in a comedy about five childhood friends who reunite to finish a pub crawl that was never completely, but little do they know that their hometown is being run by apocalyptic robots. Yes, the plot sounds silly (understandably so, it’s from the guys behind Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz), but it’s one of the wittiest comedies in years. The cast includes Martin Freeman, Pierce Brosnan, and a future Oscar-nominee Rosamund Pike.

14. Neighbors (2014)

Definitely the funniest comedy of 2014, Neighbors stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, a young couple whose lives are disrupted by a fraternity that moves in next door. On top of the endless amount of (immature) laughs, there are actually great performances from Rose Byrne, who steals every scene she appears in, and Zac Efron, who plays the insane passionate fraternity president.

13. It’s a Disaster (2013)

Probably the most unseen comedy on this list, It’s a Disaster is a grounded yet outstanding film about a couples lunch that goes oh-so wrong. An ensemble comedy that resembles the classic 80s film Clue, the hilarious non-A-list cast includes David Cross, Julia Stiles, Erinn Hayes, Blaise Miller, and America Ferrera. You can find this film on Netflix.

12. Pride (2014)

Pride is such an emotional film, it teeters on the boarder of drama. This historical comedy follows the unlikely alliance of group of coal miners in northern England and a LGBT community in London in a defiant protest against the government. It’s very moving, almost tear-inducing. On top of the compelling true story, the film also includes a terrific cast and a great soundtrack.

11. Bridesmaids (2011)

Whether you liked it or not, Bridesmaids was a milestone for women in comedy. Never has it been proven that a group of women can be funny, raunchy, and bring in the big bucks (well, maybe the Sex and the City movies). This film solidified the career of Kristen Wiig post-SNL and put Melissa McCarthy on the map.

10. The Intouchables (2012)

You may not have heard of this one, but it was a global hit. The Intouchables is a French film inspired by the real-life relationship of a quadriplegic millionaire and young man from the projects he hires as his caregiver after suffering from a paragliding accident. With uplifting, heartwarming, and powerful performances, this film will make you laugh as much as you read those subtitles.

9. Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)

Crazy, Stupid, Love is one of the most well-written romantic comedies of the 21st century. This ensemble film follows several romances that somehow intertwine. Every plot twist will keep you on the edge of your seat. The fantastic cast includes Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Marisa Tomei, and Kevin Bacon.

8. Moonrise Kingdom (2012)

Many Wes Anderson fans believe his earlier work is the best. I beg the differ. Moonrise Kingdom is a sweet, quirky, coming-of-age flick with excellent debut performances from young actors Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward. Leave it to Wes to recruit a cast with the talents of Bill Murray, Francis McDormand, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, and Bruce Willis.

7. This Is The End (2013)

This Is The End is a comedy like no other. Seth Rogen, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Ferguson, Jay Baruchel, and Danny McBride all star as themselves as they experience the apocalypse. Joined by some of their famous friends, This Is The End is truly unpredictable and absolutely hysterical.

6. Young Adult (2011)

Certainly one of the most underrated comedies of the 21st century, Young Adult is about people we know exist. The film follows an unsatisfied novelist who returns home and attempts to win over her already-married high school sweetheart. The Juno team of director Jason Reitman and screenwriter Diablo Cody reunite for a film that I personally think exceeds their predecessor. Plus, Charlize Theron gives her best performance since 2003’s Monster and Patton Oswalt gives his best performance since ever!

5. Nebraska (2013)

While Nebraska wouldn’t exactly appeal to millennials, it truly hits home. This Alexander Payne film is about a man who drives his estranged drunken father to claim a supposed sweepstakes prize. There are a handful of great performances from Bruce Dern, Will Forte, Bob Odenkirk, and the outrageously hilarious June Squibb. It may be shot in black and white, but this is a timeless comedy full of color.

4. 21 Jump Street (2012)

Remember when we thought that a movie reboot of a classic 80s TV show would fail miserably? How stupid were we?!? 21 Jump Street is a seemingly rare exception to Hollywood’s endless trend of remakes. Whether it’s the self-awareness, the humorously elaborate action sequences, or the winning combination of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, no film has been this funny in years!

3. The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014)

No comedy is such a work of art like The Grand Budapest Hotel. The production value is spectacular. The fun crime caper plot, the stunning art direction, and a cast of colorful characters come together in Wes Anderson’s crowning achievement full of elegant yet edgy humor, mostly due to Ralph Fienne’s incredibly zany performance.

2. Midnight in Paris (2011)

Whoever said that Woody Allen’s best days are behind him was so wrong. Owen Wilson fills in Woody-style as a struggling American writer in Paris who mysteriously wanders back into the 1920s and finds inspiration. The wonderful cast includes Marion Cotillard, Rachel McAdams, Corey Stoll, a pre-famous Tom Hiddleston, and Kathy Bates. Beautifully shot and extremely well-written, Midnight in Paris is smart, humorous, and above all magical.

1. Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

Not only is Silver Linings Playbook a great comedy, it’s an overall great film. There’s drama, romance, and even music. Jennifer Lawrence shines in her Oscar-winning role while Bradley Cooper shows his true potential as a leading man, and that’s on top of the tremendous supporting cast of Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver, and Chris Tucker. Writer/Director David O. Russell finds the humor in the lives of such broken people, which is easier said than done. Silver Linings Playbook is about love, determination, and ultimately finding happiness. Now what comedy can top that?

Honorable Mention: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013), Bernie (2011), Don Jon (2013), Escape From Tomorrow (2013), The Kings of Summer (2013), Obvious Child (2014), The One I Love (2014), Ted (2012), The Way Way Back (2013)

What do you think of the list? Are there any major omissions? What comedy do you think is the best of the decade (so far)?

What a perfect word to describe who we are. As artists and as an earnest little publishing operation — I think you have to have some misguided, naive sense of belief in yourself to succeed. Maybe?

And what is success? Money? Or just being able, somehow, through hard work to be able to keep doing what you love?

Well, we certainly don’t have money. All the same we’ve been very fortunate. We work hard — every day, all of our energy, all of our time, and whatever little amount of money we do have — it all gets subsumed by this vehicle.

I am tired. I am emotional. I am drained.

But I love it. I love the artists we work with — I love them so fucking much. They give me purpose. To rise everyday, to work hard every night. To continue whatever it is I am doing with this life. To learn from them, to laugh with them. To just be.

And that’s a kind of success. For me, I just want to keep doing this with them forever and ever. I hope I am able to do so.

Unfortunately and unsurprisingly, for us to continue that type of success, we need a minimum amount of capital. For the time being, that means having our current Kickstarter reach its goal. We have 2 days… and we need your help.

What are our Collections?

To keep our label running, we’ve moved to offering small seasonal, finely curated book bundles. We offer these at a deep discount and include a lot of extras. We call these bundles Collections.

Yes, our Collections are a way to raise funds, to keep the lights on — but they are also a way for us to highlight the authors we love. Alone, their works could be lost in the sea of releases coming and going. But by placing them in our collections, sometimes alongside authors with a larger following, they’re in a tiny peer group giving them higher visibility, and allowing for new audiences to discover them together.

So even if we get to a point of greater stability, we will continue to run our collections. The reason being is that raising capital alone is not the point of our collections. The other piece is raising awareness of not only our authors, their titles, but also of this industry — to show the necessity of this vibrant creative community and the works coming out of it to the larger world.

What does the future hold?

I’d like to take a second to pull back the curtain — to show you what we have coming down the pike for with our next couple of collections. Please keep in mind that some of these covers are not final.

Fall Collection ‘16
Altcomics Magazine #4, Perfect Hair by Tommi Parrish, Secure Connect by Carta Monir, Sprawling Heart by Sab Meynert, and a new mini by Vincent Stall

Winter Collection ‘16
Altcomics Magazine #5, Extended Play by Jake Terrell, Mirror Mirror 2 edited by Julia Gfrörer & Sean T. Collins, Sound of Snow Falling by Maggie Umber, Yours by Sarah Ferrick

Spring Collection '17
Altcomics Magazine #6, Architecture of an Atom by Juliacks, Life in the Fun Zone by Leif Goldberg, Retreat by Jaakko Pallasvuo, and a new mini by Brie Moreno

As you can see, we have a very exciting slate lined up. And there is so much more we have planned. But to make it there, we first need to succeed with our current collection. If you value the type of work we are doing, the authors we publish, we need your help — please show your support by becoming a backer and talking about the work we are doing on social media.

Thank you!

All our love, everything we got

Open letter to Julia + Hey Violet (fans)

When will Julia release new music?

Do I still have your attention? Many people have asked me this question since I posted the history of hey violet. At least the ones who still care about the Cinderella of the story. Truth is, Julia has made many comments on her struggle to rise again. Unfortunately, Nia, Rena, and Miranda have always had the upper hand. They kept everything during the departure; the name, the fans, the legacy. It’s no surprise Julia was pushed to became a ghost or a distant memory Hey Violet tried to bury alive.

(FANS) You can disregard everything I said about those girls, but one thing that can not be ignored, Cherri Bomb was in fact stolen from Julia Pierce. It doesn’t matter how it happened, since most of you don’t believe they bullied J out, the least you can do is acknowledge that Julia Pierce started a band and invited three girls to join her, i.e. Nia, Rena, and Miranda. But her dream was ripped apart when they decided to kick her out. Why didn’t they leave Cherri Bomb to J and immediately create a new band with Casey? Miranda had stated on her personal tumblr that the Lovelis girls had been jamming with him already… Do you see how that could be confusing? When I first read Hey Violet’s FB (then Cherri Bomb’s) entry about the departure, I was convinced they would only make such a drastic and permanent change ONLY if they already had a replacement. I had no proof, but when everything happened so fast and the “Casey band proposal” happened so sudden, my initial thought was proven to be right. I waited along side other CB fans to be proven wrong, but time after time, they just proved me/us right…. Cherri Bomb was no longer Cherri Bomb, it was the band of egos. You can dismiss all my opinions, but their history remains at large on the web. I know they try to escape it by changing their name, but if you search Cherri Bomb on Youtube you will see what became of them after Julia. They were given the perfect excuse by some die-hard fans; “creative differences,” and they ran with it. This can all be debunked by some low-quality Cherri Bomb interviews after J, where they stated multiple times, they weren’t really sure were their musical sound was heading towards. Question; If you don’t know what kinda of sound you want, how can you claim Julia left her band in pursuit of a heavier sound? Die-hard fans kept insisting Julia willingly left her band to make heavier music while Hey Violet wanted a more “poppier” sound. And when Miranda was asked if there was any truth to those claims on her tumblr, she suggested people should ask Julia for the reason. Which can also be debunked because Julia stated multiple times, “I did not quit.” Besides if there was any truth to any of it, Julia would in fact have new music out. Just as Hey Violet does. In fact they have been releasing music since 2013 under the Cherri Bomb name. There was, in no particular order; Blame It On The DNA (old Ana Lovelis song), The Coffee Song (Bean Freaks), The Mad Man and His Toys (HISS), Ceepin’, This Is Why, Nothing But Love (old Ana Lovelis song), The Shape Of My Scars, Mama, Middle Finger, and If I Told You. And in the midst of all these new songs, they couldn’t even figure out who was going to be lead. Even swapping places when it came to singing lead in a song in their live shows. They were rude and asked too much from their audience and became hostile when they didn’t get the proper reaction from their crowds. Honestly, I believe they were just trying their best to fill Julia’s shoes. Most fans that abandoned CB after Julia were skeptical Rena or Miranda would be able to pull it off given that J was such a great front woman, and well,… I honestly believe that was their attempt at being a “good lead and a good performer.” Anyway, I don’t know when Julia will release music… I hope someday you do.

(JULIA) I know you had everything taken from you when your band-mates decided you were no longer a part of the band you started… I can’t even imagine how it must have felt to learn via FB you were no longer a part of Cherri Bomb. And to add insult to injury, have your former band-mates speak on behalf of you and say this was a mutual decision when it clearly wasn’t. I know, based on your words, you are working on yourself. Most people may think it’s easy to start a career from the ground up, but I understand that these things take time. Especially when your spirit has been wounded. I don’t want to put words into your mouth or speak over you, I just want to acknowledge that it must have been hard to accept the reality you were forced into. I don’t know if you went through some depression or some self-doubt, or anything like that, but I know it must have been hard to be in your position, pick yourself up, and have to start all over again. People may think you can quickly record an album and have a very popular band scoop you up from out of nowhere and hand you a promising future. I could see how people would think that since it happened to your ex-band-mates. And maybe it’s even harder to understand how such a talented girl like yourself isn’t touring and releasing song after song, but like I said, these things take time. So one day when I get asked, “when will J release new music?” I can say, “she has and it’s amazing.” But please don’t feel pressured into doing anything you don’t want to do, we just want to encourage you. If and when you decide to present yourself to the world, just know you have a fan in me.

(Hey Violet) I have had plenty to say about you, I know it, you know it. There so much hostility in the world to play shady games. People talk shit, say petty things, spread hate online, and cyber-bully. Well I don’t want to be a part of that culture, I don’t want to continue calling you a bully and be just like you. I don’t want to be a hypocrite, so I’ll speak to you directly. There are so many plot holes in your stories. I know the music business is a shady business, but must you take part of it? You (Nia, Rena, Miranda) took Cherri Bomb from Julia and defiled the name by quickly replacing her with a guy. No offense to you, Casey, but I have a point to this. I know you’ve heard this before but, why didn’t you change the name of the band after Julia’s departure? In every interview that still exist to this day on youtube, you all said you chose the (Cherri Bomb) name because it was based off a book of the same name that focused on the women of rock and what it took to be a bad-ass chick in the rock world. That was literally your gimmick; an all-girl rock band. When Casey joined, that name no longer suited you. Which only lead a ton of CB fans to assume you only wanted to continue to use the name because of it’s popularity you built around it. Anyway, your continuation to success has been a rocky one. You failed to make Cherri Bomb after Julia a hit and failed to produce a second album although you guys promised an album due in the fall of 2013. You have a home studio and even declared you would achieve success without any labels, i.e. “…macklemore, welcome to the new age.” Just broken promise after broken promise. Like I said, rocky. You’re Hey Violet now, and you made a promise to release your new album in spring, which came and went and nothing. You’ve released a hand full of problematic songs, if you need me to tell you which and explain why they’re problematic, I will. Rena stopped playing the bass and never really gave an explanation just said, “trying something new,” and added a touring bassist. You guys always fail to mention you were in another band before turning it into Hey Violet and insist on forgetting to mention Julia, who was responsible for putting you guys together. Instead you make it seem like you, Nia and Rena, started the whole damn thing and recruited Miranda and then added Casey. There’s just too many “highly sensitive” questions that question your sincerity that are left unanswered. If anything, I’m waiting for you to prove me wrong, and everyone else who doesn’t think too highly of you. I almost wished you guys would have shared/reblogged Julia’s blog entry and shown positivity and support. You were capable of wishing J a happy birthday once, but failed to be supportive of her now. She’s the one you left behind. She’s the one you owe, but repeatedly shove further down your tangled webbed past. I know you weren’t betting on some random blogger to poke holes in your new identities, but I am here to remind you that Julia is not a ghost or a distant memory you tried to bury alive alongside the band Cherri Bomb. Everybody knows or will know about you and your history as long as you continue being HV, your past doesn’t just disappear. You move on, but that’s your history. I don’t know, maybe if you acknowledged your past without any smoke and mirrors and apologize, maybe people wouldn’t think you have something to hide.

When will Julia release new music?

I hope I still have your attention. I know most of my followers loved it when I called Hey Violet out, but there’s something I noticed that I couldn’t ignore. I know we tend to call out problematic people a lot (which we should, there’s nothing wrong with that) and spread it like wild fire because we need people to know how horrible what’s-her-face is or what’s-his-name is. I get it, shit I’m one of those people… but what I realized is when something positive has been shared, for instance Julia’s blog entry detailing her recent years+music career, it only got a few hundred notes. It shows how much we choose to spread negative over positive sometimes. I don’t blame everyone for the lack of notes. I’m not foolish to think a lot of people know about Julia. Her musical career hasn’t been active for years. She was pushed away from the public eye by Hey Violet’s ladder to success. Hell, most people outside of 5sos’ fans don’t know who hv are. So did I expect a lot of people to know who Julia is? No, not really. Not unless you were a Cherri Bomb fan or know about Hey Violet’s real history. I think about her blog entry every time someone asks me about her possibly putting out new music and when will it come, and honestly my heart breaks every time. Julia seemed so determined with a lot of aspirations when she was in Cherri Bomb. Rena, Nia, and Miranda took that away from her. How can I say it without sounding mean or petty? That is what happened. And now Hey Violet is a recording artist under 5sos’ record label, touring the world. How is that fair? It’s an ass-backwards situation now that 5sos is involved because they gave the platform to the wrong people. Hey Violet has a home studio, the old+new fans, the Cherri Bomb legacy, and Hollywood connections. Like I said Hey Violet has the upper hand. Meanwhile, Julia was fucked over and forced to pick a new career path, (i.e. a solo music career, which is not what she wanted when she became a musician. Don’t forget that!)

So why did I write this “open letter?” To give you a little insight on how hard it must have been for Julia to be kicked out of her band and try to succeed without having anything Nia, Rena, and Miranda took for granted.

please share.

Crafting the Sun is now live!

After what seems like forever, my novel is finally published!

What is Crafting the Sun?

It is a relationship mystery drama set in a Robot Future setting.

There are three main perspectives over the course of the entire book:

1. Julia Levin, the creator scientist.

2. Euclid Levin, the ideal science android.

3. A mix of perspectives depending on relevancy.

What is the summary?

Year 2291.

Two years after the end of the Great Robot War. Peace returned to the world and life resumed its course. However, not everyone lived well.

By all standards, Julia Levin was the embodiment of failure. A brilliant roboticist, yet terminally-ill and broken. Her time spent fleeing from the ghosts of her past.

One day, an enigmatic businessman offered her a deal of a lifetime: to build the perfect robotic son. She grabbed the opportunity and showed no signs of turning back.

Will her Magnum Opus grant her simple peace, or will it turn the gears of fate?

Okay, I’m interested. Where do I get it?

As of right now, it’s only available on Amazon Kindle for the following countries: US, UK, DE, FR, ES, IT, NL, JP, BR, CA, MX, AU, IN.

Here’s the main US mirror link.

Aww sorry, I can’t afford it / I don’t live in the right country / It’s on the wrong platform.

That’s alright. I understand. Being Malaysian, I can’t buy my own novel even if I wanted to. And I understand what’s like to be penniless.

But not all is lost! Just reblog this post. The more this post circulates, the better. Every reblog helps me a ton in the long way~

Thanks for your time!

Pietro shrugged. “The four of us, we would be invincible, because the ties that bind us to this world are not memories or dreams, they are a single strand, one that is tied unequivocally to another person. If she dies, I die, and the world shall die with us.”

“That’s insane,” Bucky huffed out a dark laugh. “That’s not a normal way to think or feel.”

“That is love,” Pietro said unapologetically.

Z is the debut label-release of SZA (Solana Rowe), who has been hailed as the future of R&B and a female counterpart to Frank Ocean following the last year’s See.SZA.Run mixtape. But this album is so sun-drenched, so effortless, no one would ever guess it was made with any sense of anticipation or pressure.

The whole thing is driven by incredible production, with spiraling, addictive synths and beats, ranging from true dancefloor pop to something altogether more sinister, from jazz –like melodies to sparing melancholy. However, the quality and enthralling atmosphere are consistent, and you never once feel in any way detached.

She opens with the slow, easy distortion of ‘Ur’, before skipping on through the chilled perfection of ‘Child’s Play’ (with a guest verse from Chance the Rapper) and ‘Julia’, her most glittery pop track. This leads into ‘Warm Winds’, arguably the defining track of the album, if only because of its variety, going from heavy thrums of synth into a gentle wind down, showing off both her vocal and lyrical prowess, as she coos “we were all 13 once, long live tramp stamps and Pepper Ann”.

She follows through with the trill of ‘Hiijack’, the dark echo and sinister lyrics of ‘Green Mile’, and the haunting ‘Babylon’, with Kendrick Lamar. The album finishes on a run of the clever, jazzy ‘Sweet november’, sparing and achingly beautiful ‘Shattered Ring’ and ‘Omega’, filled with a wistful intensity as she asks you to ‘keep your feet firmly planted in the sky’.

But despite these changes in tone, her vocals pervade every track like incense smoke, distinctive and bittersweet, making it all unmistakably hers. These are paired with often extremely dark lyrics, like a repeated cry of “crucify me”, or the image of a massacre with “bodies arriving every day”, which gives it all a sharp, sinister edge.  The whole thing sounds like an overheated summer, in all its captivating dramatics.
