Dougie Poynter is best known as the Essex born bassist, songwriter and vocalist in hugely successful pop rock band McFly. He has a background in music and attended the prestigious Gable Hall Performing Arts School. He is the youngest member of McFly, joining at the age of 15.
A true creative, Dougie’s talents extend beyond music. His own maverick style has grown to a love for fashion which has led to him creating his own clothing and accessories brand, Saint Kidd; established in London in 2011. Inspired by the infamous 17th Century privateer Captain William Kidd, high quality, ecologically sound and a meticulous attention to detail are the bywords for the collection of super soft t-shirts, vests and accessories which include reworking of traditional nautical motifs.
Dougie is also an accomplished writer; he and his Mcfly bandmate Tom Fletcher have created and written two children’s books, the first ”The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas” was published in October 2012, and the sequel ”The Dinosaur That Pooped A Planet” was published in August 2013.
Dougie was crowned King of the Jungle when he took part in the 2011 series of ”I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”.
2014 is set to bring even greater success. Following the astonishing success of McFly’s tenth anniversary concert at The Royal Albert Hall, the guys have teamed up with the members of Busted, and have announced that they will join forces to form super group McBusted for a full UK arena tour in April and May.
