Just after BMW released the electric i8 sportscar, let us have a look at one of its dirty ancestors: In the early ‘90s, the huge 850 CSi was the most expensive BMW. Oversized and driven by a thirsty V12 engine, it didn’t sell well and was doomed to fail under the circumstances of recession and increasing gas prices.
Volga V12 Coupe, 2004. A coachbuilt replica based on the styling of the Soviet-era GAZ-21 Volga saloon which was produced 1956-1970. The V12 Coupe takes it’s drive-train and platform from a 1990s BMW 850CSi and was built by Moscow-based A:Level at a cost of $500,000 for an unnamed client (Mr. D.Z.)
