LANY’s latest swooning confection may be entitled It Was Love, but we all know that this IS love, and has been since we heard ILYSB more than two years ago. The trio from Los Angeles melts us with aching synthpop and leaves us ever excited for their debut album with this heavenly ode to unrequited love. Whenever I listen to LANY, I feel like I’ve been transported into one of my favorite 80′s romance films. LANY will release their self titled album on June 30th.
Another day, another LANY song is revealed, and this fan of the Los Angeles trio is sent to music heaven all over again. In fact, a full EP named “kinda” was released today, and it comes with brand new swooner, “like you lots”. Well, LANY, I like you more than lots, especially when you’re serenading me with your creamy cooing and your romantic glowing synthpop. I feel like I’m the star in a glamorous 80′s flick, and it leaves me all warm and fuzzy inside. LANY’s EP “kinda” is out now on Polydor.
joan swooped us up with their brand of 80′s pop and 90′s R&B inspired synthpop earlier this year when the duo made their debut with “take me on”. It made a mad dash for my LANY, Great Good Fine OK, St. Lucia, and The 1975 loving heart. Well, Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford are back, and they’ve strengthened the spell they’ve cast on me with “love somebody like you”. I swoon at their feet as they serenade us with their buttery synthpop and plucky alt pop jam. joan says of the romantic track: "love somebody like you is a song for someone that you obsess over. they seem out of reach, but you can’t help but to take a chance and go after them". You can grab the gooey melting song from iTunes, here. You can re-visit debut single “take me on” below, while you’re here.
